"He is the image [Greek: ikon] of the invisible God." -Colossians 1:15
Stop talking like a some rabbi who repeats only the Commandment against images, and act like an actual Christian already. The New Covenant just said above that God does have a visible image: Jesus Christ.
Does this count?
Second from the right does, the rest doesn't.
ugly as sin, quite blasphemous
protestants need to get a grip
It also doesn't say he is a motionless idol.
Imagine being an iconoclast
It’d help me to stop sinning less if I knew why good sir.
go away Calvin.
A few of my favourites :)
Those are catholic, buddy. Don't pin that filth on us.
"A Monk at Prayer" (I believe it's called) and that Belshezzar one are two of my favourites.
Ok that's all from me for now.
lol, Satan looks like an anime character in pic #4.
Nice bait, made me reply
for the record, the abstract of Mary is not that abstract
At least post it in color.
i enjoy paintings like this that just create a sense of massive scale
that second picture is a cringey multiculti meme, literally kangz in the right side
this is true christian art
I think picture no. 2 is about how all nations shall now and convert to Him; you see ancient tribes, Roman centurion, the post-independence Americans… is not about multiculti, is about how all people can and will find Him and see Him as the Christ.
That is also how I saw it.
I wonder, what is the significance of the fact that they are all warriors? Is it an anti-war message? Or are they 'soldiers of Christ'? Does anyone know the source of the image?
DOTR
Emetically kitsch.
El Greco is the best Christian artist
Mah tigga. He really is. His contemporaries in Spain did appreciate his art a lot, but it latter fell out of grace, when people thought his figures were contorted and exaggerated. It was only with the vanguards and modern art that he started to be appreciated again. The man had the prefect mixture of Orthodox and Catholic influences and a great talent. He managed to paint the feelings and emotions that modern artist so desperately try to capture, and did so without renouncing to forms, without going abstract. Hands down one of the greatest painters of all time.
Could be the second one, Christian life is a form of warfare
Thank you for all the shares! I really have enjoyed many of them. Keep em coming! Sorry I don't have anything to contribute yet. I'll try and take a look at my computer and see if I have any.
