The diagram (last pic, Sorrells et alia) is state of the art neurology. By using a fine-gauge filament, they could find the precise pressure threshhold of sensation at all the different parts of the intact and circumcised penis. The filament, when bent against a penis, pushes with a constant amount of force, so that sensitivity could finally be compared between penises.
Low threshhold means very sensitive. The most sensitive parts of the intact penis are cut away in male genital mutilation (high-density areas of meisner's corpuscles, specialized nerve bundles that give you hands and lips a tickling feeling if lightly brushed on the insides of your hands; these respond more strongly the weaker the touch is, allowing for intense pleasure with minimal stimulation).
