Excellent, thank you.
Big Clive is a fucking G. I wish I could have a lint with him and Ashens irl.
"my friend just has access to an electron microscrope which he can use at anytime to zoom in on random shit"
must be a nice job
I meant to type pint, not lint
is the last side the copper punching through the insulation shorting the cell?
this is what i envision the last pic in the vid.
Oh hey, I already had this video open and buffered in mpv.
I've got 32 mpv windows opened which have my current youtube backlog in them
That does sound right
Can someone explain to a numbskull like me what he was attempting to explain in the beginning of the video about how certain cells reach zero volts?
Let's say certain cells reach zero before others, why won't they then charge again with current going through them and what is reverse charge?
Wikipedia:
By zero he doesn't mean that it is just so low that it reads zero volts, but that the cell is actually broken. A broken cell won't be able to charge.
I understand completely now, so it becomes reverse charged due to the battery arrangement. So it's not wise to let batteries like that discharge completely.
That would go against the point he made how certain cells become reverse charged, wouldn't it? Or is that after the fact?
Voltage is analogous to "pressure". If all of the cells have the same pressure in the same direction, current will flow in one direction. If one of the batteries, for whatever reason, has significantly less pressure than the others, some of the current will flow back into it in the wrong direction, and this damages it. Having low voltage doesn't mean the battery is broken, but it does mean the battery is now actively being damaged and will be totally broken in the future.
this is why cryptocurrency mining botnets on commodity android phones are a health hazard
your explosive tracking device might just damage your genitals
I was kinda bored trying to figure out his accent until he starts up showing the pictures. Thx, it turned out to be a great video.
This should be mandatory viewing for vapists.
For anyone playing with these at home:
Lithium cells should be kept above 2.5V to 3.0V depending on variety to avoid long term damage (typically just reduced capacity).
Li-ion protection circuits, found on ebay for a few dollars, will prevent dumb loads from dropping below that threshold. These are just specialist comparitor ICs switching a power MOSFET but you can alternatively use an ADC if you are powering a microcontroller. Most of these are labeled as "BMS" but they do no balancing.
Does anyone have an actual cite for whether a 2.5V discharge is healthy long-term? Because this is what the ICs on those chinese boards typically cut off at.

Your lucky I don't have my anime backlog open too. Luckily for that I have a directory with symlinks to everything I need to watch.
Where would we be if there were no bloated ego software engineers, I wonder
Seeing as there's people who still buy into the memory effect meme and they're a shitton, if you know how a lithium cell really works you know chemical accumulators better than 99.99% of the earth's population

This, batteries are NOT electrical engineering they are chemical engineering and materials science. Electrical engineering gives no fucks about the internals of the battery, only about the input and output characteristics and how they play in the circuit network.
I have a pair of unprotected Panasonic 18650 cell that were involved in a chink power bank short circuit. The springs were red hot and the PCB smoked. The short circuit lasted around a second.
How safe is it to try to charge those cells or stick them in a flash light?
If the pressure relief valve that's under the positive electrode swelled up even a little throw them out.
2.5V is not a long term storage voltage, that would be around 3.7V. 2.5V is an absolute lowest discharge voltage, going lower would mean that you start damaging the cell. Have a look at BatteryMooch's youtube channel, he knows his batteries.
Just throw them in the recycle bin and buy some new ones, they're dirt cheap man.
$5 each ain't cheap.
Who the fuck in their right mind would use a cellphone to mine cryptos?
nahh man that sheep i went to bst buy yestrday n sheet an got two packs of 10 magic energy machines for 50 bucks dawg. sheet you need mo money hey can i have 50 bucks nigga? gotta pay my rent dawg
Malware developers
Ideally, if a device shorts you'd want it to happen with the minimum amount of charge possible. A mining botnet might actually save your life by emptying the battery before it fails.
maybe it's worth it when you have tens of thousands or millions of bots? of course there's some threshold that a single worker has to be able to reach to even do a unit of work
big clive is a fucking fraud, hes an actor like most youtubers
Watch him solder and you can tell he hasnt been around electronics very long.
He probably rehearse for a week before making a program.
He has done tours of his work and has expressed knowledge well beyond someone who's only practised for a week.
Don't you think a channel like his is too much effort to fake?
Yea he put a lot of effort in his productions
to hide the fact he is a fraud
This is extremely common, pay attention to a lot of the workshops in youtube the tools show no sign of use and wear, very odd for someone claiming to had carpentry as a hobby for 20 years .. ? its all prop recently bought to harvest youtube shekels.
Wow, tool wear. Years of knowledge and experience can be invalidated tool wear. You are such a genius.
yes exactly that
if you see a pegboard with full of new never used tools
the guy isnt using them -is that simple.
But of course. If the tools are not use, the guy is guaranteed to be a fraud. Now that's true wisdom.
pretty much
If you claim been doing something for decades you will automatically end up with a bunch of odds and ends and worn tools.
big clive fuck up his larp when he grabs a soldering iron making it very apparent for anyone that actually used one for a while he hasn't.
You must have missed all the videos he shot outside his house
How would this scheme you're proposing would even work? Just how fast you think someone could get back something between a couple to a dozen grand just plonked down on tooling and equipment through ad revenue?
Or maybe he's just got a new one?
LARP:ers is a personality type
I knew a faggot when he bought a house he also bought a entire workshop worth of tools, expensive tools like festool, to my knowledge he never used it for anything.
Not even for Youtube videos? If yes, then what the fuck are you mentioning him for? If no, then great sample of size one.
id say about 50% of youtubers are LARPers
like that squeaky voice electronic guy i think he is from australia
he has like rack with 20 multimeters behind him to accentuate his virtue in electronics
Has "larp" become a synonym for both "troll" and "shitpost" recently? Because it sure seems to. It's frequency of occurence (there's barely any thread where it isn't uttered at least a few times) around here has been rivaling such mainstays as "autist", "botnet" and "cuck". So what's the deal?
inb4 according to responders I'm "larping" right now too
I don't think you're pretending to be retarded, user~~
the effort is in the shekel potential
This how a code monkey software engineer things:
"Give me inputs and outputs and I will hack it together in janky code"
Get fucked idiot
Input/ouput characteristics is literally the foundation upon which all circuit analysis is built.
For real, people are always calling each other larpers online which doesn't make any fucking sense. I guess a guy making videos on camera pretending to be someone else could be called a larper though.
I think it's the new word autists around here adopted for poser.
