Not a soul who willingly falls into unchastity is virginal.

and you base this on…?

Yes you are. For a ton of reasons.

such as?

If you have not had sex then yes, yes you are a virgin. Just like you said though, that doesn't mean you're highly chaste. You seem to have this idea that because of your masturbation, that because you're not highly chaste, that you're not chaste at all and this is wrong. It does make a difference that you've retained your virginity. It absolutely matters.

As you said, yes you'd count as a virgin by society's standards. But no, you probably wouldn't by God's standards.

Consider this: masturbation is a worse sexual sin than fornication. The only thing separating fornication from the natural marital act is the lack of marital bonds, so it's the least unnatural - and therefore the least severe - of the sexual sins. I'm obviously not saying that you should trade masturbation for fornication; you should avoid both and strive for perfect chastity. What I am saying is that if fornication erases your virginity, and masturbation is worse than fornication, then masturbation must also erase your virginity.

Sorry, this of course also applies to me and probably most of the posters on this board as well. There's hope in God's mercy though, for He can wipe away our sexual sins and restore our spiritual virginity to us if we can just leave our sins behind and cling to Him.

how is masturbation worse than fornication? my thought was always that as long as i don't drag anyone else into my sin, i.e. scandalize them, then its not as horrible. masturbation is sin against God, but fornication is sin against God and neighbor. also there's the fact that fornication is also unnatural in that when people do it, they aren't doing it with an openness to the gift of children by using birth control or other methods, making fornication basically masturbatory. its like do you masturbate with your hand, or do you go use a girl (made in the image of God) as a human fleshlight? which one really seems worse?

Masturbation is worse because it's a sin against nature, as St. Thomas Aquinas teaches us (newadvent.org/summa/3154.htm#article12) . Also, 99% of people who masturbate do so whilst consuming pornographic material, which is also a sin against your neighbor (the models) and gives money to corrupt pornographers.

Of course fornication can be compounded with the sins of contraception and apathy, but for the sake of argument let's assume that we were talking about a theoretical case of fornication wherein the following conditions are met: no contraception is used, both parties do feel genuine love for one another, and both parties are open to the possibility of procreation. Obviously this isn't very common among fornicators, but for the sake of argument let's talk about a sexual act wherein fornication is the only sin involved. Yes, both parties do share in each other's sin, but there's also a real unitive and procreative aspect from which real good does emerge, though it was brought from sin. The relationship between the two parties, though a sinful one, can cause them to grow in love for one another until finally they offer up their relationship to God on the marriage altar and God turns it into a holy matrimony which is fruitful and good. Again, not exhorting you to go out and fornicate. I'm just describing the bare minimum of sexual sin that you have to descend to in order to have lost your virginity in sin.

Masturbation brings forth nothing, except for spilled seed. It's an inherently dead act, from which only sin emerges. No marriages were ever brought forth from masturbation, nor naturally conceived children. In the act of masturbation, you pollute your own body, which is a temple for the Lord, and therefore sin against both God and yourself, with not even the remotest potential for good fruit being brought forth. And what happens when you compound it with the sin of pornography? Now, everyone behind the making of that piece or pornography, perhaps a crew of a hundred people or more, partakes in your sexual sin, and you in theirs, which makes the level of scandalization far greater than that found in most acts of normal fornication.

Thinking about it like this, does masturbation still seem like the lesser evil?

so then masturbation is worse than enslaving a woman and making her your sex slave who you rape every night?

yeah, i would agree that if its two normies who are lets say engaged and end up sexing without contraception a few weeks before their wedding or something along those lines, then yeah its less bad than masturbation, but like you said, thats the exception.

If we are to go by society's definition of the word, you are a virgin, however the only reason (((society))) labels you as such is because it's a laughable shaming tactic ("user must put benis in hole or he not cool like us :DD") used to pressure men and women into corrupting one another, leading to broken families, unwanted kids, nihilism, and an otherwise unChristian society. That's mot to say (((society))) doesn't want you to masturbate as well… They just pressure you in a different manner (training you how to ejaculate from 5th grade onwards, erotic ads, free porn, etc.). As for whether you or I are virgins in God's eyes, I'm not sure. We can nevertheless repent of these sins and at the very least be chaste.

Avoiding marriage or sex for lust is also a sin against nature.

99% of people who masturbate but choose to not to fornicate are much, MUCH less promiscuous than those who fornicate and don't masturbate.

i just feel like i got winnie the poohed over, being given so much porn at such a young age, not being taught that masturbation is bad by anyone who was responsible for me. but i always felt that premarital sex was wrong and that i would never do it, or at least never have sex with a girl who i didn't plan on marrying because this was before i was catholic. i'd just like to think that maybe i at least did something right by not going around having a bunch of sex like everyone else.

It may be the exception, but if it's enough for you to have lost your virginity to, then so is masturbation. That's the original point I was making.

You were poohed over. It is the responsibility of parents and other authority figures to keep children away from sin. But the authority figures in your life were poohed over themselves, having grown up in a post-sexual-revolution world the same as you did. The important thing now, however, is not figuring out who to blame. The important thing is that now you're aware of your sins, and you can choose to let God take them away.
You did do something right in choosing not to fornicate. Every choice to avoid sin is a good choice. It's just that you also did something wrong in choosing to masturbate. The vast majority of us are right there with you. You already made one good choice in choosing not to fornicate; now all you have to do is make another good choice in choosing not to masturbate.

Avoiding marriage isn't in and of itself a sin at all, Jesus Christ and Saint Paul both encouraged it in the Scriptures.
Sex for lust is a sin, but it's not nearly as unnatural as masturbation. Lust directed at a woman and lust directed at a computer screen are both twisted forms of the natural procreative urge, but it's very obvious that lust directed at a woman is far less twisted than lust directed at a computer screen.
The horrific depths of masturbation can be observed on other boards right here on Zig Forums. Porn addiction is a gateway to all kinds of completely abominable fetishes, ranging from pederasty to homosexuality to even murder. The fictional nature of pornography, which most masturbaters use, enables masturbaters to indulge in fantasies so evil and unacceptable that most fornicators can't have them in real life. I don't know if that necessarily counts as "promiscuous", but it certainly seems more sinful to me.

No. We live in a world ruined by the fall. Our inclination to sin was only furthered by the sexual revolution. Masturbation perverts the natural order of nature, it's worse than fornication. If fornicators aren't virgins, then those who abuse themselves certainly are not virgins.

I kek'd

A person can fornicate without raping nor making someone a slave, the three are different sins and should not be englobed when talking universally.

Yes.

I've walked hundreds of kilometers over the years of my life. Can I claim I've run a marathon?
