Because I'm not a fucking nerd I just use my phone like a regular person.

I pity you, to be quite honest.

9/10, believable bait.

Beacuse I don't wear watches at all. Also they're butt ugly.
>>>/g/

Because I wear an actual watch that can give early warnings of failure rather than an electronic piece of shit that just dies suddenly?

Phones support NTP. Watches don't
also, buy the Librem 5!

Which is?
There are analog, digital and hybrid G-Shocks :^)

A mechanical watch

If it has a quartz oscillator inside it's electronic, no matter the interface

Oh, so you mean of those watches powered by wrist-movement?
I'm sure they are great, but I bet those are neither shock-resistant nor G-proof or water-proof. Also, I'm fairly sure those stop working if kept still for a couple days, don't they?
There is a reason if military forces all over the world (US {Army, Navy Seals, Navy, Air Force}, Aussie Army and Belgian Army, for instance) are equipped with g-shock, rather than schway garbage.

There is a chair thread ( ), so I don't see why a watch thread wouldn't fit... although I would be fine if vols removed both.

>(((you)))
And exactly why did you do this? Are you trying to water down the significance of echoes schlomo?

Back when I wore watches, that's exactly what I had. Kind of a large watch, but very masculine, durable, and highly water resistant. Best sports watch < 100 USD by far.

There are automatic and manual analogs. Both can be water proof, manual is more resistant against shock.
Yes, which for automatics also mean you're dead.

How can a single man be so ignorant of so many subjects yet so confident in his limited knowledge? Are you real or is this post the doing of the dumbest ai in existence?

Because I knew you were a consumerist good goyim. Just like

Not safe. Telephone companies can use your SIM for remote code execution.
There is a reason if FSF doesn't list any smartphone, not even the ones supported by Replicant.
See:

because I have an automatic seiko that looks better

Gee you don't say? Did Molyneux himself instruct you, that you're able to recognize non-arguments so easily?

Because (((you))) posted an image with the make but not the model of the watch in question.

because i'm not a wage slave and can tell the time good enough without a clock, and watches in 2018 are most likely botnet

fuck off millenial

...

Attached: watch.jpg (816x612, 51.71K)

i don't see anything here about libre hardware. what's the point of all this if there's botnet in the 2g/3g/4g networking adapters

Attached: notlibre.png (695x678, 69.64K)

nevermind i guess botnet is acceptable as long as it's on the other end of usb because stallmann says so

>not getting a solar casio (that recharges from monitor back-lights when you watch cuckold porn)

Aww. A true man right here.

What does that even mean?
If it doesn't have a physical switch to disable the GSM module, then I'm calling it botnet.

I actually got a gshock from my brother who lives in Taiwan. He owns a small chain, so he has some money, but not enough money for our family to afford not pulling the plug on our other brother, despite our best efforts.

It's very weird shopping at thrift stores out of necessity while wearing such an expensive watch.

All Android smartphones are literally already Linux Smartphones.

if the botnet is on the other end of a usb2.0 bus with no DMA access then all the botnet in the world is considered acceptable because the usb2.0 hardware is libre (if).

They're Linux smartphones, when by Linux you mean the kernel. They're not Linux smartphones when by Linux you mean the GNU/Linux operating system that includes a lot more than just that kernel.
Unfortunately, the meaning of "Linux" is ambiguous. But you'd have to be wilfully ignorant to not understand which meaning is used here.

i don't think the idea is much different then if you had computer A pulling internet access with full botnet hardware, and then pumping it to computer B with fully libre hardware. Computer B getting internet access in this way is considered perfectly acceptable.

mean to say computer A sends internet over libre ethernet device to computer B.

actually libre ethernet isn't required on botnet computer A only libre computer B

This is a totally crazy thing to say, but I think the post you're replying to was facetious.

You sir, you're retarded.

Irrelevant.

Imbecile.

The best one is the one I have.
Only downside is that the face is plastic instead of something more durable.

Purism is a scam from the start stop feeding it.

So there are trackers on it that are existing but not by default.

I think it would be better to have someone define "trackers". They could very well be referring to some analytics thing or maybe a prerequisite for disclosing location on software.

Casio would be the best watchmaker if they could just figure this magical stuff out

There are models with vibration, for instance the GD-350.

wrist watch squeezes tight
the noose wrapped around my neck
i jump to be free

Are you subtly asking for spoonfeeding?
It's a GD-120.

What model?
The one in the op pic has every functionality you listed, with the difference that the timezones are 4 instead of 2, the battery is estimated to last 7 instead of 10 years and lacks the lazy-ass alarm feature.

