Lmao. They're going to nuke each other out of pure frustration

Whitewashing American History: the WPA Mural Controversy in San Francisco
There has a been a controversy percolating the last couple of years over protests against the “Life of Washington” murals painted in 1935-36 by Works Progress Administration (WPA) artist Victor Arnautoff that are on display at George Washington High School in San Francisco. These murals dared to challenge the patriotic stereotype of Washington, instead portraying him as a slaveholder and military commander overseeing the genocide of American Indians. Seeking to portray the brutal reality of U.S. history, a reality that the ruling class – and textbooks – has always sought to falsify and obscure, the radical artist was in many ways far ahead of his time.Yet now, the San Francisco Board of Education has voted to obliterate this militantly anti-racist artist’s depiction of history that the racist rulers sought to deny. The argument justifying this censorship is that the images were “disturbing” to students. The threat to freedom of expression and free speech is real, and its real targets are the left, labor and those who understand that historical truth is a weapon for the oppressed and exploited. Here this vital freedom is being undermined not only by white supremacists and Trump but by “identity politics” Democrats.“The liberal campaign to destroy the Arnautoff timeline parallels the age of Trump that has found liberal Democrats invoking founding fathers, the constitution, American values, as patriotic “Hamilton: The Musical” has been introduced at a lightning rate into public school curricula. I think it possible that there is actually a deep well of US patriotism that lurks behind the anti-mural campaign.”

Send in the clowns… Johnson brings farcical but dangerous dimension to international relations
The accession to Downing Street by Boris Johnson could hardly come at a more precarious time as tensions mount between the US, Britain and Iran. Fears of a war breaking out are heightened by Johnson as prime minister.Of concern is his very undiplomatic blabber-mouth and an incorrigible knack for dropping verbal clangers, rubbing people up the wrong way.Johnson doesn’t seem to have any wit about when to cease offending people. His notorious public comments bordering on Islamophobia will have already earned him contempt in Iran. He will have very little authority or trust in Tehran if delicate negotiations are to ever succeed in de-escalating the acute stand-off in the Persian Gulf, in particular the tit-for-tat seizure of British and Iranian ships. The British government and the Foreign Office are in disarray with several senior ministers already handing in their resignations this week in protest over Johnson’s replacement of Theresa May. One of those quitting was Alan Duncan who was in charge of UK relations with Washington and the European Union. The lack of senior advisers in the Foreign Office will, dreadfully, give Boris Johnson a freer license to be the bumbling, reckless figure he is. Handling a combustible geopolitical situation is not something to entrust him with.

That sounds more like the average American prison to me.

Global depression? I don't know much about economics, the Americans were talking about the "inverted yield curve" which took me a while to understand, thoughts?

Also resources to understand modern economic convos at least a bit? I'm watching and listening to Wolff a bit

Having a decent grasp of algebra, analysis and statistics makes reading neo-classical economics a pain.
Same for basically anything economy-related spewed out by media

literally, reading neo-classical economists makes you wonder if those people are retarded or simply lying anyway for whatever reason

in the end, Marx attempted to base his theory on empiric evidence and logics, wheres all the neolib fairytales that try to "explain" our economy try to hide their flawed assumptions like the homo-economicus within a bulk of mathematicall formulated BS

however, "modern economics" mostly consists of financial economy which is simplay a gigantic scam to extrude even more surplus value and exert power.

anyway, read up a bit about Hobbes, Smith etc to get a basic understanding what the general presumptions in "modern economics" are.

in the end, marx was right, they adapted his theory to fit their needs and now shit at him cos 'muh gommunism'

Clown World

I can do arithmetic and rudimentary algebra but anything beyond that, my brain just completely locks up.

Another made up thing for helicopter parents to use to justify not letting their kids swim in the ocean

Does Corbyn have a good chance winning against Boris?

no. but labour will replace corbyn for someone who is electable.

The blairites have helped boris a lot by getting Corbyn to support remain. They'd rather boris win than be in the government with Corbyn as leader
