In socialism trains should be separated between high-speed rail, high capacity double deckers, generic light rail for low capacity routes (you can use your old stuff there I guess) and omnipresent trams/subways in urban areas.

Fees for trains in the UK after privatization took place have become a joke

I went to London last weekend - tickets for the coach cost me £20 return, tickets on the train would have cost me around £100. Why on Earth would the coach so much cost less when trains don't even run on petrol (electrical travel is 3-4x more energy efficient). One rail company has essentially a monopoly in my area and can charge whatever prices they want. Where is the logic in that?

totally agree. Cars should be for rural people who need them for work (foresters, hunters, farmers) only. That means, if there is a public transportation alternative (which we doesn't even have in Germany for the rural areas, I guess some Americans look at busses like the Aztecs stared at the Spanish ships)

Showcase of Czechoslovak rail vehicle production. The weird thing is that a country of 15 million people had two electrification systems on its major lines. In northern half of country it was DC 3000V, and in southern half it was AC 25kV single phase.
Older system for designating the vehicles was letter combination (nothing for steam locomotives, E for DC electric, S for AC electric, T for diesel locomotive, M for multiple unit, U for narrow gauge)
First number denotes number of powered axles.
Second number is top speed divided by 10 and then subtracted by 3. 7 means 100 km/h, 8 is 110 km/h, 9 is 120 km/h or more.
Third number gives pressure on axle if you add 10 tons. 5 means 15 tons per axle.
4th number after the dot is the production number to differentiate different types.
Low floor electric multiple unit developed for suburban traffic around major cities. Ordered to be developed in 1955 and put into first production in 1959. Automatic door and low floor for rapid entry and exit during stops. Ahead 10 years of the time it was first produced. However later developed models were already obsolete the time they were put to production.

In 1959 it was decided to start electrification of southern half of country with AC 25kV system. In 1961 first prototype of locomotive for this system was made. Then after series of different prototypes, final version as shown in picture was put to production in 1965.

First type of electric locomotive to be produced after the second world war. Ordered for development in 1946 and then the design was consulted with Swiss locomotive designers from Lokomotiv und Maschinefabrik Winterthur (SLM) a Société Anonyme des Ateliérs de Sécheron (SAAS).

This type was also delivered to the DPRK, and their Red Flag class 1 locomotives are based on this type, instead of having two bogies with 2 axles each, they beefed it up to 2 bogies with 3 axles.

Developed for heavy duty passenger trains on the northern line from Prague to eastern Slovakia.

Developed to use semiconductor power control, previous model used rheostatic control.

R1 the prototype of metro cars which were far more lighter, modern and economic than what the Soviet industry offered, which were essentially copies of New York interwar subway steel boxes on wheelsm where the Czechoslovak cars were developed from scratch, yet used many construction element from existing rail vehicled developed domestically. The project was axed mysteriously, but the suspected motives are political in a sense that Czechoslovaks were forced to buy the Soviet subway cars.

Due to the shortage of passenger trains around major cities, the construction of a new type of electric multiple unit was ordered. This is no longer low floor and utilizes existing design of passenger cars, which are given extra door in the middle and then end cars are converted to have the motive power.

Dreaded motor train car still used today.
This was exported to the Hungary, where it is rumored that it was a revenge for the 1968 Warsaw pact invasion, due to how uncomfortable these were.

Diesel locomotive.

Not a rail vehicles but under Czech and Czechoslovak law, the trolleybuses are formally railway vehicles, with its specific laws.
The Skoda 14Tr trolleybus, which was also exported to USA and today you can ride them in San Francisco or Dayton, Ohio. Typed Skoda 14TrSF.

Probably to prevent the transit system from causing street clutter. Those roads don't look super wide. It's an interesting concept but I bet that a subway/metro system is as if not more efficient than any sort of sky-train

in norway the name of the national train system was recently changed from NSB (norwegian state railways), which had been the name since 1883 to "Vy", from the french word "vue", meaning vision. Literally no one wanted it except ten people in the government and they spent millions of tax money changing it and now it might even be privatized.
I would have tolerated it if they went with a traditional Norwegian word but no, they just had to use some gay foreign word like a stupid brand would. Fuck
