I'm against immigration in general. And Pope Francis does advocate for it, but he does it from a place of love for his fellow man. He believes people would live better lives in America thus why he would love if these people could go there. Naive yes, as he doesn't really see the ramifications that would result from this. The Church has had bad popes in the past. There was even one who was posthumously anathemized for heresy. Similarly, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah had bad kings in their history. Bad leaders are temporary; they die and are made to face judgement for their crimes. The Church will survive and recover, because God has promised that the gates of hell would never prevail against His Church, and He will not allow Himself to made a liar. I'm not at all blind to the evils which exist within my Church, but I have faith in the God who established my Church, and am therefore confident that justice will come. I don't think Pope Francis donating to house and feed migrants is a bad thing.
We need to recognize that a lot of these people are simply in need, and still have a basic human dignity. I'd prefer that we find more meaningful solutions (like improving their country of origin, or improving our border security to know who's coming in), but we need to help when we can and offer aid to those less fortunate.
