"Donald Trump’s $1.5 trillion tax cut has increased incentives to replace workers with robots, contradicting his campaign promise to restore well-paying manufacturing jobs in the nation’s heartland.
The Trump tax bill permits “U.S. corporations to expense their capital investment, through 2022. So, if a U.S. corporation buys a robot for $100 thousand, it can deduct the $100 thousand immediately to calculate its U.S. taxable income, rather than recover the $100 thousand over the life of the robot, as under prior law,” Steven M. Rosenthal, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute and a specialist in tax policy, wrote me by email."

HINT: I also read once that trump is a 'master negotiator', a savvy businessman who had perfected 'the art of the deal'…
Random House PPublishing Company hhad hired Tony Schwartz to write the book, and pretend like it was written by Trump, who actually lies about being a billionaire.
It turns out that Trump actually oonly has around $330 million, is a TERRIBLE negotiator, a shitty businessman who LOST billions of dollars of other people's money, and is publicly ridiculed by actual billionaires who know him in real life.

>(((Rosenthal))) Seriously though, the tax effect isn't that big of a consideration when corporations will have to declare more profits in future years. If a corporation is choosing between automation and human labor, the fact that they have to pay more taxes in future years isn't that much of a deal breaker.

A TRUE STORY:
there was once a nightclub in Ontario called BILE tha was one of the busiest nightclubs on earth.
another nightclub opened across the street, suddenly BILE started to lose customers. The place across the street was now filled to capacity, while BILE was like a ghost town.
The owner of BILE had a brilliant idea: A ROBOT DJ !!..
as soon as the Robot DJ was activated, the crowds came back to BILE, and the place across the street was empty.
Two days later, the place across the street had a big sign outside that said 'TWO ELECTRO DJ ROBOTS!'
of course, the crowds abandoned BILE and it's measly One Robot DJ and packed the dancefloor across the street. BILE's owner, a savvy businessman, instantly hired two more Robot DJs, and advertised 'Come Dance To The Funky Beats Of Our THREE ELECTRO DJ ROBOTS!!'
the next night, BILE's dancefloor was a madhouse. The fire marshal almost shut the club down due to the overcrowding.
That same night, the club across the street purchased a brand new Japanese M-3000 deluxe model robotic DJ, and sent a barback over to BILE to run around the dancefloor telling people that they now had FOUR ELECTRO DJ ROBOTS across the street.
within minutes, all of BILE's customers ran across the street, and left the BILE dancefloor completely empty.
The next day, frustrated and despondent, the owner of BILE was preparing to close his nightclubs doors forever, when suddenly he had an epiphany….
"We could get another Robotic DJ!!"
so that night he had Amazon deliver a revolutionary prototype nano DJ Robot, which was so small that it couldn't be seen with the naked eye.
He took out an ad in The Argus Observer, Ontario's newspaper, announcing that BILE was now the only nightclub on earth that featured 5 ELECTRO DJ ROBOTS
and within 15 minutes after opening the doors to BILE, the nightclub across the street filed for bankruptcy, and opened a tiny Asian-themed bar and tavern in Mexico City.

All the US needs to do is put a tarrif on importing robots from overseas and that will force them to buy US robots. Some unskilled mexicunts will have to go home because they are no longer needed but instead we would get a lot of highly skilled highly educated engineers making expensive robots.

No it won't if they'll be anywhere it will be here. China and Mexico factory locations will continue to use manual labor purely because it's still cheaper there to use manual labor. Plus China would make it illegal for foreign investment to do that because they have billions of worthless disposable hands and they need jobs.

There's no reason to do that once labor is out of the equation you fucking idiot. At that point shipping costs is the biggest overhead, and they'll minimize that like they minimized labor costs.

