A very friendly face to those outside of shooting. His videos are just plain laid back fun for the casuals, he uses dangerous "assault weapons" in a very laid back and fun way when people who are on the fence about gun control come to view things on the Youtube. What his videos lack in serious information for serious shooters is more than made up for in the effect of his gentle, non offensive, just shooting for fun approach to things for everyone else. A better influence upon the general public on internet media has not been found.
Don't listen to those bashing him, anti gunners have targeted him specifically before because they fear the whole "grandpa having fun with a black rifle" thing really crimps their 'scary black gun child murdering guns only for whackos" narrative. THEY want to paint anyone who owns an AR as some dipshit mall ninja lunatic and showing friendly normies enjoying a day at the range hurts that immensely.
Simply put, ol Hickok is good for gun rights with his format and style because of how it affects potential voters. Simply put EXTREME TACTICOOL GRUNGE MUSIC guys with their over the top fake hardcore style fits right into the gun control narrative when trying to aim at a bunch of voters. Non gun normies watching an friendly old man mow down jugs with a machine gun is great pro gun stuff, a far better influencer on the public image than other channels and personalities.
His videos are dumb fun, that's it. Don't get all fucked up that they aren't super hardcore really detailed super serious videos. People just lay back and relax to them and ENJOY them, God forbid you do that.
Watching all the hate for him makes me think that there are plenty of subversives on these boards nowadays. It isn't just hate for "Fudds' or the NRA because it waivers from time to time, you get the feeling that everyone is terrible and we need to destroy EVERY popular firearm Youtube personality. Gotta hate em all. Seems like more of a push to divide than anything else.

I like his review videos, and he seems like a decent person, but it's a real shame about his typical boomer tier compromise mentality.
There's no sense in being bitter about it though, just make sure you explain to people why compromising isn't going to make things better.
You probably won't get anywhere with boomers since they've been brainwashed since birth to always trust the main news outlets, but the younger generations are somewhat more willing to do research if you point them in the right direction.
