The plight of the white man today is in class ascension, rather than acceptance, or abolition. There is SO MUCH corporate self-help propaganda telling white guys to "get rich" or to conflate career success in self-worth.
Somehow though, the American culture is so twisted that these "quit your job movies" (all of these occured in 1999, which is peculiar): Fight Club, Office Space, American Beauty and The Matrix still reject the idea that maybe the dispassioned proletariat should work together, it always delves into this ridiculous individualistic "overcoming" message, like how Thomas Anderson becomes "the one", which privileges his life above the others' rather than seeking the revelation that at the very least it was team-work which saved the day.
These "white fags" correspond to similar ideologies.
