My sister, who was raised a strict Baptist like me, has now become Hindu. I am beyond furious and so is my family. But now it makes sense though why she decided not to go to church with us for Easter and Christmas this year and why she hasn't invited us over to her apartment in a long time. Sneaky Paganess!
My father told me she has over a dozen idols of false gods like Krishna or whatever the hell and other Hindu demons and even has a small altar to conduct rituals on. I want to be the real man her and smash her idols which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell when I go over to her apartment tomorrow. What's the best course of action here?
Maybe. But I'm suspect maybe if she's doing this she was never really saved in the first place. If that's the truth then I want to help her get saved. Either way though, even if she is truly saved, an apostate is an apostate and an idol is an idol. They both need to be rooted out and brought to the truth. Smash idols and lead apostates back to Christ.
Ryan Harris
You know what, screw this I'm just going to do it. Wish me luck Zig Forums.
Jayden Bell
use a stout hammer
Joseph Cruz
Good luck Baptist-sama, don't drive her away from the faith though. Pray that in time she'll see the error of her ways.
Aaron Ross
Sledge Hammer or hand held hammer, what should I use Zig Forums? I also have an axe and a hatchet, too dangerous maybe?
Robert Adams
You know this is going to strengthen her belief tbh
Michael Walker
No it's not, she's going to learn about the wrath of the LORD!
Nicholas Clark
You can't become a Hindu. You're born into a caste. What she practices is some Western new-age Hindu-inspired spiritualism or something.
Grayson Sanchez
You know, it probably won't matter anyways if you smash them. She's almost guaranteed just an atheist that bought some Hindu shit for her apartment to show off to her new age stoner friends how "spiritual" she is.
Kevin Foster
I think God cares. If you do it do it for Him. God comes first.
Isaiah Allen
Don't care. I don't want any of that demonic shit anywhere in my family! I will be the man here and stand up for the faith and well being of my family. Her idols are winnie the pooh done tomorrow.
Jaxon Baker
Well go for it then my man. Just figured it needed to be said.
Also this OP, remember to pray for her as well. She's not your enemy, the pagan shit is.
Jose Morris
You sound like you're LARPing tbqh
Hudson Wood
So you're going to break into your sister's apartment and smash her Hindu statues? Definitely LARPing.
David Hill
Offtopic, but Out of all the POOH religions, it had to be h*ndu?
Also when you sister decides to sue you for destroying her stuff, make sure to delete this thread
Jacob Kelly
Civil liability aside, vandalism and destruction of property is a crime. She can rightfully call the police and press criminal charges in addition to the civil suit.
Hudson Brooks
Maybe OP can begome a prison preacher
Cooper Wood
^This.
Most New Age Nihilistic Atheist "Hindus"/"Buddhists"/"Wiccans"/etc. don't take their "gods"/religious worldview seriously enough to make the "My idols/"gods" were destroyed: this must be a sign that my "gods" are inferior! I will repent and come over to the One True God!" leap. Even in the Old Testament, when the Tabernacle was captured and proceeded to pwn idols and cities left and right as it was passed from pagan town to pagan town in a game of hot potato, was not enough to make said pagans repent. All you will accomplish is breeding ill will, and hand her more anti-Christian ammunition on a silver platter in the form of another "Those crazy Fundy Christians!" story she can relay to her other New Age Nihilist friends; not to mention potential prison time as others have noted.
Remember: Christ called us to higher standards of human behavior in the New Covenant for a reason: he foresaw conundrums like this coming up. Even when the apostles implored Jesus to go full "Sodom and Gommorah" fire and brimstone on a town that had spurned them he said "No, we do not do that anymore."
Easton Gutierrez
If she was saved then yes, but I highly doibt anyone that's saved can stray that far away. Also it's sin so should tell her stop.
Now this brings up an interesting question: is it wrong to have shit like this in a non-religious manner? I bought my non-denom mother a little Ganesha statue a year or two back, cuz it looked nice and I wanted to get her something from the ren-fair. No altar or anything, has pretty much been sitting on a small table in the corner and no one really acknowledges it anymore. Should I chuck it or no?
Scandal in the Catholic sense, that someone seeing this and knowing you as a Christ, may presume it's ok to keep genuine false idols around the house. Or, they may assume you are not a true Christian and may be a LARPER in disguise, or several other scandalous assumptions that bring dishonor upon you, and may bring sin onto others.

Why would you even buy it? it just disgusting

It just looks goofy and novel to me. I give the poos this, they have some good aesthetic taste when it comes to sculpting/illustration.

