Basically: Rheinmetall and Steyr-Mannlicher were cooperating with a design for a weapon for the Bundeswehr contract to repalce the G36. They already had a rifle ready. The deadline to mail in their application was yesterday (8th of January 2018, 23:59:59). Rheinmetall/Steyr-Mannlicher refused to send in a rifle of their design, essentially withdrawing from the contest. Previously SigSauer had also withdrawn, presumably leaving only H&K, and possibly foreign (European) manufacturers. Domestic manufacturers will however presumably be preferred, because nobody wants to deal with having to send all your arms across borders for repairs/replacements.
It's still not 100% certain that the HK433 will win, but something around 90% would be a good guess.
Pictures: HK433 (H&K rifle that entered the competition) RS 556 (Rheinmetall/Steyr-Mannlicher rifle that didn't enter the competition)
Is there anyone who honestly believes that it's not just a scheme to bail out H&K? I'm sure even the other team knew that, and it was just an opportunity to market that AUG turned into an AR-15.
Well, the CEO of SigSauer said that there were some pretty shifty things going on. augengeradeaus.net/2017/11/g36-nachfolger-sigsauer-zieht-angebot-zurueck/ The whole ITAR thing kind of fucked Sig over, because they are partially foreign. Rheinmetall did not yet comment on "why" they decided not to join.
Jeremiah Flores
No. I don't even believe the HK433 isn't a modernized HK33…
Adam Campbell
HK33 is roller delayed while the HK433 is a short stroke rotating bolt design (like the G36). HK abandoned roller delayed systems quite some time ago. They also seem to have dropped the carry handle and top charging handle, which makes sense. I liked the top charging handle, but the carry handle we were never allowed to use anyways, so it was simply one massive hindrance because you would need a weapon specialist to mount different optics on your gun, which made the entire thing unpractical to use in any other role than basic infantry. At least they kept a scifi A E T H E T I C S.
Connor Nguyen
Until I have seen one field striped, I will remain unconvinced. Because if you play on words a roller delayed gun is a "short gas piston" gun and they look way too close for comfort.
The receiver is indeed rather strange. I've heard that it's extruded aluminium, but if that's true then it needs some machining to end up like this. And you don't need these ribs on the sides if you just want to use a glorified AR-18 mechanism. But if it's indeed roller delayed then I can see the merit here.
you'd hope it's just machined rather than extruded, since that's purely a cost-saving process and offers only disadvantages to durability. the 433 is kinda cool, and kinda disappointing in a kike spacegun way, the exterior has consolations to looks over function.
Christopher Collins
Looks like some kind of retarded Halo LARP gun. Why don't they make firearms look like firearms anymore?
Tyler Phillips
shameful
Hudson Turner
Right? And also why the fuck would the charging handle be all the way to the front when you could put it anywhere? It's certainly not there on a AR-18 (nor any subsequent variants).
Levi Morgan
The whole point of this rifle is to be cheap (by that company's standards), and machining all of that out doesn't sound cheap to me, even if it's aluminium. But then again, why would they make such a complicated shape when the SCAR can get away with just a few cuts and a rail?
There actually is one, although I doubt HK would look at it for inspiration.
Carson Adams
The place where the charging handle is located at is roughly where the short stroke piston of the G36 would be at. Considering that the handle is non reciprocating it may be that they attached a charging handle system to the gas piston, kind of like pic related. 9 trillion hours of GIMP.
Actually, scratch that. I have taken a look at some of the videos posted online, and found that the handle is not only non reciprocating, but can also be used as a forward assist. What is this space magic?
German video, but the important parts are of visual nature. HK433 begins at roughly 3:40
Non reciprocating, charging handle with forward assist function and the option to take of the handle and place it on the other side. I really want to see her naked now.
Jeremiah Allen
The MSBS has that too, I think you push it inwards and it forces a peg into the bolt carrier, which can then be used to push the bolt forward. I assume it's spring loaded so that you don't leave it attached to the bolt by accident.
Brody Evans
audism :DDDD
because it's really easy to use up there. it's on the bolt on the AR-18 because that's simpler.
So not suspiciously like the CZ Bren at all? Again maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't make sense when literally every country in the EU is buying 416/417, when the 417 are in service in the German army to suddenly go for another rifle unless it's the usual cash grab/government bailout for H&K.
