C programmer here. There are no usable alternatives. You can complain all you want, but solutions would be more useful. The closest anyone came to replacing C was with Ada but it was a warzone, required 10x the manpower, and had its own problems. Supposedly it's not nearly as shit as it used to be but the community around it is completely dead now so I dunno.