Can't wait for the baptist mental gymnastics
Christian Miller
>Hmm how do I win my sister's soul back I can't even blame Baptists for this line of thought.
I guess when they broke down the altars of false gods before, it was just to convert the idolators and no other reason. For instance, such as having respect for God. But this "line of thought" just reflects your own godless mentality. God doesn't even come into the equation. Also on top of that you are acting like a passive soyboy who thinks we all need to compromise to get along in every situation. Gideon broke down his father's altar and he didn't ask permission first, but I guess he was wrong to do that, we should all just hold hands together with the Baal worshippers,. And whisper to them sweet words of mutual understanding. If only we would just give a little bit more compromise and a bit more understanding, one day we would be as good and virtuous as you are and the world would just be a better place. If only everyone were as willing to compromise to demands as you are!
Like I said, I wouldn't want to be like you. That's how you got like this. So why don't you just go into a corner and just keep signalling how virtuous you are away from everyone else.
Matthew Moore
Yeah, do it, turn her away from Christianity forever. She will respond 100% positively to getting her shit smashed. She will return to the fold immediately and love you more than anything and not think you're totally insane.
Aaron King
I guess (you) are also a faggot enabler for the mere fact (you) have yet to burn down a sodomite night club.
Robert Perry
Just pray to god and sacrifice some of your own idols. Internet, articles of popular culture, video games etc are all contemporary idols so maybe your answer is a mirror, and through this faith then mercy might be granted.
Mason James
Strawmanning out the whazoo here.
Gideon was absolutely correct in doing what he did, as were the other idol destroyers of the Old Testament. But Gideon et al. were also dealing with pagans whose faith was so connected with the idols that they could be shut down by just breaking their stuff (and even then, it didn't always work.). The Nihilist New Age Neopagans of today are a different breed. Their idols are just window dressing for their vaguely "spiritual but not religious" free-for-all worldview. OP breaking into his sister's house and smashing her stuff is just going to anger her, make him come off as a nut, and possibly land him in jail.
I.e. see post here
OP obviously shouldn't compromise, and hold hands and sing Kumbaya with her, but breaking, entering and vandalizing is the opposite extreme in terms of stupidity and will just create more problems.
Daniel Rogers
Thinking about it more, since the crime is based on hatred of sister's religion, it'll probably be prosecuted as a hate crime.
Justin Nelson
I'd say something more akin to a domestic dispute, hope they find a good Christian judge.
Depends on how the prosecution wants to handle it. Most likely her lawyer would prosecute it as hate crime and destruction of property, but would be willing to make a deal with OP to get the charges down to "domestic dispute".
Depending on how angry he makes his sister, she may not even offer a deal.
If OP doesn't follow up with us in the next two days, we can assume he went through with it and is currently sharing a cot with Bubba.
Parker Robinson
It's a false idol of a real religion.
Carter Watson
It means nothing more than an amusing ornament to us. Think of it this way, is a museum a pagan temple because it houses graven forms of gods whose names were long forgotten by men?
Chase Sanchez
A museum is a museum. Having a false idol in your own house-hold is demonstrably different. Would you take up a feast under the honor of a false idol? No? Then why do you bring a false idol into your house-hold?
Ryder Flores
Tell her that even if Hinduism is the true religion then according to its teachings what she's done to dishonor and dismay her family and caste and community by apostatizing from Christianity has accrued enough bad karmic debt to her that in her next life she's guaranteed not to reincarnate as a human but rather an insect or at best a dog and that violating her social bonds and norms so severely has only moved her further from Moksha.
Ayden Rogers
Demons are sometimes attracted by mere cigarette smoke or drawn curtains and here you have a full on image of a demon in your house. :/
This sounds like the kind of shit televangelists talk about for views.
James Brooks
mfw good luck, op, maybe you can evangelize in prisons

Nope. Heard it from an exorcist.