Reminder that robots are very much like parrots too. Exceptionalism is rare everywhere.. We can go 'round and 'round in circles on this, but the fact is that we are moving toward more automation of physical labor type jobs and there will be huge social upheavals as a result. Nobody knows how this will turn out, but I expect the majority of people will be satisfied living their lives in virtual reality, collecting their UBI gibs, while a very few people go on to lead exceptional lives – kinda exactly like it is now.
In this example, I'm not using the term to describe a guy who sits all by himself in front of a computer without having a girlfriend or interacting socially…
ROBOTIC BEHAVIOR: Human beings always claim that we are strong-willed free thinkers
Insisted that we don't let anybody tell us 'what to do' or 'what to think'
Our independence is something you'll be hold dear…
HOWEVER…. humans are robotic by nature (at least most of you are)
We stand in line and pay taxes and keep up with the score on the football game… We join churches and clubs and groups and the military…..
Most humans would rather die than to stick out of the crowd and go against the grain
True individuality is extremely rare
That's why stage hypnotism works, even though it's a complete sham… 99 out of 100 people would rather 'play along and bark like a dog', pretending to have been 'hypnotized' than to be the stick in the mud room ruins everything for the audience..

CLIMATE CHANGE:
I'm not sure how old you are, or if you've paid attention all those years…. But in the 55 years that I've been alive, I've noticed that the climate has ABSOLUTELY CHANGED.
we used to have Spring and Fall
and they each lasted 3 months
now, Spring and Fall last less than a week…
This process has happened iin less than one lifetime.
I'm not going to argue about the 'cause', whether it's a man-made problem or part of a natural biorhythm…..
(even though I know in my heart that it's man-made)

I did not expect this thread to display so much depth. Also, to get back on the topic of sex robots.. I wonder if sex with a robot would feel robotic? Because sex that feels robotic just isn't very titillating to me. I don't think robots will ever be able to do many of the things humans can do much better, although most humans are little more than robotic automatons right now, as it is. But humans are highly adaptable, especially if provided enough incentive. AI and robotics may provide the incentives for taking the evolutionary leap that changes humankind forever. Change is neither bad nor good. It just is. Bad and good are just perspectives based on lack of information regarding every other perspective. Besides, perspectives are notoriously unreliable as indicators of the Naked Truth, because they are all based on cognitive perturbations surrounding the use of perceptual tools.
I wasnt really arguing whether the climate has changed or not throughout the course of time. If you go back far enough, the earth was a molten ball of rock with intense volcanism and no atmosphere to slow down meteors that bombarded the planet. Climate change is such a vague term its always true. I was only making the point that modern climate change is cult like behavior. Part of being in the cult is the belief that if you give money to a person who is way richer than you are things will be better better for future generations after you die. Its a classic cult scam arrangement thats as old as time.
if you stop and consider how quickly the human race has destroyed everything else on this planet, the giant islands of garbage and microplastics floating in the ocean, dumping toxic waste, nuclear 'melt-throughs' like Fukushima or Chernobyl, the overprescribing and idiotic incorrect dosing protocol of antibiotics rendering the greatest medical achievement iin history useless in only 50 years, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc…..
I don't see any reason to foolishly assume that we aren't also responsible for climate change
In fact, there's a ZERO PERCENT PROBABILITY that we aren't responsible for it….

Sorry im not giving money to some rich politician to fly around the world making passionate speeches on climate change based on your assumption. I would rather they focused on stuff like microplastics. Interestingly microplastics in the water supply was first brought to mainstream attention by controversial radio host Alex Jones quite a number of years before the mainstream caught on. I always wondered if the mainstream news would continue to ignore the subject after he got depersoned.

The Native Americans caused the Sabre Tooth Tiger to become extinct. Imagine how awesome a Sabre Tooth Tiger would be? Better than a tasmanian one I would imagine.

While indeed DO choose to believe that we are expediting climate change, I'm NOT one of those people who's stupid enough to think that it's reversible at this point, nor do I think becoming an 'activist' makes any difference.

That would actually work. So its better than 99% of arguments i've heard.
The thing is most people look at green issues in terms of making the climate nice for humans. If Im understanding you correctly, you're looking at it in terms of whats good for all the animals that are around right now? There are many ways that the earth could drasticly change which wouldnt cause life to die out. Life would have to change with conditions on the planet as it has done many times in the past. If we had a lot more CO2 in our atmosphere, animals would struggle but plants would thrive. There would be a larger biodiversity of plants and they would thrive in areas where they currently do not. Wouldnt that be just as cool?
