The way I see it, the Left, just like any other political group, just emulates those among them who seem to creating "change", even if that change is illusory. People mimic whoever seems to be effectively winning battles in politics and culture, and in the past few years these people have been moderate social-democrats, identity politics people, and the irony crowd.
People like us, the boring Marxists who want everyone to calm down with their culture wars, employ materialist analysis and to rethink their approach to political organization, just come off as naysayers to them, because in the present we don't have anything to show. So for me, criticizing people's discourse is a waste of time. If you get organized and you attack the establishment and the Right in an effective manner, people will start acting like you because you're showing them a way.
Chapo and all the Twitter irony faggotry give progressives a sense that they're "fighting back", the Yikes crowd manages to ban words and cancel celebrities every now and then so they give progressives the illusion of agency and power, movements like BLM and March for Our Lives succeed in mobilizing people so they give everyone a feeling of the masses rising up and coming together. So the entire Left's online tone and discourse is becoming a mixed bag of all these people, their discourse and their cultural "strategies", who are all insufferable in their own right. Needless to say, those are nostrums, just like most culture wars, but they're taking the lead so people will rally behind them.