Adrian Sanders
Why do you ignore the Gospel on this? You've been reprimanded several times with either tradition, or scripture.
You reject tradition AND scripture on this. No, not even a Protestant can agree with you when even Scripture forbids this.
Josiah Watson
I haven't seen anything posted in the repsonses I got. No verses, nothing. And this "tradition" you speak of is Catholic, yes?
Lincoln Anderson
Behold Israel according to the flesh: are not they, that eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar ? 19What then ? Do I say, that what is offered in sacrifice to idols, is any thing ? Or, that the idol is any thing ? 20But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils. 21You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord, and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and of the table of devils. 22Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy ? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient.
Brody Roberts
But that's talking about worship. I don't even recall the last time it was dusted.
Jeremiah Evans
Why do you insist on provoking the Lord to jealously? You have one God, why do you allow a false idol into your house-hold?
but enough already, how many times do we have to tell you it's a bad idea?
Isaac Diaz
...
Christian Reyes
Why are you slandering an exorcist you've never known in order to insult me? No, this exorcist is not a televangelist, nor even Protestant.
Demons are worshiped through idols. The Bible is very clear on that. Revelation 9:20, Leviticus 17:7, Deuteronomy 32:17, 1 Corinthians 10:20. You should dispose of this thing at once. The Bible is clear on that, too. Acts 19:19.
You have chosen to keep an instrument of demonic worship in your home. You are keeping an open invitation to demons for infestation, oppression, and possession of your property, yourself, or the members of your household.
Yet you refuse to accept correction from fellow Christians. If you ask me, that's a potential sign that the invitation has already been accepted.
I hope you realize how stupid this is. A curtain is a bloomin' door made of fabric, and tobacco is just a plant. What about pipe smoke? Or chewing tobacco? I close my curtains to avoid flashing the neighbors when I'm changing, how does having curtains closed attract demons? What about other plants in Solanaceae? Do demons like eggplants and tomatoes? If I burn some tomatoes in the oven, do demons appear in my house?
Austin Clark
It isn't stupid.
They're attracted to dark places and dislike sunlight because it reminds them of God, which is partly why demoniacs often retreat to lightless places like tombs and crypts and caves, as mentioned in the Gospels, and why Satan appeared to Muhammad in a cave. If you keep your curtains closed all the time in your home, a demon will feel welcome there. An intense preference for darkness is characteristic of spiritual disorder in humans.
Like Satan, demons are spirits of the air. Just as the smell of burning sacrificial flesh was pleasing to God at His altars, certain kinds of smoke appeal to demons, particularly a few kinds of incense and tobacco and sulfur and burning human flesh, which is why these smokes were produced in pagan rituals, and continue to be called for in various occult incantations. Tobacco in particular was used in native American shamanistic and more organized religious rites.
Other things can draw demonic attention, such as the presence of desecrated religious objects, dolls and other objects in human form, animal carcasses or human corpses or bones, funerary paraphernalia, occult or Satanist paraphernalia, nudity or pornography, objects formerly belonging to demoniacs or occultists, places where murders have taken place, murder weapons, pagan idols, certain forms of music or chanting, etc.
By all means, you can continue to call me stupid if you want, but the above and much more is all well documented in the exorcist and demonology and occult literature. Demons are persons. Like human personalities, demons exhibit predilections for certain types of places and objects that resonate with their sensibilities, and these predilections have been carefully noted and correlated by people who study and treat cases of demonic activity over the past several millennia.
Anyway, quit smoking and let the sunshine in is good advice in general.
Ryan Roberts
You're aware of the fact that demons are immaterial, right ? They are fallen angels as is satan himself. If any, bad intention draws them near. Sin. The will to offend God [gravely and on purpose] - whether out of malicious intent or "just tryin'". It's not the incense, not the candles, not the vestments satanshits are wearing and whatever you can think of. Now get your hollywood-driven internet occultism away from this board, back to /x/ or some sh't. You're just scandalizing people that have poor theological backgrounds.
Jackson Robinson
Yes, I'm aware of that fact.
Yes, as I stated clearly in the very post you're replying to.
Anyway, ever heard of the Dunning Kruger effect?
You're so deep and spiritually insightful.
I don't practice occultism. That's a false accusation right there, and you owe me an apology.
Nor is anything I've stated derived from Hollywood or internet culture sources. Another false accusation.
I got the above information from the Bible and directly from demonology literature.
Such as yourself?
Brody Sanchez
Your reading comprehension is just as bad as your supposed knowledge. Just drop it. It's a scandalous topic.
That isn't even a response and you might as well have written nothing.
My contributions are appropriate given the topic of the thread and if people want to take issue with anything I've written I'll respond. Now please withdraw you false accusations.

It isn't true. I never insulted your intelligence. You posted a picture of a handicapped little girl as a reaction image to my post. You've insulted me needlessly, you're a false accuser, and you're a hypocrite. I forgive you.

This is a Talmudic teaching. D R O P P E D R O P P E D
So let me get this straight. I got my information on basic demonology from:
1) a Protestant televangelist 2) the Catholic Church (which is secretly Satanic by the way) 3) Hollywood 4) /x/ 5) my occult wizard practices 6) the Talmud
Surely it can't be all of the above, can it?
Why has no one asked me for citations instead of trying to poison the well like this?
James Cox
Anyway, my original point was that the one poster should dispose of the pagan idol in his possession because it might attract a demon if it hasn't already done so.
I worry that the side comment about darkness and smoke that I made offhand in addition to the main and more pertinent point has been seized on with such personal animosity merely as a red herring in order to disregard my main point and change the topic to the finer points of demonology, which I didn't intend to discuss in depth, which is to say, in order to derail the thread from the issue of idols.
I'd like to return to my original point about the one idol and urge that poster to destroy it and throw it away immediately.
As for the demonology, I don't care to continue the discussion unless anyone has new objections to raise (rather than repeating the same dismissals or lobbing personal insults or accusations), or is curious to learn my actual sources instead of offering more insinuations.
I also don't hold anything against the other user who earlier wrongly guessed my sources and that I practice the occult. Those seem like easy enough assumptions to make, so no worries.
