Lots of confusion over which Balakot got hit - there’s apparently one just over the border of the LOC and another further into Pakistan’s territory. However, at combat super sonic the Mirages could have easily hit the one further inside Pakistan and been gone in less than 10 minutes.
Neither side really wants to make which one got hit totally clear.

I remember in the mid 2000s during the last big nuclear scare in the Subcontinent, I read some articles in Scientific American and Foreign Policy about the projected environmental effects of a limited nuclear exchange between Indian and Pakistan. Nuclear winter as a result of a full scale exchange between NATO and Warsaw Pact was thoroughly debunked, but apparently so much of India and Pakistan's urban sprawl in probable target areas consists of combustible wooden structures that the atmospheric dispersal of the ash would be equivalent in effect to the Krakatoa eruption. So this may actually help out with the Green New Deal by lowering global mean temperature by a few degrees.
