Space Thread

Let's have a bread to discuss space tech.
Will the SABRE bring man closer to constructing permanently inhabited Space Colonies?

Anyone heard about that hypothetical EM drive that was supposed to work?

snake oil pseudoscience held together by long strings of uncertainty

t. top nasa scientist

What I really want to ask is where did the "Space Elevator" guy on halfchan go? I used to love his threads, then they just stopped all of a sudden.

Yeah, it's bullshit.

The SABRE is way more efficent than any shitty backwards musk rocket. That being said, just putting both a scramjet and separate rocket onto the same vehicle would add negligible weight and work just the same.

An hero.

>The US won't let the Chinese participate in the international space station
Just sad. Space exploration should be above mere earthling quibbles.

Back to Twitter, you fucking dog eater.

You don't belong here, kike.

Go away you broken shell of a golem.

except it wouldn't. it would require shutting down half your engines and relighting the other half mid-flight. That's a *really* significant change, something i don't think anyone's done with a rocket. There were the NASA tests to use the SR-71 as a flying wind tunnel for rockets, but it worked, but was way too expensive. They never flew the sr-71 on the rocket engine alone, though. This change would also make the craft a lot heavier, not a little; engines of significant thrust are heavy.

yeah... not happening.

Space colonies should only be established after we have communism. Capitalism is incompatible with space-faring civilization.

Neither do you, mi amigo.

It's still bs though. Not sure if you are joking or that is you.

...

Of course it will work, all space stations will operate under a dictatorship known as a ship captain. The parameters of what's possible on earth is severely restricted when you have to maintain the lives of people within a self-sustaining bucket of metal. There won't be any room for entrepreneurs to add value inside a space station if that space station does not have matter generating technology.

...

those were the shit.

Fuck off.

Space travel/living is *the* most masturbatory idea *ever* - if you'd volunteer to spend your life in a tin can dying of boredom, then sure, be my guest. But, leave me out of it.

you've never thought about going on "Fhloston Paradise" cruise over Titan?

I think it would be quite the experience to spend a night or two on the moon, looking down at Earth and how small and trivial everything is from a perspective you can't get here.

I fully support conquering this quadrant of the galaxy.

s/communism/fascism/

I agree, I'm against space colonization too.

Oh yea point to one large scale Aerospike project that didnt fail or get canceled.

God, The fucking faggots in this thread
