As for the CoC, I was mistaken. It only applies to the Matrix room on the matrix.org server and conversations in their Github organization's issues/pull requests, and the matrix.org server's t&c are pretty lax as long as you aren't sharing child pornography or malware.

LOL so much for your ease of use argument. If your gonna have to roll your own server just to have any shred of privacy on the damn thing then you might as well take the 5 minutes it takes to learn pidgin and create an account on creep.im and unlike riot xmpp doesn't require jewgle captcha to work.
