I think all these anti-german sentiments comes from many Germanic users essentially going "we wuz" at every opportunity, painting themselves as the European ideal, and some people have gotten essentially fed up. That said, not all Germanic users are like that, but some clearly have said or done some things that hurt the image of their people.
