I get that, I guess I'm just looking to see more examples of it being used to the detriment of a project. And the Opal one seems to be the primary example of it being used to remove a major contributor of a project for wrong think. But I am looking for more. Granted, hearing about stuff like "post-meritocracy" doesn't the case for the type of stuff being pushed forward now.

Do you? Last time I checked you can download Linux for yourself and program your own code for it to your likening because it uses GPL. It's not proprietary.
