I interpret those verses to mean that Jesus is going to come back, and he's going to come to the baptised and give them a final chance to repent.

Jesus will supposedly return during the lifes of those living at the time of his death. This means that we won't be dead when Jesus comes - unless we die beforehand. As living people, I propose that we would play by the rules of the living.

It seems to be most merciful if Jesus grants everyone one last final chance - the test is to see if you can repent and follow Jesus, or refuse to follow him and are thus a reprobate.

And if a homosexual confessed and repented to Jesus, why wouldn't this be equivalent to the homosexual confessing and repenting to a priest?

If Jesus doesn't return before my death, I'll repent before I die - I've seen relatives die. It happens over months. You'd know many months in advance that you were dying, and could repent during that time.
