Sagas Of The Icelanders

The sagas of the icelanders brings you back to a time prior to the white man becoming christian. The Sagas, The Eddas, and The History of The Franks by Gregory of Tours help us to understand the pre-christian Germanic mind, and everyone in Western Europe has Germanic blood. The Lombards invaded Italy, Visigoths Spain, Franks France, and the Norse invaded Ireland. And the Rus invaded Russia.

Asatru is the religion that can unite the white man. It hearkens back to pre-christian values. Christianity helped serve us well and make society stable so we can gather wealth, but christianity is no longer serving us because other ethnic groups are not practicing meek christian values and this is putting us at a disadvantage. Meekness can be good sometimes towards kinsfolk but really we can't be meek to enemies.

We can't be christian anymore, its just not working. We need to return to a Germanic religion. All you Celts out there: you have Germanic blood and no one has codified your celtic religion properly so you should just be Germanic. Latin people have Germanic blood too.

Plus The Eddas has some Celtic things in it brought by the Irish women who were bright to Iceland to marry the Norse man. Iceland is 50% Irish. Tyr may be based on Mucius which is Latin.

No more christianity

The Germanic religion is based on striking fear into the heart of the enemi

The only thing about modern Asatru I am against is some have been practicing animal sacrifice. You can do wine offerings to the gods. No need to do animal sacrifices.

All you have to do to get into heaven is be an apologetic pussy.
To get a seat in Valhalla, one must work hard for it in service to one's Folk. Often in violent battle.
Yeah, we definitely need to re-establish some old beliefs again.

The worldview/ethics of pre-christian Europe are a good starting point for religion. Even if one doesn't subscribe to pre-christian religion, I suggest looking at the "nine noble virtues" formulated by an Asatru group in the 1900s, extrapolated from the eddas.

It is important to emphasize that for Zig Forumsacks the focus should always be on one's people, not on deities. Sagas are a good starting point for this because they tell the history of a people rather than stories about deities.

I personally do not believe that Asatru is the correct path forward. PIE derivative religions have largely been reconstructed from documentation that occurred after these religions were no longer practiced. There is some attestation in Latin/Greek documents, the Vedas exist of course, Baltic paganism existed well into the 1200s in Lithuania and is still practised to a degree, and there was later medieval scholarship on Germanic and Slavic religion. However, the focus of religion should always be on truth. This means not just what can be empirically observed, but also how to correctly exist in the world: what is true for existence as an individual and beneficial for a society and a people. This is the core tenant of PIE religions, and should not be ignored in favor of myths about deities.

Rather than try to reconstruct a dead religion it is better to build a new one, looking to PIE texts and attestation for guidance on what thousands of years of society and religion was able to distill as truths about how we should live.

Cool thread, OP. I've spent most of my time studying Hinduism and general esotericism, so I'm not too familiar with Asatru. Are the sagas a good place to start. Is there a particular one I should start with? Once the Christian blight ends, I would like to see a revival in Norse, Greco-Roman, and Vedic paganism; so whether or not I'm captivated enough to become an Asatruar, I want to know enough to support it.

Let it go, user. The energy it would take to save Christianity, and THEN use it successfully against Judaism and Islam are well beyond what it would take to simply crush it with the rest of the tainted mental infections.
Let it go.

I would start with The Eddic poem Grogaldr. Its very short. Its about a man who summons the spirit of his dead mother to curse his enemies. The ancient norse believed that the spirits of the dead can bless and curse people.

Honestly I recommend studying the Song of Roland to get an idea of Germanic values(Frankish), that book the Sagas of The Icelanders is good too. History of The Franks.

Oh the most important thing to read is Havamal, wisdom sayings. But it needs to be retranslated.

So I would start with Havamal. Some stuff written by Christian monks though did capture the Germanic mind. Life of Charlemagne by Notker the Stammerer is good.

Free audio of it, quite short

Too bad Romuva's Vaidila (high priest) is a bit fucked in the head lately, perhaps because of his harpy wife. Dude has a great heart and lots of knowledge, but loves LARPing as great magician, his wife creates energy fields around their house that causes neighbors to get lost in the forest and other stupid shit.
Nontheless, I have re-baptised as a Romuvian back in 2004 and still remember those warming words 'congratulations, you are no longer christians'. Oh, and they do it for free. Pagan wedding tho… 4-5 years back it was around 300€, a bit more expensive than at catholic church.
Sage fot blogpost OT and sorry for poor grammar, alcohol is hell of a brain eraser.

Gotta be careful though, a lot of the Sagas were written centuries after the fact, and with a certain political goal in mind. Snorri Sturluson wanted Iceland to become a part of the Norwegian kingdom and deliberately wrote it so there was a greater similarity between the Icelanders and the Norwegians, for instance.

Everything you are reading was filtered and censored by the christian scribe.
They didn't need books because the tradition was oral
Criticising the men of old for having no books, is similar to criticizing a person who doesn't require reading glasses.
It never occurs to the modern man, that, like he whose eyes are strong enough to see without glass lenses, the men of old had the mental capacity to memorize everything verbatim, so why would they write things down?
Written tales can be corrupted, oral tradition has built-in integrity and error correction, namely if a jew attempted to rewrite your history, it would be instantly corrected by all the other living holders of the text.
The one attempting to corrupt the history would be instantly punished, probably with death.
Writing is a crude abstraction of living speech, and always inferior.