Wyatt Ortiz
The stock on the RS 556 looks like sex. I wish it were available as a part.
Lincoln Gray
i like the flush clean dust cover
Joseph Brooks
Why replace the G36 already?
Landon Mitchell
HK wants more shekels
Jose Diaz
Fuck I hate that thing. There better be an adapter to switch to AR compatible stocks
Julian Rogers
That's what it is. To sum up the whole story:
Jordan Jones
Summed up perfectly. Daisuki!
Ayden Clark
So true it almost hurts
Ethan Lee
Where would we be without Japan? It is Germanys best ally even though Germany has become a suicidal edgelord tranny.
I seriously wonder what Japan would have gone in the 80s with if one of their manufacturers didn't have the AR18 technical package (the patents to which had expired) when they sought a new rifle.
That every feature down to the smallest pin still look exactly in the same place as the HK33. And that there is now no doubt that the body was thinned down to the minimum to save weight which makes the bulge where the roller lock would be even more suspicious becasue it has been present all 4 versions… Higher res pic and model 1.
I'd imagine UTG or some other airsoft turned real gun gear company would make that but goddamn that looks tacky as hell.
Andrew Gomez
Germany scarcely has a functional military at this point, so they might as well just become glorified mall ninjas as the country collapses. Their ass backwards procurement and doctrine has proven that's practically what they want anyway.
Britain has Elcan Spectre scopes with mounted Trijicon red dot sights as standard issue if memory doesn't fail me. Why can't they streamline their shit, I don't know.
Jack Gomez
That's like 7 or 10 years old since they first show the A3 model. It's a solid concept. I still have my concerns about how quick barrel change affects accuracy, for a military rifle (that usually aims for the 3MOA mark +/-) it should be ok without too much effort, for more demanding customers (civilian market) it becomes an issue. Australia got rid off the quick change barrel since FE88.
Sebastian Morgan
Why the flag in that case?
Ryder Lee
I'm on a 3 months training course at Toyota plant I'm posting on 8ch from the company phone, wish me luck.
They pay for your hotel and travel? Sounds pretty fun
Josiah Perry
The side mount on the AUG makes sense, but damn why the fuck would you need more than the space for a small reflex sight?
Blake James
Flight, apartment, expenses, 45 ameribucks a day for food and stuff and a rented bicycle. Can't fucking complain tbh fam. I wish jap women could speak some English, trying to get unpaid pussy is not an easy task.
It doesn't add too much weight and you could make a male-to-male weaver raíl adapter and attach two AUG together for extra fire power. Hell, with the adapter height you could get the exact spacing to use one scope per eye. Think about it.
Nicholas Price
Cool. Since you are an argie, do you drink yerba mate? I recently started drinking it about 4 days ago with a brand called Amanda, it feels better than coffee but if you do drink it, are there any other brands you suggest? Sage for OT and /int/ tier posting.
HK is going bankrupt due to German export policy and needs a state bailout.
Jacob Reed
What I don't understand is why nobody would at least make a square-shaped aluminium block for these scope-on-scope arrangements. At least they wouldn't look so hopelessly flimsy and haphazard.
I don't have any here, but I usually drink it on a daily basis. Amanda is low tier as fuck, see If you can get La Merced. Are you actually drinking mate the right way or you're using those faggy tea bag mate? Proper mate takes some skill to prepare, be sure to not burn the leaves, the taste gets terrible and you lose a lot of properties.
Dylan Thompson
All the G36 rifles I have seen were older than me. They are simply coming to the end of their livespan. You could update the G36 and add a more sturdy connection between receiver and sight mount, but that's about the only improvement you could make. The rest works fine.
Lol no. Sure it's bad, but it's far from "scarecly functioning". We have been downsized into hell, especially maintenance crews, which meant that we can't inspect our gear properly and thus half of it is considered "not ready", but in reality we use it daily anyways. Four more years of von der Leine ;_; What the fuck are you talking about?
