A thread for discussion of politics in countries that don't really deserve their own thread.
I'll start the ball rolling: The President of Kazakhstan just resigned after 30 years in power, and the Ukrainian Presidential election and Israeli Parliamentary election are within a month.
Miscellaneous politics general
Gonna repost this.
Ukrainian elections on the 31st, here's a rundown.
Poroshenko [Petro Poroshenko Bloc]: NeoCon, Pro-US [joining NATO], anti-Russkije*, armed or peaceful resolution, centralisation
Tymoshenko [Fatherland]: Christian Democrat, Pro-EU [weary of NATO, weak anti-Russkije, peaceful resolution, centralisation
Zelinsky [Servant of the People]: Syncratic with SocDem leanings, sovereigntist, pro-Russkije, negotiated resolution (with Russia only), decentralisation
Hrytsenko [Civic Position]: Liberal, Pro-Atlanticist [both EU & NATO], anti-Russkije, armed resolution, centralisation
Boyko [Opposition Platform-For Life]: Social Democrat, pro-Russian, pro-Russkije, peaceful & negotiated resolution, decentralisation
Lyashenko [Radical Party]: NazBol with Ukrainian characteristics (not a joke), sovereigntist, anti-Russkije, armed resolution, centralisation
Vilkul [Opposition Bloc-Nashi]: Social Liberalism, pro-Russian, pro-Russkije, peaceful & negotiated resolution, decentralisation
*This refers to Russians in Ukraine, not to Russia itself.
There are the main candidates, atm Zelinsky is expected to win: likely facing either Poroshenko or Tymoshenko in the second round.
Run down of Israeli political parties:
Right-wing Zionist Bloc (these are the pro-Bibi, pro-Nation State law parties):
Likud: Netanyahu's party, Zionism with Putinist Characteristics
Kulanu: ebic big brain centrists who focus on cost of living
Shas: nutjob religious types
Union of Right Wing Parties: actual fucking fascists (one of their candidates got banned for being too far right, first time it has happened in Israeli history)
New Right: like Likud but they think Bibi is too much of a pussy & they don't have the oligarchs on their side
Yisrael Beiteinu: basically a party for Soviet & Russian emigré
Liberal Zionist Bloc (Anti-Bibi, anti-Nation State parties):
Blue & White: Basically Clintonian Liberalism but if done by military generals
Zehut: Nationalist Libertarians (ironically want to end all American aid to Israel)
Gesher: Zionism with feminist characteristics.
Labor: perhaps the most cucked cuckdems in the history of cucked cuckdems: they make the SPD look the KPD, they make Blair look like Tony Benn.
Peace Bloc (define this by those who support not only freezing settlement in the West bank, but active disengagement and a negotiated peace with the PA):
Meretz: Basically a standard leftwing Green party economically and socially, defines itself as non-zionist, furthest left of the jewish parties
Hadah-Ta'al: an alliance of the Israeli Communist party and an Arab rights' party.
Ra'am-Balad: an alliance of a Left-wing Arab rights party and a semi-islamist arab rights party.
UTJ: religious nutjobs but also anti-settlement, they represent the anti-zionist heredim.
bump because this is actually a useful thread.
Does any Serbian user know anything more about the protests that have been going on against Vucic and his rats in the past few months.
The only thing I know is that it's because SNS are so obviously and ridiculously corrupt and incompetent that they have that cartoon villain thing around them.
But is it THAT different than the shitshow Tadic and the DS have done in their time?
Also I heard that the protests are led by the same crooks who used to be in the government before.
It's basically porky that used to be in government wanting a piece of the pie. SNS isn't conducting any different policies and our government has mostly been the same porkies for the last threeish decades. The protests are frequent since they organize every weekend but they're not very large, and seem to be mostly students who are playing revolution by walking and playing music and retired people with some boomers sprinkled it. They're pretty much larping as if they're going to repeat 5th october(when Milosevic was taken down) but that's not going to happen. Vucic has a good grip on power currently and a good base of support and he isn't going against international porky masters like Milosevic did in his later years. This shit is basically on a similar level as the trump hate except Trump except Trump at least has some nationalist rhetoric that American liberals take offense to, while Vucic is doing the exact same shit all the capitalist parties have done here. The most that would come out of these protests(which wont happen) is replacing one neoliberal with another and letting the masses vent a little.
