I pocket carry in the summer and in the winter I have a full size pistol inside the waistband at around the 4 o'clock position I still pocket carry then too

I always have a gun in my strong-side front pocket. I find it to be the fastest way to draw from concealed because I can "cheat" my draw inconspicuously; in other words, if I spot a potential threat before it's an immediate threat, I can put my hand in my pocket, get a full combat grip on the weapon, and then if I end up having to draw I can get a shot off in 0.3 seconds or less.

If anyone cares:
summer - LCP II in the pocket
winter - Glock 43 in the pocket
all the time - CZ Phantom on weak-side hip (open carry)

On topic I wear my SP101 in a Tagua 4-in-1 holster that I've removed the metal clip and the leather clip cover from and just keep at the 4-ish o'clock position on my belt. I wear a shirt over it. That's about it.

I carry at 4-o'clock position IWB. I used to open carry but I didn't like the idea of everyone knowing I have it on me. I live in an open carry state and it just became bothersome.

I was supposed to get paperwork/fingerprinted to conceal carry but fuck that. I just tuck it in there and make sure it doesn't print. Carry a full sized pistol that way year round and have been doing it for years now without issue. I figure if I ever have to use it and it comes up that I was "illegally" carrying my legal pistol in an open carry state it'll just be a good chance to challenge the law. I value my life over some retarded libs opinion that supports the niggers being able to carry illegal firearms.

I forgot to mention: get a proper holster. I carried without one for awhile and it doesn't work. Don't be the idiot that lets a loaded pistol slide down your pants leg. Sometimes (very rarely) I'll forego the holster but only to quick trips to the store or something. If I'm doing that I carry at 1-2 o-clock.

I also wear a light overshirt over my t-shirt in the summer to help conceal it better. I'm accustomed to this because I'm both cold natured and have used a long sleeve shirt to avoid sunburn most of my life while tending my farm. Typically I'm on my own land where the laws don't even matter and I try to limit my time off my land as much as possible. In the winter I'm always wearing a heavy coat and/or hoodie that hides it well enough and prevents printing.

I also cross state lines with it and generally take it anyway including "no gun" zones. I'm not walking into a fish in a barrel zone unless I'm armed. The only place I refuse to enter with it is the local court house but only because they have metal detectors.

Pocket carry because it's too damn hot in the American south to wear clothes that keep you from printing while carrying IWB. Even if you find a good way to carry IWB, your gun is going to be exposed to an epic amount of sweat. I've seen a few of my friend's guns start to show signs of corrosion after being carried for just 1 week without being cleaned.

I don't think this opinion is too controversial but I genuinely consider the Ruger LCP/LCP II to be the most revolutionary firearm to reach the market in decades. While you can argue that Ruger merely ripped off Kel-Tec's P-3AT, Ruger added a combination of increased quality and reduced cost that allowed a very clever design to revolutionize the concept of self defense in America. I'm not saying that out of hyperbole either and for one major reason, the LCP/LCP II are the #1 firearm in terms of sales in the US to the tune of over a million units sold each year.

The LCP typically goes for $170 and providds its owner with "good enough" firepower (380 is the bare minimun for reliable lethality and 6+1 rounds is enough to walk away from any real world engagement with your life) in a package that carries and conceals as easily as a wallet so the owner has no excuse for not carrying it every day. While the mechanical design of the gun itself isn't anything special aside from how optimised it is for mass production (thus the ultra low price), the revolutionary aspect is the fact that it has found its way into millions of pockets and purses across the country and across every sort of demographic (it fits small hands and doesn't kick like a mule so women and the elderly love it, it's the cheapest handgun next to the High Point so literally anyone can buy one, and it is just so concealable that even richfags want them.

It's not the greatest gun in the world but the impact it has had on expanding the adoption of regularly carrying a concealed firearm is a game changer. None of the women I know would have ever carried on a regular basis if it wasn't for someone talking them into getting an LCP which costs less than some shoes they own. Roughly half of the guys I know wouldn't be carrying every time they go out in public if it wasn't for the ease with which their LCP slips into their pocket either and a CCW permit means nothing if you ever get in a self defense situation with no means of defense.

I live in the deep south and I haven't had a problem with IWB year round with a proper holster. But as I said before I'm cold natured and 110F+ doesn't bother me. I've also had no issues with sweat degrading the finish on my gun between cleanings but I do wipe it down fairly often. I have gone many months between doing that though. In my holster my full sized pistol doesn't even touch my skin and I'm sure little sweat actually gets on it. I also carry it while doing manual labor in the fields/sun all day so if there were going to be problems I'm sure they would have happened by now.

