At the same time, I doubt the veracity of your claim - I've certainly not seen any such news.
But the Catholic Church has survived things a hundred times worse than that, and personally I wouldn't mind at all if the Orthodox Church were investigated for corruption too.

There have always been priests tempted to homosexuality, user, and there probably always will be. There is no effective way to prevent them from becoming priests.
The issue is the culture of corruption which allowed them to operate and fornicate with one another in secret. Porn also significantly contributed, most likely, in corrupting these men even further into pedophilia. Repression + porn + access = pedophilia.
Lax condemnation of the culture of hebephilia prominent within homosexuality was also a factor. What you don't condemn strongly enough in the secular world will of course seep into the church.
