Bi-Annual Zig Forums Meta Thread
Note: Thread will be bumplocked to prevent its appearance in the headlines. I'll watch it for at least a week/until it falls off the board (whichever happens first), and after that you'll need to report your post if you want me to see it. Technically we're not supposed to have these, but I've got suspicions that a large number of our posts/IPs are spawning from a handful of anons, and at least two of them are spammers/1 of them is Andrew. While it's always nice to see our posts above Zig Forums, I don't want it to be from inorganic means (even if some of their means might be inorganic). Apologies in advance Porchmonkey, but I feel this thread is necessary given the state of the board/the abruptness with which I came in around the same time as the lolcow who was pushing full force. I'll try to keep these threads limited or non-existent in the future.

Recap of what I enforce rules-wise:
1) Follow Global Rules (has only been an issue once here to my knowledge)
2) No spamming (blanket 24 hour ban except in extreme cases)
3) As Zig Forums was a SFW board under Hotwheels, I spoiler and/or delete all porn and gore given context of the post. I apply a mixture of American and European standards of what is considered porn (nipples in artistic context are ok but nipples in sexual context get spoilered)
4) Delete non-news (I've been opting to bumplock instead lately, this is basically just used for fake news and satire)
5) Delete/Bumplock blog posts/opinion pieces
6) Bumplock news that was bumped that is older than 1 month and doesn't have a very active & current discussion on it
How an article is determined to be a blog post/opinion piece or a news article:
If the answer to both is yes, it's news. If the answer to either is no, it's most likely not news.
Proposed Changes:
7) Satire/Actual fake news will be given a 48 hour grace period if it's funny/good before a bumplock is tossed on it.
8) Get rid of rule 5 (this would unfortunately also open the floodgates for other shit that's clearly not news, and I won't enforce a rule inconsistently if it can be helped)
9) News from non-news sources/written by anons will be allowed if the article is written in good faith no "500 CHARACTERS" bullshit- actually write an article, and use a relevant link in your article.
As this is a meta thread, how are you feeling about the direction this board is going compared to a few months ago with all the spam? It took me a while to get it mostly cleaned up. I feel like a lot of the activity has been inorganic (and it bothers me that anons aren't using archive.fo but I can live with that much). I go after the opinion pieces on the weekends a little more strictly but I really am crunched for time/mostly just act as a contingency to prevent major spam/hit it when I see it while browsing the Zig Forumsews on lunch break and such. As per the "Johnny Neptune" question, that's a grey area. Generally he's harmless, and while he shitposts, he doesn't do anything too drastic. I do hit him with spam when he does spam though (and usually use B&D+ to prevent wasting my own time sifting through the garbage that is the IP hash history).
Basically use this thread for discussing Zig Forums meta shit and I'm watching the thread even if I don't respond very often.