It only seems superior because jewed schooling has deliberately atrophied the capacity of memory and recall.

This. Trying to "save" a religion written exclusively by Jews for the sole purpose of destroying the white race just because of some good elements that it has is retained from the religions that Jews have plagiarized in order to push their rabbi Yehoshua as the only god is counter-productive. It needs to be completely crushed and removed from our racial consciousness.

Yes goy, the rise in merchant influence being directly proportional to the decline in Christianity is pure (((cohencidence)))

Most of today's knowledge about this stuff is misinformation, misdirection and false.
Made by Christian monks who's only aim with their writings was to destroy or misdirect knowledge about re-incarnation a pillar in Norse-myth.

The gods themselves are the same between Greek, Egyptian, Hittites, Germanic, Vedic, and Eddic, and where one doesn't have a particular god, the ancients had no problem adapting or borrowing gods. Its because all the ancients believed they were drawing from a common, divine source in Nature. Every god is distinct and still a facet of the numinous. The anthropomorphism which the ancients clothed their gods in was to make them accessible to everyone, of the culture. The myths they told of the heroes and gods, taught the nation who they were, ie the Langobards origin, and the good and the bad about the gods. The forms of religion brought the village and even nation together in the cultus. So that if a conqueror tore down your alters and put up his own, in your temples or hoffs, and he put up images of himself in your cities, he could still subvert your culture to his image while he was back home enjoying the spoils. That's exactly what christianity did to Rome, right inline with the ancient pharoahs: build an image (an effeminate man being tortured is truly subversive) and demand homage to him and his god on new alters. The folk see their new, faggy-looking king and its no wonder they develop into prostrate homos. In spite of their genetics, they succumb because spiritual powers are at work.

Christianity is doing just fine, all the church flavors are safe and just as kiked in Asia and Africa as the West. In fact, christianity was not subverted, christianity subverted you. Don't make your imaginary need for salvation National Socialism's problem. What's declining isn't christianity by any means, but our racial cohesion.

Do they though? Aren't they written Down by Christians, Thus giving them a Christian spin?

Actualy, SOME monks were genuinly interested in pagan rites and lifestyle, gods, etc and their documentation is +- accurate.
Atleast i've heard this version from a competent researcher on religions, Dainius Razauskas, but there probably is not much info about him in english

Shortly after Olaf Tryggvason became King of Norway he decreed that the old faith should be discarded and replaced with Christianity. His decree extended also to the islands of Shetland, Orkney, and Faroe.

When news of Norway's conversion reached Iceland, it was received by many with great anger. "It is monstrous," they said, "to forsake our ancient beliefs."

But Njal, a respected leader known for his ability to foresee the future, replied, "I support the new faith. I believe that Christianity is a better religion than our old one. Those who accept it will be happy."

King Olaf of Norway made preparations to convert Iceland. To this end he sent Thangbrand, son of Count Willibald of Saxony, on a mission to Iceland. Accompanied by the Icelander Gudleif Arason, a renowned warrior, Thangbrand set sail for Iceland aboard a ship named The Bison. They landed in the eastern fjords at a place called Gautavik. They were met there with hostility. Most Icelanders of that district refused to sell them provisions or to trade with them, but Hall of Sida opened his house to them and offered them hospitality.

One morning – it was an important feast day – Thangbrand sang mass, and Hall asked him, "In whose honor is this ceremony?"

"In honor of the angel Michael," answered Thangbrand.

"Does he have great power?" asked Hall.

"Yes, he has great power," replied Thangbrand, then continued, "The angel Michael will be your friend and guardian if you will promise yourself to him in God's name."

"That I shall do," promised Hall, and a short time afterward he and his entire household were baptized.

The next spring Thangbrand, accompanied by the warrior Gudleif and the new convert Hall, preached Christianity throughout the land.

At Stafafell a farmer named Thorkel challenged Thangbrand to a duel. Thangbrand accepted the challenge and went to battle using a crucifix for a shield. Victory went to Thangbrand, and he killed Thorkel. Then Thangbrand and his companions continued to travel from district to district, converting many prominent families to the new faith.

Frightened at the Christians' success, the heathens at Kerlingardale hired a sorcerer named Hedin to kill their leader Thangbrand. The sorcerer accordingly went to the Arnarstakk Heath where he conducted a great sacrifice. At the time Thangbrand was riding westwards, and the ground suddenly opened up beneath his horse. The horse disappeared into the earth, but Thangbrand miraculously pulled himself to safety.

Thangbrand's companion Gudleif searched out Hedin the sorcerer and killed him with a spear.

Next they preached the new faith at Fljotshlid, where they met great opposition from Vetrlidi the Poet, so they killed him. From there they went to Bergthorsknoll, where Njal and his entire household were baptized.