Camden Bennett
he probably means our government being cunts that cuck our country and with that the military
I use a ceramic mate gourd, since the calabaza ones seemed a bit too weak and fragile, also far more upkeep since there's a risk of mold and whatnot. No, I have loose tea, the price per gram on teabags is out of whack so I didn't consider it. I try not to pour boiling water, I just boil it then wait 2-3 minutes for it to cool down, would be a lot easier if I just bought a kettle with variable temperatures instead but alas I don't have one. Not yet anyway, might consider it in the future. Luckily, I checked the store where I buy it from and La Merced was available but unfortunately only in 500 gram packs. A few euros more expensive but I'll live. I will definitely buy it next time, thanks. What about Cruz de Malta, Rosamonte and Taragui? I heard good things about some of them.
Luke Butler
Same reason as the FAMAS. Most of them are fucking old and beat up (they were around when conscription was still a thing). FAMAS are even worse because the army had to set up workshops to specifically made spare parts. There would be nothing wrong with G2 (that are STANAG compliant unlike the F1) Felinized version (that got rid of most of the dubious shit ergonomy-wise), it's just that nobody make them…
Also the 416 we're getting come with those retarded 80€ full steel SA-80 HK mags…
Ethan Rivera
user its for when you want to replace the stock with a fleshlight and put handles on the scope.
So far the HK433 looks like it is everything the G36 had issues with. Nobody liked the original scopes, and nobody was allowed to use the carry handle anyways, so they got rid of both and instead added sight rails, which were so heavily requested that special forces bought the G36V en-masse just to be able to mount different sights. Yet everybody loved the fact that the thing was light as fuck, so now we got a mix of aluminum and polymers for the new rifle. Besides maybe the price, which hasn't been announced yet, so I guess we will wait and see.
Steyer/Rheinmetall is out. Red the article posted in the OP. The only native German company left in the competition is HK. Then there is maybe colt, and some other minor foreign ones.
I paid good money for an H. I would her so hard just to get my money's worth.
Liam Lewis
How about Haenel?
Jason Collins
...
John Hill
user Haenel is a native german company from the state of Thüringen. They were reformed in 2008, because the original company ended up in East Germany after WW2 and was integrated into the VEB Fahrzeug- und Jagdwaffenwerk „Ernst Thälmann“. They are a subsidiary company of Merkel Jagd- und Sportwaffen which is currently owned by Caracal International LLC(before them Heckler&Koch), but that doesn't make them less German than Heckler&Koch, which currently is owned by a french guy. During WW2 they were a producer of the Sturmgewehr 44, MP40 and MP18. At the moment Haenel is the producer of the G29(military version of the RS8/9) sniper rifle for the Bundeswehr and CR 223 rifle for the Police in Hamburg. Currently there is no real information if Haenel has entered the competition or if they have left it. Neither the Bundeswehr nor Haenel give statements about the topic.
Read, nigger. READ: Haenel either never entered or dropped out. The deadline for proposing a design is already past. Even if they wanted to enter now they couldn't. Also: Haenel doesn't have the production capacity to make a couple hundred thousand rifles and accessories in the next few years. It is unlikely that they would be picked even if they had entered.
Jonathan Campbell
user if you want to call other a nigger, you shouldn't make statements that are not backed up by a source. The news article is just about Sig Sauer and Rheinmetall/Steyr-Mannlicher dropping out and that there are no information who is in the competition from the side of the Bundeswehr. So we only know for a fact who is in the competition from the companies that have announced that they entered/left it, out of their own accord. Until now Haenel is silent, so they could have made it into the competition and we don't know it. user this is a bullshit argument, because neither does H&K have this capacity considering how slow they rolled out the G36 to the Bundeswehr and how slow they were at replacing the faulty and mediocre first generation Rifles the Bundeswehr got. Also Haenel could fall back onto the Suhl Arms Alliance and get help from Merkel Jagd- und Sportwaffen if their own production capacity is not enough or until they have updated their capacity.
Julian Wilson
This capacity issue seems to be a good argument for stamped weapons. Most of the initial cost comes from buying the machines, making the dies, and setting up the production lines. But you can easily outscore this process to other companies and only give a nice finish in the company. Although you could outscore that too.
David Lewis
So, nobody cares. They make good shit, but they're still the "you suck and we hate you company".
Jace Roberts
Care to explain what you mean with that? Their guns are good, never had a trouble with any of the service weapons I have had, despite all of them (except for the P8A1) being older than me. Even the stone-age G3 I had was super precise and felt just fine to shoot and clean.
Nathaniel Martinez
H&K like to treat their customers like shit from time to time. I once got told by a rep that I did not need anything more than a 3+1 in a SL7 even though 10 rounders exist and were in the H&K catalogue at the time. They did though get pissed off at US import laws and attempted to sue over the whole SL-8 dealio.