It's still 100 times more preferable to full on botnet. At least the OS isn't a botnet itself. Just because the perfect solution doesn't exist yet doesn't mean you shouldn't strive for it.

If it's not RYF-compliant it's not worth 600 bucks.
For a lot less (as low as 20$) I could get a pre-owned i9100 and flash Replicant on it.

The reason is they are young and can't-into-horological-wisdom to choose better. Also, military purchasing decisions constraints: cheap*, replaceable, best value for tax dollar, etc.

Morning squiddy, plz don't name fag. ;^)

I like this model, its not G-SHOCK™ but it costs significantly less and lasts significantly longer. is waterproof, has EL backlight, alarm, and stopwatch. If you need any more functionality you are in the military or severely autistic.

Precisely, a career choice where an accurate timepeice is a necessity

This is the only correct answer, and this was even the /g/ watch. This issue was settled years ago. I just pulled mine out of a box for the first time in over 3 years and its clock was 2 minutes off.

have fun looking like a retard wearing a big-ass bomb on your wrist

the absolute state of millenials

only if you're a fag

Every time this image is posted casio sells 10 watches

Why would I do that when I have an iPhone?

I have this and another one, they were the only two models that Casio carried at the time I bought them. They are basically both the same watch except that the GD-350 allows you to reset a custom timer with two presses of a single button while the alarm is triggered. And it will also display both the time and the time remaining on the timer, as opposed to one or the other via a mode switch.

It's a nice watch, but the vibration is so weak that if I'm doing something with a lot of movement I won't notice it. I'd love to get one that might dislocate my wrist.

Wrist watches are for manchildren

I tried the meme pocket watches and the meme mechanical watches that you have to wind up, but they're shit. They're all complete fucking shit. The only thing I care about is that my watch is CORRECT, and all of those mechanical piles of over-engineered scrap lose multiple seconds of accuracy per day. So I use this now. Atomic radio sync, solar powered, water resistant, etc, etc. It will never be wrong and I don't have to fucking baby it. This is a solid piece of technology that does what it does well and does it automatically.

Because you're some king of army operator or feel like you hax life and stuff? Mine serves another purpose.

Offloading your excess money obviously

Until it doesn't

What's the name model?
Does it work well? I read you have to put it close to a window at night to actually receive any signal.

I'm sure it's great, but how is the battery life?

Mine last synced at 1:04am on May 11th. The sync tends to only work at night time, but I have never put it by a window. It just sits on my kitchen counter with all my other pocket shit at night. Even if it goes a couple of days without syncing, it's a modern electronic quartz movement so it's not going to lose entire seconds during that period like meme mechanical watches.

It actually may. From what I've seen, many have an estimated error of 15 seconds per month.

My watch isn't quite that bulky, but yes I wear a real watch with an alarm, timer, and chronometer.

My towelhead terrorist & autistic survivalist watches

I think thats dependent on how far away from the radio stations you are, there is only a handful.

2030: Declassified documents show Casio watches had a system that could act as a GPS to locate the wearer. This image is brought up at that time.

I'm pretty far from it actually. The transmitter is in Fort Collins, Colorado and I'm all the way on the East Coast.

dat great 70s look - too bad the lcd is the modern type

My one hope for phone freedom is that the Librem 5 INSISTS ON RYF CERTIFICATION. Seriously, it's like technology has for the last 50+ years gone from being free and libre in the true sense of sharing, to being closed behind NDAs, DRM, and nefarious corporate control all at the expense of the users' safety and privacy. But now it seems we are slowly working toward freeing ourselves from this chokehold once again.

Look at projects like EOMA68, TALOS II, Libreboot(despite its founder's shenanigans), GNU, and the FSF as a whole. We are making progress toward more freedom and privacy in our computing, and I can't wait to see more.

goddam I wish you hadn't posted that. A great way to drop $800. Also ended up looking at the Pro Trek. Having a full detail map on the screen would be fantastic, but the battery life sucks

gr8 b8 m8

Bullshit.
youtube.com/watch?v=mcWC6SFidzg

Didn't allwinner cpus release their code blobs? Can we make a linux/bsd android smartwatch with root and no botnet bullcrap or someone already did it?

...

Also, only buy casio with tough solar, it's cheap for non g-shock models, you'll get the battery indicator and know when to change battery before it's too late.

My friend with swiss mechanical meme watch like seven friday still use their phone for time keeping.

Wrong.

I'm using the dv-285
