Remember 2 months ago that reddit post from a father complaining that his son was a Fundamentalist? How many here were unironically in the same situation as the kid? I'm currently 18, and I converted to Christianity when I was 11 after a neighbor friend of mine took me to church one night. My parents have always been secular, and they still get so triggered every time I explain to them how degenerate faggotry is. They're both the earliest of 30+ boomers, so it's not surprising.

This is sort of odd, but my parents are those kids. Raised in Charismatic/Pentecostal homes that embraced the "name it & claim it" and all of the Pentecostal spiritual gifts. They were generally quite liberal in how they raised their kids, too.

My parents were attracted to the Reformed faith soon after their marriage hit a difficult stage and they devoured much of the theological richness provided for those who have been starved. They raised us conservatively, but always making sure that we knew where our hearts are is more important than what we're doing. My grandparents were/are pretty shocked and disappointed. They see expository preaching, weekly Lord's Supper, traditional music, catechisms, etc. as legalistic and fruitless.

I've appreciated much of what I've received in the Reformed tradition (I'm currently 20), I have a large library of Reformed and evangelical works, and planned on attended Westminster Theological Seminary after finishing college. That said, I'm gravitating somewhat towards Orthodoxy; I still have serious hangups, though.

You're 18 and your parents are 'the earliest of 30+'? That would mean they had you around age 12.

At that age I was agnostic, leftard and skeptical.
After 21 I became the fanatic one in the family. I was an asshole a few times but overall nobody bothered. Except my grandfather, I heard giving thanks to God after remembering how I was when young.

Why bother posting here? Your thread will just get deleted anyway. May hell itself escort the mods to join his lord satan.

OP here. No they're not 30, I said 30+ in that they're over 30. They were both born 1981.

If your over 18 you're a boomer also.

Ok, see, is this another case of redefining a word to mean "people I don't like"? Boomers are the people who were born directly after WW2. People born in 1981 are Generation X, not Boomers.

It breaks down like this:
Boomers begat Hippies.
Hippies begat Generation X
Generation X begat Millennials
Millennials begat Generation Z

Your parents, if born in 1981, are young Gen X. I was born in 1972 and I'm considered Generation X.

I thought the Boomers were the hippies?

At 13-15 I was interested on my ancestors in the Japanese side and quickly became anti-communist, while still being Christian, debating against socialists and atheists on YouTube, I found Zig Forums before the elections and I read a right wing atheist discussion, accusing Christians of creating communism, they even had links, proof and all. I was mad by this but surprisingly I didn't become an Atheist but a mix of radical Shintoism and Amazon paganism, in secret from my parents, of course.

Found Zig Forums on my 18th birthday and converted back again, I'm going to a protestant Church every Sunday and it made me really happy to finally have friends and sane people around me. But I still wish I begame gadolic or ortodogs.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my parents might be Christian but they still think I'm getting ridiculously religious.

If you were born in 1940 - 1947ish which is when everyone was winnie the poohing like rabbits initially because all the men were going off to war and didn't know if they would be back to provide progeny, and after the war everyone was winnie the poohing like rabbits because they were like 'hey the wars over lets make babies!' then the generation born during this period would be between 18 and 28 during the summer of love at the height of hippiedom in '68, so I would have thought you're right on this

Oh, no wait … you're right. Boomers begat Gen X. My bad.

There are 30 year old boomers

Only if you redefine the word "Boomer".

The boomer generation ended in 1964.

the mindset yes, but they are not true boomers.

come on grandpa get with the times already

im very happy for you my friend, im glad you found the truth

Kikes and athiests were the ones ones who created communism, socialism, and democracy. during the times that socialism and communism was in full swing it was always secular pro democracy/republic socalists vs the religous pro monarchy/ fascist traditionalists.

Thank God that you became a protestant instead of a Pope Worshiper. there is nothing worse in the world than being a papist.

which makes sense, given a generation is normally considered as being 25 years -ish and I put the staring point at 1940..?
