Analog video is modulated at RF frequencies, so it's not a stretch at all. The hard part is getting a quality signal.

You're asking for a sixfold decrease in bandwidth, might as well just send encoded video straight to the monitor then. And this is assuming you aren't making it more expensive with display stream compression.

USB2.0 to VGA exists. look up displaylink. It uses compression between the adaptor and a kernel module. They also reduce refreshrate, and there is no hardware accelleration to speak of. It's fine for text editing and web browsing but don't try to watch HD video on it. SD video is fine if you don't actually care about framerate (like if it's just a video of some prick talking to the camera). I used one on my x220 to get a third screen while docked but gave up on it due to instability when hotplugging (the driver never lets go of an interface, so every time it's reconnected it would just create a new one. After it regiserted more than 3 or 4 interfaces the chances of a a total crash/freeze got incresingly more likely). Also the compression takes a tole on your cpu, the more you have going on on the screen the more system load it creates. When i first got it working i tested it by starting glxgears on a native screen and then drug it over to the displaylink screen. The program didn't report a frame rate drop but the monitor couldn't have been displaying at more than 20hz with heavy tearing, and system load spiked to 8.0ish.

Unfamiliar with the tech. Can this reach AM-FM bands? Have pirate radio transmission points become much more affordable?

Also something just occured to me, if it is possible to use every VGA device as a analogue modem, doesn't that mean every single device with a VGA port is a fucking botnet? As you could just use another VGA adapter with high enough power output directed at the frequency the VGA device is communcating at and simply send data/botnet through said receiver? Like for example if you are running windows sending the data for a function call in the memory range of the VGA device to say open a internet port or some shit like that. Literally a fucking botnet.

And if you can send data from VGA, couldn't you make a virus that hops air gaps using VGA and spread via the internet? It would be easy to make a function call that is consistent across windows/mac for such a thing. Maybe not so much linux or *BSD's though. Granted if it spread from VGA, not every VGA device is going to have a high enough power output to hop air gaps. Nor is every VGA device going to have the same memory adress to communicate with it like a radio. So it would take some work to botnet it like that. I think linux has a header file dedicated to memory/PCI adressess of VGA devices though. So that would save some work.

And if you can botnet the VGA adapter recieving waves on RF, what else can you botnet? Is there a way to avoid botnets via the VGA device made into a modem? I realise if your software is bug free HAHAHAHAHAHA that you don't have to worry about this. So linux and *BSD's might have a harder time becoming botnet until a bug is found in the DRM subsystem for linux and the equivalent for BSD. Windows and mac are screwed as usual, especially windows computers which are air gapped as they would easily fall to such a thing. How do you stop this madness?

So HDMI supports DVI and HDMI is based off of the CEA-861 standard.

So theoretically a HDMI outputting device should support these frequencies, and by extension could be used to transmit radio waves also. Granted it would be very ineffeicient without a antenna of some sort. But that is what a HDMI cable could be used for if the shielding/plastic were removed from the cable. Someone correct me here but wouldn't this mean that almost all video cards could be used a a wireless modem which is botnet with enough power?

That's not a real answer. Some of us are forced to use shitty hardware for work. How do you mitigate this VGA crap if your work is supposed to be secure and you are forced by your employers to use VGA? Sure you could tell your employer its not secure and don't expect it to be secure, you could also get fired.

Oh to top that off, how exactly am I supposed to hook up a modern computer to a teletype after I have removed the VGA card(s) and set it up to use ed as input via teletype in the kernel? How is one even supposed to do this on windows? What about GUI programs? etc etc

Actually that would be more reasonable to obtain or make then a teletype. But that doesn't solve the VGA/DVI and possible HDMI botnet problem. How to get display devices that can display 3d video's and not lag like hell and not be botnet?

Good. VGA should be banned too. Only HDCP compliant connections such as HDMI and DP should be legal. VGA is only useful for CRT anyway which will soon be outlawed for excessive radiation, harmful substances, eye strain, high carbon footprint (Japan saved 3 nuclear power plants of energy per year after phasing out CRT), etc. Seriously allowing citizens to transmit non-compliant radio is quite a problem. Only as a transmitter. It can't receive signals, and it will need an amplifier plus a good antenna to transmit at usable power levels.

If the pipe can send signals, in the fourth VGA pin reserved since E-DDC, it could recieve them also over a serial connection. But yea it would need a antenna and possibly an amp depending on the graphics card in use.

They could also turn off other pins to use them for serial data transmission. Or instead of turning them off putting enough power into the radio wave entering the wire to overpower it and force it back into the computer where you can then transmit data over your noise/energy excess you pumped into the pin.

Nothing new. The wire does not contain any ferrite cores so it's bound to broadcast and leak analog signals for free assuming the other side have some sort of "specialist equipment".
I'm guessing they had put some kind of wifi-like hardware to ensure the transmission of botnet though you don't need it thanks to the insecure little thing called wires.

That's not a hard part considering most VGA DVI HDMI cables no longer contain ferrite cores due to Obama's FCC Law while those who still have that dangling "magnet" thingy actually don't have anything inside!
USB doesn't evade this problem. It's just the same concept and as to why USB3 doesn't run at maximum speed when near interferrence (wlan cards, usb wifi, phones modems and routers).
I'd humbly suggest you people to cut off the wires of those keyboards and mouse of yours then replace it with cables with built-in ferrite cores or buy the clippable ones if that's too much of a job. By using such, you'll get better data and power transmission (which is why micro-B usb for camera and the old PSP used to have these)

Fiber optic cable isn't susceptible to radio interference. Every other type of cable is.

They can be pretty important. A nice thicc well-shielded VGA cable with ferrite rings vs shitty thin poorly shielded one without the rings can make a world of difference. A VGA signal that isn't deteriorated by interference between the graphics card output and screen input isn't much worse from digital.