That SL7 though fucking wrecked brass like no other.
Nicholas Bell
H&K aren't exactly friendly on catering to the US civilian market. Poor customer service and product support and the like.
Nathan Williams
H&K is notorious in the US for shitting on the civilian markets. The only reason HKUSA exists in the first place is to sell submachine guns to the military and police and they'll get livid if you point out some civilians legally own MP5s here.
The HK443 is going to go the same way as the HK416: they'll make a civilian version that costs $2-3k just in time for MSBS to get a civilian Grot on the market for
Carter Flores
Huh, guess I never had to deal with their customer service. We also had literal boxes of spare parts lying in the armoury, so whenever anything even began to behave slightly out of ordinary we would just replace it, especially with the G36. Back in basic I remember telling the armorer that I heard a squeaking noise whenever I pulled the charging handle back. I didn't know that it was the spring compressing in the rear, so he just laughed and handed me three and come back to him with one that didn't squeak. The brass thing is based on the fact that the Bundeswehr doesn't give a shit about brass. Look at the brass the MG3 or G3 punches out (especially the front of the case) The "ejector" on the MG3 is more of a "punch it so hard that it flies out 100% of the time" device. Failure to eject isn't.The G36 isn't nearly as violent though. We only collect brass because we want to keep our ranges clean. The SL7 is based on the G3, which just RIPS AND TEARS brass.
I know the G3 has a fluted chamber and roller delay is violent as fuck. Besides that its not like the military is ever going to reload the brass they use at the range.
Alexander Robinson
Yeah, you just need a completely new design the company doesn't even have. There is a shit load of machining companies in Germany, they could increase production easily. The issue could be cost.
Oh, good, ceramic is good (I prefer glass and so do most regional champions, but ceramic is also ok). Cruz de Malta is good, has a rad logo and the added value of not giving in to Muslims bullshit. They wanted to enter the Jordan market, but -in spite of the warnings- they didn't change the packaging; Muslims burnt up all the cargo in the end, but they didn't backed down and that's deserves thumbs up from me.
A common kettle and some practice can get you on the right temperature. You want to be between 70 and 80 (lower is better). Boiling and cooling is ok, some people believe you lower the oxygen level after boiling it, I'm not sold on the idea.
Unlike solids, gases become less soluble as the temperature of their solvent increases; it's why the polar seas are the most rich with oxygen
Austin Fisher
If if still works, why can't you just produce new but upgraded ones and extra spare parts? I know you've done it before, but still. It would probably be more economic. I guess it would make sense in France's situation because you have the money to do it and could use the replacement. I'm curious, does France still have any infantry weapon manufacturers? I thought the company that produced the FAMAS went out of business, if you have any other companies that do make weapons, have they made anything new? Also, Christ almighty, I swore the FAMAS was made in the early 90s, turns out I was off by 20 years.
Glass wasn't available where I bought it from, but if I ever order from Germany or there are any here I'll definitely get one. The logo on Cruz de Malta honestly was half the reason why I wanted to get it, it really is radical. They really know how to make their packaging look good. They were ballsy to send that kind of product to muslim lands, props. Boiling and cooling is the easiest option at the moment, but I'll probably get a variable temperature electric kettle next month when I get muh neetbux. Doesn't help that my current kettle is a piece of shit and sometimes has burned my hand a few times since some steam can escape near the handle to the switch that turns it on.
Jeremiah Bennett
Only small arms France makes is sporting ones if I recall, nice ones at that.
Wyatt Thompson
I understand your pain. Wir haben nun schon so lange unsere Aufgaben mit schlechtem Material erledigt, das wir jetzt alles mit nichts bewerkstelligen können. - unknown Bw Soldier
Because they stopped making them in 1994… As in the newest FAMAS you can find is older than the soldier getting it. The upgraded ones are from the lasts batches that were stockpiled. No. They all closed down in late 90's after the failed merger of FNH and MAB/MAC/MAS. There are sports rifle companies (Verney-Carron, PGM precision) and lots of small gunsmiths workshop that make really good weapons and all kind of shit and regularly have new products but it's largely for the internal hunting market and no-one can make 60 000 assault rifle in 5 years or something.
