Going slightly off topic, ever notice how Japan seems to make Christian games better than the Western world? I sometimes wonder if it was a sign from God and that's why the Japanese industry seemed to have flourished back then. Yeah it's commonly attributed to Christianity and western culture being viewed as foreign and exotic over there. They still seem to implement a lot of western influences in their media.

What keeps driving the need for Christian influences in entertainment is the universal popularity of demons in fantasy fiction and the necessary countermeasure to them which creates the need to keep drawing influence from places such as Christianity and its cultures.

You can do a lot of totally heretical things in this game like impersonate a priest or steal relics, and it doesn't shy from showing the corrupt parts of religion at times, but you can do a lot of good Christian things too and this game is still a MASSIVE breath of fresh air with how it portrays a Christian society.

That's like asking for christian sports games. It doesn't exist, the purpose of video games is to give entertainment. Books, music, films, and paintings have far more emotional value, that's why they can be religious, while video game constantly seeks for ways to keep the player from getting bored.

That said, there are games that are relatively safe for christians to play. That is, encourages no sinful act beyond being addicted to the gameplay itself. Elder Scrolls is far less offensive than other M rated games. It might encourage you to steal and kill, but it's just stealing and killing video game NPC's, no big deal because it works nothing like real life. Other games have too much lewd display, encouragement of adultery, and other sinful acts. Now those are harmful.

What makes FFL3 Christian? I've never played it so I don't know the plot.

This brings to mind, in the Doom games, the portal opened to hell in those games can very well be a metaphor for atheism, through science, humans begin to worship creation instead of creator and they open a portal to hell as a result. The protagonist is basically on a mission to tear down the idols that humans have built.

I remember in the first doom you have to launch a rocket at the (brain) of the final boss, who keeps spawning in demons through his mind.

I disagree. A game can satisfy all the same emotional/creative/whatever needs any other art medium can too.
We as Christians are obligated to society, we go to mass, preach, argue, etc. Game developing is (was) a very time consuming task, where you have to dedicate your every living second to it, it simply isn't compatible with Christian duties. The Church would need to sanction video game developers just as it sanctioned painters.

Nothing. It and all of the SAGA series are basically mythological (think Lord of the Rings-esque). But they're certainly not anti-Christian, and are generally pro-monarchy if you're the sort to appreciate that. It's a low bar sure, but they're also pretty good games (romancing SAGA 2 and SAGA Frontier are both brilliant), and better than most modern western AAA treatment of Christianity. Also if I read the plot summary correctly, FF Legend 1 has you kill a pagan deity as the last boss :^)

Final Fantasy Tactics.

Actually, we figured it out in the Far Cry 5 thread a while back. Basically Joseph Seed is the anti-christ. Look at the evidence:
1. Never once mentions Jesus
2. Insists on being called "The Father"
3. Marks his "followers" with his drug "bliss"
4. Makes them millitant to follow his every command.

The whole point of the game is to make you think about your morals and the end times. Joseph Seed does techinally "win" in both endings of the game, because at thr end of life, God is always right.

And as the logic follows, because God is always right and Seed is the Anti-christ, Jesus Himself will decend from heaven on his horse to defeat the anti-christ as fortold in the prophecy.

ActRaiser 2 was awesome, it's just really, really hard. Like Nintendo hard, super frustrating. I did miss the society simulator aspects from the first game though.

Starcraft II is a great game for quick-minded people that are adept with their keyboards. Videogame-vise, there's nothing as rewarding and fun as playing an interactive, well-fought match with someone at 250-300 actions per minute. Really gets the adrenaline flowing.

Heh, same with modern day WoW's storyline, idk if you've noticed or if this is just me, but blizzard seemed to ground a lot of it's story especially regarding the holy light, and dark powers etc. Was unironically taking bits from the bible, or had some biblical feels to it especially in wrath, i checked how the story was doing in legion, cause i don't play anymore. But they've totally ditched that and went for some new age mumbo jumbo, there is no chosen one only we can save ourselves with one of the scene regarding Illidan.

I find the idolazation of media franchises unnatural and disturbing, but I don't see anything wrong with enjoying games like you would a good book. A fun diversion, but of course you should put it down to focus on what really matters to avoid it destroying you. Actraiser was really good btw.
