Rap is just poetry. Rock is just classical music with guitars instead of violins. Stop being a pleb. What makes music shit is people who have no interest in expressing emotion through rhythm, and who are too braindead to have expressive lyrics.
The main issue with pop, rock, hip-hop and all that shit today is that it all has literally the exact same beat. It's just playing the same hypnotic tune over and over and over and over again, which normalises people to it; and when they hear something else it seems wrong. Depending on the person that wrong can be intriguing or repulsive.
