CeBIT and other computer expositions

Has anyone ever been to CeBIT or any other expos? I'm thinking of going next year but I have no idea what to expect.

This is Zig Forums user, where technology goes to die. Half the people here have never even left their house in over a year

Isn't CeBIT a consumer trade show? There really isn't much point in going there unless you are a journalist, you'll just end up paying to see stuff you'll have to buy half a year later. If it was an industry event where you get to see what new innovations there are for further use then it might be interesting.

...

What are you even doing on Zig Forums?

Everyone on Zig Forums is a luddite, this place has become anti-technology because everything is a botnet to these retards

Uh, maybe because almost everything IS botnet?

I have a feeling that it would be like going to an anime convention. Everyone there will be turbonormalfags and you won't be able to talk to anyone about your hobby because they don't know anything about. If you do find someone, they'll only be able to proxy whatever some eceleb said about some topic.

INFJ spotted. just keep yourself busy with your pet habit and don't go full Hitler/Osama someday

Tried to ask this in another thread but is defcon still worth going to? Already booked a hotel for this year's but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it.

depends on why you are going

Do you think our lord and savior Stallman would go out nearly as much as he does if he didn't have to?

if you understand what's being said, it's part of your job anyways, so yes, if not, no

You are 100% wrong.

well gee wiz it's almost as if people who used to be interested in technology are unhappy with the downward spiral and just want things to go back to the way they used to be

That's fine if you feel that way but please keep the whinging out of Zig Forums which is the place to discuss technology. Politics is not a matter of technology.

who said anything about politics? even if you ignore the human element entirely, computers have still degenerated.

Yes... under certain circumstances
If you treat it like your normal "go in an experience" con you will find a gorillion somewhat connected activities and presentations like at any random dry con with maybe better sitting opportunities so you should go to their Forum and check out the extra activities like going to a range, doing BBQ and so on to get to know some people.
In fact, if you see someone doing something interesting just go up to them and hit them up, chances are they will be happy to dump their info on someone interested, just throw yourself out there because you never know who might know who and into what rooms or groups that can get you.
Also plan out what talks if any you want to hear because you won't be able to see them all.
tl;dr: you need to put in some work to get the most out of it.