I don't disagree with your other points nor this one really. Just wanted to point out that this isn't an issue for everyone. I realize I'm not normal either. Most people around here, even locals, seem to not hold up in the heat/humidity as well as I do. The downside is I can't tolerate the cold at all. The current weather is mild and I'm already hating it.

Just wanted to add that if you're worried about the sweat you can wear a wife beater to put something between the holster/gun and your skin if you're really worried about this. A wife beater + light long sleeve shirt shouldn't be a problem in the heat here if you're a local. I often go with that or even three layers (t-shirt) in the summer. Again, I realize I'm not normal but this is pretty standard for most farmers in the South. Most people that work fields here opt for long sleeves because you need protection from various things like hay/straw/bryers while working the fields. It also keeps the sun from burning you alive. Hell I often wear gloves and a wide hat too while working in the fields during the summer. Works a lot better than sunscreen.

Stomach is flat so I carry in front at 1 or 11 o'clock IWB, I use a belly band when doing something more physical.
Never print, especially with any shirt that drapes.
Not worried about blasting off anything because my DA/SA has a manual safety.
I can open carry but I don't want a soccer mom encounter or the loss of the element of surprise.

I should also mention that although pocket carry makes for a very fast draw, that's ONLY if you spot the threat ahead of time and get your hand on the weapon before you need to. If I didn't have very good situational awareness, or if I regularly walked through a bad neighborhood where someone might jump me with zero warning, I'd carry appendix.

Appendix is faster than pocket in such a case, and in fact pocket carry has a higher rate of snags/botched draws (for me at least) and ends up slower than other IWB options. Appendix is probably the best all-round option when you can't open carry.

HOWEVER, and I apologize for the lengthy post, if I were walking around in a bad neighborhood or something, I could just as easily keep my hand in my pocket in the full combat grip the entire time without drawing any suspicion.

I hear this reasoning a lot from people who prefer not to open carry. I used to feel the same way, but then I started open carrying just to see what it was like. Turns out, almost nobody notices I have a gun on me.
Also, if a criminal were deciding whether to attack me, the visible gun could either be a deterrent or make me a target depending on, I think, how I present myself and my body language. I present myself as someone who is aware of his surroundings. I walk confidently, don't distract myself with my cell phone, etc. Bad guys choose easy victims.

This happens every once in a while, and it's annoying as hell. Those conversations usually end with "Ma'am, I apologize if my firearm makes you uncomfortable. However, it is not against the law for me to carry it openly. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue shopping/walking/whatever." Upon the threat of "I'm calling the police!" I usually say, "While you have them on the phone, ask them if I'm breaking the law." Any resulting police encounters have not given me any trouble. In one case, I actually called the non-emergency number for the local police and told them, "Hey, just a heads-up: the lady that just called you about a man with a gun at [wherever] simply doesn't know that open carrying is legal. Is it possible to have someone call her back and explain the law to her so we don't have to waste your officer's time or my own?"

I don't know if there's any statistical data to back up whether or not open carry makes victimization more or less likely, but anti-gun faggots using the police to harass open carriers are the biggest reason to concealed carry instead (especially selfish of those people when some departments require an in-person response to every call). Inconvenience isn't even the heart of it. Some people may endanger you by calling 911 with deliberately false information.

Some other reasons: If you have a CC permit but choose to OC instead, you may lose the CC permit, especially if the aforementioned calls happen. You're going to end up doing CC anyway if you choose to ignore the no-gun signs that some places have posted, and you should be consistent in how you choose to carry.

The only people who will be impressed are other open carriers. Not worth it IMO.

It also depends on the area in which you live. I'm in rural Pennsylvania… I just don't run into hardcore anti-gunners that often. A soccer mom here or there, sure, but the cops around here are on our side. (side note: PA police in general are actually scumbags, but they know the gun laws and will not hassle you at all as long as you're not one of those I KNOW MY RIGHTS AM I BEING DETAINED idiots.)

I don't OC to impress anybody, and I'm not one of those open carry elitist faggots who goes on and on about muh reaction time and whatnot. It just works well for me, hasn't caused me any major problems, and I lean toward the "OC is a deterrent" argument rather than "OC makes me a target" in my particular circumstances.

