It's the original studio.
Owner of the studio basically went full slav, he axed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (actually out of quality concern, didn't want to milk the magic too much as it was too similar to the others ones. The thing was always his brainchild first and foremost), then dropped of the map for a long while, company still existed as an empty shell original dev's went to work on different games (Metro series, Survarium, Escape from Tarkov).
However the company has been restored to working status for a while now, they release Cossaks 3 (which was their other series) and is exactly what fans expected from it (it's a slight evolution of the first one with better graphics and the same gameplay), so there is actual hope they won't fuck it up.
Probably won't come out before 2027 though…

No. Most of the reporting on it is a prime example of western journalism. Company owner just showed up one day and decided to close down the studio just like any shop would. Then THQ went under and a lot of wild rumors about what happened to the rights and whatnot that were taken as official.
But the company never stopped to exist, it just didn't do anything, it wasn't bought out, nor the rights ever changed hands or anything.
It's basically the owner just saying "fuck it" taking his money, fired the staff and went to vacation.
In fact both Survarium and Metro use part of the stalker 2 code and assets in what would be blatant copyright infringement if this shit wasn't happening in Ukraine because the employees and the boss largely disagreed on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 direction and just took a lot of office supplies home with them…

I wish someone in Japan would get a license to develop Shadow of Fukushima. Canonically it would be a bit of a stretch but wandering through wasted parts of Japan just gets my boner going.

In Clear Sky specifically the Freedom base is full on weed degeneracy. Hell their trader is even called Ganja.

There are two or three references to drugs across all 3 games and one reference to a Freedomer boning a bloodsucker, but because Duty reminds Zig Forumsfags of their favorite failed nation, they have to pretend that Freedom are total degenerates - regardless of the fact that Dutyers are the sorts of authoritarian fuckwads that would confiscate weapons from everyone but themselves if they could get away with it. When it comes to actually getting shit done, Freedom generally comes out on top.

It plays like Shadow of Chernobyl, except with shiny new graphics, excessive gun autism, first person item use animations for everything, minimal-to-zero HUD, completely overhauled A-life system, dynamic faction relations and territory control, anomalies that randomly move and dis/appear after an emission, and a whole bunch of other goodies I couldn't name.
And as long as fantasizing, I want a physical boxed copy with the game data actually on the disc instead of just a steam key, a novella-thick instruction manual, and a coupon for a free blowjob.

It plays like Call of Pripyat with shiny new graphics. Heavily scripted and narrative driven, anomalies limited to clearly marked areas, MAP and HUD objective markers, meaningless binary plot choices, no a-life at all with shit just spawning on top of you, and so forth. Hits the high points of what made the original good despite being a shallow and dumbed down shadow of what it should be.

It plays like Fallout 5 / Far Cry 6 : This Time in Russia. Now exclusively on Playstation, Xbox, and PC. Pre-order the GOTY version to unlock the lesbian transgender muslim character skin. And stashes are replaced with loot boxes.

No matter what I think up, it could always be worse. Stalker themed PUBG clone, anyone?
