Fortnite.

and yet people still miss the point, even the wachowskis went full idpol.

the wachowskis? weren't they the directors of matrix? what has that got to do with deus ex?

because they were inspired by it,down to the design of the main character.

When it's this lossy you should just use a video format.

For every conspiracy theory Deus Ex got right there were 10 more retarded ones.

Sopranos, perhaps?

Matrix is slightly older than Deus Ex. And Matrix got inspired by mid-90s movie Ghost in the Shell, which had been inspired by Blade Runner. Both the people behind Matrix and Deus Ex had of course familiarity with Blade Runner and cyberpunk novels (William Gibson and others).

The new ones with Adam Jensen are kind of dumb.
I still play them, but in Mankind Divided they really glorify Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

very generous description. making cybernetics the dramatic focus of the entire story instead of it being an element of the setting, while also giving it the social dynamics of the fucking x-men is extra dumb. though I haven't played mankind divided

Don't bother,it's half of an actual game, with an open end with a sequel hook and extremely questionable microtransactions because this industy is hot garbage.
I liked the fact you could just takedown the big bad (yes, the ONLY one) with just a cutscene punch instead of the bullet sponges of the first game, but other than that it's inferior in every way to human revolution.

Deus Ex didn't have a single original conspiracy theory in it.

Well at least the good crazy underground people were mildly socialist.

If anything the decay of Deus Ex series as a whole is a living proof of corporations fucking shit up.

Adam Curtis documentaries.

I hope leftypol chose the most dialectical ending.
(Anprims get the GEP rocket)

Commies get the mini-crossbow for a silent takedown.

They are two of the most intricate and interesting games made since the first deus ex and you are exaggerating their faults unfairly

Citystate

Bready comfy game if i do say so myself

I love human revolution though, mankind divided devolve into Idpol shit, reuse the same augments gimmick of the first one,and most of the actual lore and interesting setup is in the fucking books.
it's extremely short and with like 4-5 different environnement on top of that, with no real choice in anything but
Also litterally retcon the end of the first game wich is something I kind of liked since 1.it wasn't that good,2.it made a point about propaganda crushing the work of an individual.

My problem with how the leftist journalist were portrayed is that they made them into a group of Alex Jones tinfoil hat types, who occasionally got the narrative right. Also, their name Samizdat was taken from a form of dissident underground publishing in the Soviet Union. I think this is another Solzhenitsyn influence, as the way the Gulag Archipelago was circulated was via samizdat. Whoever wrote the script to Mankind Divided seems very confused politically.

Maube Denton isnt the bad guy.

Posting Deus ex kino

JC: Can I ask you something?

ISAAC: What do you want to know?

JC: Despite all I've read about the Triads, I wasn't prepared to see them operating
in the open, on the streets, and wearing uniforms. Doesn't the Chinese
government care?

ISAAC: The Chinese leave Hong Kong alone. They barricade the roads to control trade to
the mainland, but they know how business is done.

JC: I would think the secret smuggling operations of the Triads would disturb the
Chinese government.

ISAAC: Maybe the Luminous Path, but China knows that the Red Arrow are business owners,
entrepreneurs, community leaders, and that they protect the city from outside
influences.

JC: You said "outside influences." What does China fear?

ISAAC: China is the last sovereign country in the world. Authoritarian but willing –
unlike U.N.-governed countries – to give its people the freedom to do what they
want.

JC: As long as they don't break the law.

ISAAC: Listen to me. This is real freedom, freedom to own property, make a profit, make
your life. The West, so afraid of strong government, now has no government. Only
financial power.

JC: Our governments have limited power by design.

ISAAC: Rhetoric… And you believe it! Don't you know where these slogans come from?

JC: I give up.

ISAAC: Well-paid researchers – how do you say it? – "think tanks," funded by big
businesses. What is that? A "think tank"?

JC: Hardly as sinister as a dictator, like China's Premier.

ISAAC: It's privately-funded propaganda. The Trilateral Commission in the United
States, for instance.

JC: The separation of powers acknowledges the petty ambitions of individuals; that's
its strength.

ISAAC: A system organized around the weakest qualities of individuals will produce
these same qualities in its leaders.

JC: Perhaps certain qualities are an inseparable part of human nature.

ISAAC: The mark of the educated man is the suppression of these qualities in favor of
better ones. The same is true of civilization.

why is everyone who uses this as an avatar on youtube a gigantic fucking retard

You too noticed?

because /pol

There's a specific reason.
Some alt-right Pewdiepie-lite streamer told his underage fanbase to switch their avatars to JC.
They've likely never played the game or even know where the avatar is from. Just that it's a "meme".

Did they? Source?

And the oh yeah yeah spam in the comment section.
Fuck.

Fuck I miss the game, man.

MORPHEUS: JC Denton. 23 years old. No residence. No ancestors. No employer. No –

JC: How do you know who I am?

MORPHEUS: I must greet each visitor with a complete summary of his file. I am a prototype for a much larger system.

JC: What else do you know about me?

MORPHEUS: Everything that can be known.

JC: Go on. Do you have proof about my ancestors?

MORPHEUS: You are a planned organism, the offspring of knowledge and imagination rather than of individuals.

JC: I'm engineered. So what? My brother and I suspected as much while we were growing up.

MORPHEUS: You are carefully watched by many people. The unplanned organism is a question asked by Nature and answered by death. You are another kind of question with another kind of answer.

JC: Are you programmed to invent riddles?

