Extract a few eggs from a woman (who wants a child) and fertilize them with her chosen man's (ideally husband) sperm and grow the zygotes in vitro for a bit. (This is already done in "fertility clinics" today) Then genetically screen the embryos and select one or two with the best genetic health. Put them into the woman to (hopefully) carry to term.
Over several generations this technique could greatly improve genetic health with little if any risk.
Eugenics the easy way.
Simply rolling the dice several times and choosing the best outcome.
Would involve none of the dangers of genetic engineering since nothing was being meddled with genetically.

As transhumanism is change of the humans but Lem insists on the preservation of human form.
