Hey Zig Forums, I am so sorry if this isn't an appropriate thread to make, please delete if this isn't allowed. I had a feeling I should post here though, I have noticed the Orthodox community of Utah is trying to fund raise enough money to purchase land to create their main building, due to the fact they're growing so rapidly that they can't handle the amount of people.
The problem is, they had a 2,000,000 dollar goal thats due this Sunday, and they are only at 200,000.
I'm not even baptized Orthodox myself, but I came here to ask if there's anyway we can help? I could assume a deal can be made and MAYBE some time could be bought, but just praying this could work out in the end.
Again, please delete if this isn't allowed. I just wanted to get some help and spread the word. Just maybe there is some connections that could be made?

As you know, we have been under contract on a beautiful parcel of land to build another church in the southern valley. The contract is for 2 million dollars, which is a huge amount! Yet, our small but growing community has, by your loving generosity, raised over $275,000 at this writing! It may be far from 2 million, but I am very amazed!
Thus, with the due diligence deadline coming up in about 2 weeks on May 13th, we are trying a final plan for this property:
As of tonight, we offered the seller a new deal: We will buy half of the 10 acres, the north 5 acres of the property for $625,000. Please pray that the seller will have a soft heart and agree to this deal. I have been praying fervently to God, and His Holy Mother, and all the Saints that by a miracle we can purchase this property. May God show the way!
If it IS God's will for a church to be there, He will make it happen! Please pray fervently! Please, if you know anyone who is blessed with wealth, please approach them boldly and ask them to help us. Maybe He will send the whole amount and we can buy all 10 acres! Or minimally we can procure 5 acres. We need property ASAP!
If it is NOT God's will to have this property, we will keep diligently fundraising and searching for the right property. God will take care of us. Let us pray fervently.

It's ripe for growth, Utah is a very traditional state as it is. So if the orthodox play their cards right, and even, if it, is, for the long haul for how ever many years they should do well. It's not San Diego, New york city, these degenerate non traditional places. Also first orthodox cemetery in the state would be nice.

Catholic here, I would donate if I had money, but unfortunately I am a young Brazillian who is going to college and still lives with his parents, so i cant. But the Church that is going to be built better be a proper church, not one of these modernist abominations that infest the western world. I honestly think that whoever created the disgusting modern architeture was a servant of the Devil and is probably in Hell by now.

Leaving is not how evangelization works. We used to send missionaries abroad and they had to build up from zero too. In all honesty since their community is growing, a huge church building, school and community center would make for a HUGE investment missionary-wise.

The serious Orthodox heresies are the rejection of papal supremacy, the rejection of Latin theology concerning the Holy Spirit's procession, the rejection of Purgatory, and the rejection of the fact that, yes, unleavened bread can be used for the Eucharist. Divorce and remarriage isn't really an issue, it had been the Byzantine practice long before the schism (in fact, most of the Orthodox stuff on divorce and remarriage is just taken from St Basil's epistles). East and West just have different understandings of the sacrament of marriage. However, that they're fine with contraception and semi-fine with abortion is extremely grave and blasphemous.

You need a million dollars to build anything larger than a ranch house, doesn't matter what its purpose is. I can promise it's not cheap to build in Russia either.
It's cheap nowhere, but it is affordable for a community to buy their own land and build their own church in Russia, since the land in the OP would only cost you a fraction of the price. Moreover, the Church would likely finance all of it, because in a country where there is one Church for all - as it is meant to be - it is much easier to raise money and build new churches. Jewmerica will never be a country of Christ, leave while you still can.
Well, yeah. We are working on making a primacy that's acceptable for both, and reflects the first millennium. The entire debate for the past 600 years, has been "the greek understanding is right. We just need to convince them we actually mean like that", not vice-versa.
