If having sex with your brother or sister is bad then how comes all humanity descends from adam and eve?
If having sex with your brother or sister is bad then how comes all humanity descends from adam and eve?
It's not bad in a moral sense, but it's a very, very terrible idea for the many reasons you've probably already heard about. The near descendants of Adam and Eve could do it because their genes were at least very close to perfect, that is, flawless. Harmful mutations hadn't accumulated to the extent that they did in Moses' time which made incest a risky affair. It really does explain the sudden decline in human lifespans after the Flood (the second bottleneck of human genetics), doesn't it?
Its bad nor for purely moral reasons but simply because it causes horrid results due to genetic mutations followed by incest.
Its sin, because its damaging your offsprings.
Adam and Eve were genetically perfect, so their children reproducing with each other wasn't bad. We've had plenty of genetic drift since then, so now when siblings reproduce their children have all kinds of bad recessive traits.
Now,
Begone, Satan. Atheist science is a hoax.
Brainlet.
Einstein did not believe in the Christian God or a personal god. Or an afterlife.
Easy there, kiddo.
This. Also, piss off back to cuckchan.
The word "Adam" is used in several different ways in Genesis 1-5. Some of those ways, especially in chapter one, grammatically cannot refer to a single individual's proper name.
It is quite possible that God created a group of humans, and set up a single man from among them as their federal priest on the mountain-garden Eden.
This user gets it.
Habsburgs did nothing wrong
yes, this is a Christian board. Not a burptist one.
Adam and Eve were sinners who reproduced out of lust.
Wait, what? Have you read Leviticus 18 even? In particular the former, a full third of it is basically "DON'T HAVE SEX WITH YOUR SIBLINGS/PARENTS/CLOSE RELATIVES" repeated like about 500 times. It sounds like a pretty big deal, and a pretty clear cut instruction. It's also hardly the only place in the Bible it's mentioned as an issue, as well.
Your fan fiction is bad.
Lurk for 2 more years before posting again.
Then how come they didn't have sex before being banished from eden?
The post being replied to is still saying it isn't bad in a moral sense. Also were murder and beastiality not sins before God said they were?
You said "It's not bad in a moral sense". I am pointing out that it is wrong, in the present tense, based on what God has said. If God says something is a moral wrong, it is a moral wrong.
He's very, VERY adamant about it there in Leviticus, even including step-relatives/in-laws. That's not even explicitly consanguineous, you are not supposed to have sex with them either. In fact He directly follows this up with the more famously referenced - these days - instructions on bestiality and homosexuality (those lines causing immense rage with the crowd in the modern era), they are of the same general makeup. And as I said, it's referenced again in other sections. In Deuteronomy, and Ezekiel, and elsewhere. It's very important that you don't have sex with your family members.
Broof?
Having sex once won't necessarily make a woman instantly pregnant.
What is once moral is always moral. What was once permissible may not always be permissible. As far as I'm aware, nowhere in Leviticus does it say incest, excepting incest between parents and children, is actually immoral. It only says it is forbidden. Many things may be forbidden which are not immoral, but never the less are forbidden because it may lead to some immorality or for any number of practical reasons.
To see this, God gave the command to "Be fruitful and multiply" while the only ones this was given to was Adam and Eve. It must be that Adam and Eve's children, being the only other humans on earth, were therefore given only the option to commit incest. In fact, this is a necessity for the shared ancestry of mankind all the way back to Adam, contrary to this user .
This would mean that God commanded the children of Adam and Eve to commit sin, since there was no other way to propagate the human race. However, God does not command anyone to sin. Therefore, incestual relations between siblings are not, in themselves, sin. Indeed, Abraham had his half sister as wife, and it is improper to believe that Abraham and Sarah sinned by this.
You're overthinking it and missing the point.
This again
No, he's not. You're underthinking it.
It's simple: incest was not biblically forbidden until the Levitical laws, which implies that it was perfectly fine before then, because the population bottlenecks of creation (Adam & Eve and their kids) and the Flood logically require incest in order to manage repopulation. Morality is based on God's unchanging character; morality doesn't change. God forbad incest because it now has secondary effects that are sinful to cause that formerly didn't exist. Incest is not immoral in and out of itself, but it is immoral because you're pissing in the gene pool with full knowledge (that God even helpfully imparted to us) that that is exactly what you're doing.
