The United Nations has issued a damning condemnation of Donald Trump's policy that saw migrant children separated from their parents at the border, suggesting it "may amount to torture".
In a statement issued by the UN's Human Rights Council, experts said the president's recent executive order, ostensibly to halt the controversial separations, failed to resolve the problem and "may lead to indefinite detention of entire families in violation of international human rights standards".
“This executive order does not address the situation of those children who have already been pulled away from their parents. We call on the government of the US to release these children from immigration detention and to reunite them with their families based on the best interests of the child, and the rights of the child to liberty and family unity,” the group of 11 experts said.
“Detention of children is punitive, severely hampers their development, and in some cases may amount to torture,” the experts said. “Children are being used as a deterrent to irregular migration, which is unacceptable.”
Then what do they want? Kids to be held in a center that is a paradise compared to where they came from, Or should they not be separated from their parents?

And what does detained the migrants, here in the USA, actually accomplish? You're providing them with free shelter and food, costing taxpayer money, and they can't WORK to put any money back into the economy. Illegal immigrants DO contribute, even if it's not through taxes, because they must buy food and clothes and pay rent and shit to survive; much of that money does go back into the economy. But while jailed they are CERTAINLY only draining resources, because they cannot work.
Meanwhile, if they're deported, they don't drain the USA's resources. Isn't that the POINT? Because if you haven't figured this shit out, maybe you haven't realized you're punching at your own shadow.

Most illegals buy food at specific local shops that avoid taxes, shop for clothes and such through stores that pay a fraction of the taxes they're supposed to as "non-profits" that are actually for-profit (like Goodwill Industries) and they pay rent to slum lords who tend to not report their income in the first place.
None of this is necessarily bad since taxation is theft, but you have to understand when your wages are paid under-the-table, you don't generally turn around and invest that money back into the economy or pay real taxes on it whether directly through your purchases or otherwise. My single parent GF was arrested on misdemeanor possession charge and was incarcerated from that day until her 1 year sentence was served.
Where do you think her son was the whole time? He was detained and the state made guardian over him. He was housed in a group home environment just like these immigrant kids.
