Warlord #4837 vs. Warlord #9489
News 4/12
I can't wait to find out in 20 years that the CIA backed this coup in libya
Haftar basically is a new Gaddafi in that he's larping as a secularist strongman who is the only man who can save the nation from chaos.
of course he also includes some salafists and shit in his forces so the truth is more complicated
the LNA is the UN backed government but in reality has no control beyond Tripoli, or even in most of Tripoli honestly, beyond it's agreements with a plethora of various militias/whatever you want to call them, who are corrupt as fucking hell.
no good options honestly
He is/was actually backed by the french, the egyptians, and the UAE
though evidently Haftar went rogue with this latest attack on Tripoli, at least if you believe the public French pronouncements
Was al-Bashir a communist?
If I had to speculate I'd say the Taliban is looking for a serious blow here to put the final nail in the coffin of the Afghan war. If the Taliban make a decisive victory here peace talks will be forced through on Taliban terms. Trump and his administration has the military spread thin as it is and with the insistence of heating up Venezuela our big west boy might decide to cut his losses and drop Afghanistan.
Speaking of Gadaffi, is Saif-Islam a factor? I've heard he was in jail, leading the Popular Front for the Liberation of Libya (a Gaddafi loyal militia, I don't know if they're big or even a factor really), and that the ICC was looking for him
My guess is there will be a media blackout as the Taliban wins, no one will know or understand what's happening there except for some troops who don't want to say they lost anyway to preserve their pride/manhood, all the focus will be on the incoming invasion of either Iran or Venezuela.
100% this Afghanistan is going to be intentionally unmentioned as the pivot towards Venezuela and Iran heats up. This assuming a Taliban victory in the offensive. If it's a Taliban defeat we might get Trump portraying the ensuing peace deal as an American victory and hold a farce Triumph.
Does anyone here have some good resources on Libya? Im super interested in its history and the modern history of its downfall post Gadafi, but I don't know where to look for good resources on the subject