MORPHEUS: I am a prototype for a much larger system. The heuristics language developed by Dr. Everett allows me to convey the highest and most succinct tier of any pyramidal construct of knowledge.

JC: How about a report on yourself?

MORPHEUS: I was a prototype for Echelon IV. My instructions are to amuse visitors with information about themselves.

JC: I don't see anything amusing about spying on people.

MORPHEUS: Human beings feel pleasure when they are watched. I have recorded their smiles as I tell them who they are.

JC: Some people just don't understand the dangers of indiscriminate surveillance.

MORPHEUS: The need to be observed and understood was once satisfied by God. Now we can implement the same functionality with data-mining algorithms.

JC: Electronic surveillance hardly inspired reverence. Perhaps fear and obedience, but not reverence.

MORPHEUS: God and the gods were apparitions of observation, judgment, and punishment. Other sentiments toward them were secondary.

JC: No one will ever worship a software entity peering at them through a camera.

MORPHEUS: The human organism always worships. First it was the gods, then it was fame (the observation and judgment of others), next it will be the self-aware systems you have built to realize truly omnipresent observation and judgment.

JC: You underestimate humankind's love of freedom.

The individual desires judgment. Without that desire, the cohesion of groups is impossible, and so is civilization.
The human being created civilization not because of a willingness but because of a need to be assimilated into higher orders of structure and meaning.
God was a dream of good government.
You will soon have your God, and you will make it with your own hands.
I was made to assist you.
I am a prototype of a much larger system.

I started to play the first Deus Ex today and at the third mission, there's the brother of the protagonist saying the United Nations were created by the rich families with of the example of the Rockefeller family giving land to the early United Nations.
Is it true?

John D. Rockefeller did donate land to the UN (it's a typical stunt pulled by the rich to show how "philanthropic" they are) since it was agreed to house the headquarters in the United States, but saying the UN was created by "rich families" isn't true. The US, UK and USSR created the UN.

Rich families have certainly created innumerable organizations (obviously), but the UN wasn't among them.

Thanks, it's nice to see you post here, Ismail.
Especially in a media thread.

Deus Ex is a fun game.

As a note, there's a mod that gets rid of a bunch of bugs and makes other improvements without radically changing the gameplay: moddb.com/mods/gmdx

To add what Ismail said, the UN was made by the allied powers as a way of mediating the peace between them and ensuring that the post-war axis powers did go full fascist again. Also Eleanor Roosevelt was really popular with everyone and she wanted it. Reminder "The United Nations" was a name used for the allied powers in WWII. In the epilogue for "World War Two: The Complete HIstory" they cover its formation well.
Also ironically enough the section that would lead to decolonisation, including the right to self-determination etc., was written by the arch colonialist Jan Smuts. We sow the seeds of our own destruction and that.

Which ones should I watch?
Please tell me.

Depending on your interests. Hypernormalisation is amazing for redpilling normies and describes the feeling of living in the current hell-world and how we got to it quite well. Bitter Lake is good if you are interested to learn about Afghanistan and western foreign policy (plus about Wahhabi porkies). The Trap is currently my favourite, as it shows how wrong and perverted the ideas of negative freedom (which drove the western politics since the start of the cold war) really are and got. Then All Watched Over is basically more of what The Trap was, but gives more insight about the economics of it all, and also dunks on Ayn Rand.

'All watched over' was personally the most important because it shot down several key ideas I was raised on.

Episode 1: Californian ideology, and techno-utopianism BTFO
Episode 2: Balance of nature BTFO
Episode 3: Selfish genes BTFO

'All watched over' came out in 2011, and Californian ideology/techno-utopianism especially has been more BTFO ever since, until there isn't a shred of it left.
Can't believe I ever bought into that shit.

Thanks Curtis user.

plz tell me it's sarcasm

I hate zoomers so much

Speaking about Morpheus, just found gif related

I mean, fallout's pretty good.

Gustav's fucking cheating, it's not even close to being as popular as deus ex.

I actually thought this thread was going to be about them.

>JC Denton: 'We're now ready to transform the human race. It became clear to me after the defeat of MJ-12 that the old answers to tyranny are inadequate. […] I'm going to establish the first posthuman civilization, and you're my first citizen. Welcome.
JC Denton: So de Tocqueville noted that an all-knowing mind – the mind of God, as he conceived it – would have no need for general ideas. It would understand every individual in detail and at a glance. Incomplete applications of law or justice would be impossible for such a mind.
JC Denton: I want human affairs to be driven by wisdom. Finding the correct recipe for wisdom has been my project these long years under the ice.

Watching Hypernormalisation and All watcher over by the machines of loving grace was like an experience of actually taking the red pill (not red pill^tm that has came to be associated with asinine conspiracy theories and repackaged white nationalists crack stories). To think all that shit is happening blatantly, and how we overestimate technologies.

*watched

the only thing that matters is that it got the main conspiracy right - porkies taking over the state machine

The state was always in the hand of the ruling class.

that's actually quite interesting
Everett and Illuminati are porkies, Page is a porkie supreme and a former Illuminati
so you basically have a divide in a bourg class between Illuminati and MJ12
in the end you can side with porks, become a luddite, or become a benevolent commie dictator
the shit is fucked

This is a great one if you're into first person dungeon crawling RPGs. It's less anti-neoliberalism specifically as it is pro-environmentalism and anti-capitalism.

I forgot to mention that the 3DS version is the definitive version, with extra dungeons that almost double the length of the game and 3 more endings added to the 3 endings already in the game. It's easy to emulate on the Citra Canary build if anyone's interested.