This is a good point, and it's something I gave a lot of thought to when I started carrying the way I do. Turns out, since I OC 95+% of the time, the few times I CAN'T OC I'm hyper-aware of the fact that my gun is missing. This hyper-awareness switches me into the mode where I grab for my pocket gun first.

OC is definitely not for everyone, and that's fine. In the end, it's all about what works for you. I'm not really trying to argue for or against it.

True about PA police, I haven't had a real problem with them (yet) but I'm nowhere near Philly either. As I said in the other thread, OC is good for normalizing guns, and that's going to be a huge boon for the gun community.

The idea being that if people are more aware of faggot-free OC in their day to day lives, it becomes cultural. OC has its advantages and disadvantages but overall I encourage it for normalizing the conversation. No minds are changed online ever, but conversation in person about guns, taking people to the range, that helps.

I actually did get pulled over in Philly with a gun in my car. I gave him the old "before we speak further, I just wanted you to be aware that I have a licence to carry firearms and I have a loaded handgun in a holster under my passenger seat. I can step out of the car if that would make you more comfortable." He pretty much said "no, that's fine" and didn't mention it again. I handed him my LTCF with my driver's license. Several friends have had trouble with Philly cops acting super aggressive with them while CCing though, but they're the douchey "I KNOW MY RIGHTS! AM I BEING DETAINED?" type who think that rights are like muscles and will atrophy without "exercise."

Usually either pocket strong side, or OWB strong side and pocket weak side. Used to carry AIWB regularly, but anymore I'm either in a non-permissive environment (Hence the pocket only carry), or a rural area where mixed OWB concealed/open carry isn't a big deal.

Is it harder to carry a pistol concealed with a red dot if said red dot is mounted on the front, like in pic related? And does it impact how it's aimed in any way? I don't imagine that it would cause any problems, but I'm not in a position to actually test it.

Depends on the gun, if i'm carrying my 4 inch .38, i'll carry it left side in a tanker holster under a shirt. If it's my 1911 it's right side out the waste band. usually directly above the pocket.

I carry a 4 inch barrel K frame S&W on some occasions, but mostly a 6 inch barrel N frame or my 1911. I also always wear suits and coats when I can, or a large shirt if I have to in work clothes. 1911 goes in a shoulder rig with two magazines, my revolvers in a standard service right on the right side on a belt. I don't worry too much about printing, I live in a rural area that is extremely pro gun and as mentioned, wear heavy clothes that conceal even big pieces.

For the greater risk of printing I enjoy greater comfort, ease of access, quick and smooth draw. I probably won't be attacked here, almost no crime, but I have the best setup you can have. I have seen people try IWB and not carry because its uncomfortable, or change positions. I know most people dont' dress formal on most occasions and have to make due, but luckily I don't have to.

Also, you get a good, constant lesson in why 4 inch barrels on revolvers replaced 5.5 inch standard service barrels on patrol and service guns. Whenever you get into a car with a service rig, the 4 inch revolvers are smooth entry and exit, the 6 inch barrels are just long enough to give you trouble. A lot of the wear on my M27, if not most, is when the holster gets jostled getting in and out of cars quickly.

I think he takes to long to get to the point and his body armor one was kinda dumb but from what I saw was he only tested Kevlar and not hard plates inserts body armor.

What makes a good belt?

Rigidity. a belt designed for use with a gun won't develop a nasty sag or stretch. some do it using nylon, (the crossbreed belts are this way iirc) some use a steel core. like the bigfoot belts. Some just make the belt thicker than a babies arm.

I had a bitch of a time finding a decent holster so I went to hobby lobby and bought some leather and slapped together a holster exactly how I wanted it. It looks like frankenstein shat it out but its pretty fucking perfect. and it cost me like $20 worth of leather scraps and such.

Clinger holsters has some pretty good ones and they give you two weeks to test it out.

I'm kind of overweight, basically like OP. I use a belly band for my M&P Shield 9mm. Two extra mags in a jacket pocket.
Super comfortable, low profile, and I can wear nice dress shirts over it with no problem.

Bought a shoulder holster from Galco recently. I figured it would be the most comfortable option since my job requires a lot of sitting and I regularly wear a jacket in all seasons so it would conceal nicely. I've already got it fitted and it's remarkably comfy. What's your opinion on shoulder holsters Zig Forums?

They're fine if you get a good one. Personally my favorite method since it works in all weather with most outfits. However, don't be that asshole who muzzle flags everyone at all times by using one of the holsters that points rearward.