Which isn't to say that Vucic isn't shitty, he is basically the richest man in Serbia and is basically the guy building the "Belgrade on Water" shit with Arab investments as a cover. The thing is most of the people protesting aren't even fully aware of that and they literally have no platform whatsoever. If you manage to translate the shit on their site their only issue is that he is somehow suppressing journalists and that state TV is not reporting on the protests fairly as well as that he "own all of the media". He does have a pretty good grip around of a few channels but it doesn't really differ in practice from what has happened here before he took over. The movement has also adopted the anti-trump bot rhetoric, except they don't claim they're russian bots but state sponsored bots, or rather actual people who are paid to post positive shit about the government. It goes to a point that you are eligible for being called a bot if you voice your disagreements with them. Sort of how burger fash call you a kike and shill if you question their infographs. It's spooky to what degree politics have been imported here since we've been colonized to be honest, and there's no genuine "intellectuals" for lack of a better word talking about these subjects here either.
So some weird shit is going on right now, all the blocs (Arab, Liberal, and Ultra) are fucking bricking it that their people aren't voting. THis could end-up being quite interesting.
As for the blocs, they realign like this [after campaigning]:
Bibi
Likud
Shas
URWP
New Right
Yisrael Beiteinu
UTJ
Swing
Zehut
Gesher
Kulanu
''Liberal Left'
Blue and White (Gantz)
Labor
Meretz
Arab
Hardash-Ta'al
Ra'am-Balad
So FinnishSocdem, what's happening with the elections over there?
Why does Israel allow Arabs to have parties/run for government?
Because 20% of the country (within the Green Line) is Arab. Although don't you worry the Israeli right has been for a long time trying to remove Arabs from the political system.
Not him but I saw some news just came out:
Finnish Social Democrats score first in advance voting in election
Left alliance,Greens and social democratic party are looking to win these elections while center party is collapsing.
In pic current seats allocated based on current counting.
Good to hear, what do you think the coalition will be? Since I doubt a Red-Red-Green will get over the line.
Such are bourgeois politics.
Its too early to say just about half of the votes have been counted so far. There is a real change that right-wing parties are going to still pull out victory from this, but due to commitment from most parties against Finns party(PS) there is a real change of minority government or blue-red big coalition. There is also a change of red-green coalition with additional smaller parties like Swedish peoples party(RKP) and/or Christian democrats(KD) since their issues are mainly social and are center parties when it comes to economics.
Is this Nazbol?
Personally I`m hoping for failure of government formation and new elections to completely crush the center and finally force the country towards block politics from this current bipartisan consensus governments that we have had with exception of last gov for over a decade.
Godamnit
So it seems the current coalition will continue, though with a smaller margin than last time. Next time it will likely change, and the coalition will be uprooted if things keep course.
What are the hot-topic issues of Finland? I've heard one is the future of social safety nets and that they are on the way to evaporating soon.
Looks like the new government will be composed of SocDems, centrists, greens, and Swedes.
Left, right, left, right
This seems far more likely and ideologically consistent that could push trough healthcare and social reform, in addition to moving towards Keynesian economic policy.
They're keeping Vas out then?
That would not be smart move from socdems side unless they want to loose more left-leaning voters to them nor lose control of unions in upcoming trade union elections. Personally I think that the left-dirt coalition(socdem, left alliance, greens, center and Swedes) would be most ideologically consistent and capable of left-wing policies countering the last bourgeois gov.
Would that change much? And would it fuel more support for PS?
You don't even need the Swedes.
Still, this is only the storm warning. Screencap this if you want, PS will be the biggest party come the next election. My hope for this election was they'd win, because it would have finally forced them take Gobermint responsibility, but they'll evade it once again. They aren't capable of leading, they can only be whores to Kok and Kesk.
Tbh after the 2017 crisis, I imagine the KOSK and KESK wouldn't even dare enter into a coalition with PS now. Still, this was meant to be a test-case of what happens when a right-wing populist party enters into government and it shows that they keep their support…
Regardless the mental breakdown on other chans when it comes to these reactionaries is hilarious.
Oh?
oh look, socdem incel is back
Isn't the incel socdem another guy? Or are there two?
At least according to Finnish chans who where 80% backing Finns party are swearing that we are going to have communism and the whole Finnish state will now collapse since social democrats are going to be the PM party for first time since 1999.
Wrong again, that dude is Swedish.
Seems kinda dumb to be outraged considering that not much has changed electorally wise except the decline of the centre party