At Grimsness Thorvald the Ailing had gathered a large band of Icelanders against the missionaries. They attempted to ambush the Christians, but one of their number warned the missionary group. Forewarned, Thangbrand, Gudleif, and their followers rushed the would-be ambushers. Thangbrand threw a spear through Thorvald, then Gudleif cut off his arm, and Thorvald died.

The missionaries then rode on to the Althing. Thorvald's kinsmen had assembled there to avenge the death of their relative, but Njal kept the two warring groups apart.

At the Althing Hjalti Skeggjason, a new convert to Christianity, composed a poem that stated in verse:

I dare mock the gods.
I believe that Freyja is a bitch,
And that Odin in a dog,
Or else the other way around.

Later that summer Thangbrand's ship, The Bison, was wrecked. It is not stated whether Thangbrand himself was aboard at the time, but in any event, he continued his missionary activities. This shipwreck caused some heathens to claim that their god Thor's giant-killing hammer had struck dead the Christian bison, thus proving that Christ was powerless to confront a challenge from Thor.

To this Thangbrand replied, "Thor lives only at the will of the Christian God. Without my God's permission, Thor would be nothing but dust and ashes."

At Hagi a man named Gest Oddleifsson held a feast for Thangbrand and sixty of his followers. Some two hundred heathens had gathered there as well. They expected to be joined by a berserk named Otrygg. It was said that Otrygg feared neither fire nor sword.

Thangbrand declared that he would use the berserk to test the power of Christianity over that of the old religion. "We shall light three fires," he proposed. "I shall bless the first one, you heathens shall bless the second one, and the third one shall remain without a blessing. If the berserk walks through your fire unharmed, but is afraid of my fire, then you must accept Christianity."

Gest, the leader of the heathens, believing that the fearless berserk would walk through all the fires, accepted this challenge.

When Otrygg the berserk was seen approaching the house, the three fires were lit, and two of them were blessed according to plan. Without hesitating, the berserk walked through the fire blessed by the heathens, but he stopped at the Christian-blessed fire. Agonizing with unknown pain, Otrygg raised his sword to strike out at his foes, but as he swung the sword upward, it caught against one of the crossbeams of the house. Thangbrand struck him on the arm with a crucifix, causing Otrygg's sword to fall to the ground, and then ran a sword into the berserk's chest. Gudleif attacked him as well, cutting off Otrygg's arm. Others entered the fray and helped to kill the heathen berserk.

Having thus seen the power of Christianity, many leading households were now baptized.

In the meantime, the chieftains meeting at the Althing outlawed Hjalti Skeggjason for having blasphemed Freyja and Odin by calling them a bitch and a dog in his poem.

Thangbrand's ship had now been repaired, and he returned to Norway. He reported to King Olaf the ill treatment he had received in Iceland, stressing especially the heathen sorcery that had caused the very earth to open up beneath his horse.

Thangbrand's account so angered the king that Olaf had all Icelanders in Norway thrown into dungeons. He threatened to have them all put to death, but was dissuaded from this act when two Icelanders, Gizur the White and Hjalti Skeggjason agreed to return to Iceland and to there renew the missionary effort among their countrymen.

Arriving in Iceland, Gizur and Hjalti were met by many fellow Christians, and in a large band they rode to the Althing. It appeared that a great battle would break out between the opposing sides. But when Thorgeir, a heathen priest, spoke out, everyone listened. "We cannot live in a divided land," he said. "There will never be peace unless we have a single law. I ask you all – heathens and Christians alike – to accept the one law that I am about to proclaim."

All agreed, pledging under oath to abide by his judgement.

He then proclaimed, "Our first principle of law is that all Icelanders shall henceforth be Christian. We shall believe in one God – Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We shall renounce the worship of idols. We shall no longer expose unwanted children. We shall no longer eat horsemeat. Anyone who does these things openly shall be punished with outlawry, but no punishment will follow if they are done in private."

Within a few years these heathen practices were prohibited in private as well as in public.

The heathens felt that Thorgeir, one of their own priests, had betrayed them, but they had pledged to follow his proclamation, and thus Christianity became the religion of all Iceland.

Njal's Saga was written in about 1280 by an unknown Icelandic author. The above account was abstracted from chapters 100-105.

Olaf Tryggvason was born about 964 and died in 1000. He was King of Norway between 995 and 1000.

Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241), medieval Iceland's greatest poet and historian, also recorded Thangbrand's mission to Iceland: Thangbrand the Priest Goes to Iceland.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow composed a ballad describing the mission to Iceland of Thangbrand the Priest.

In medieval Scandinavia berserks reportedly were ferocious fighters, feeling no pain and having no fear. They were valued by royalty and the wealthy as bodyguards and special warriors. From their name (the term berserk comes from an Old Norse word for bear shirt) the original berserks achieved their ferocity by putting on a bearskin shirt, much as werewolves became wolf-like by putting on a magical strap of wolfskin.

Iceland's Althing (General Assembly), a parliament of chieftains and landowners, was established in the year 930.

Outlawry was the ultimate legal punishment in medieval Scandinavia. A person sentenced to outlawry lost all protection under the law and was thus open to attack by robbers and assassins of any sort.

The conversion of Iceland to Christianity was formalized at the Althing in the year 1000.

"

I dare mock the gods.

Interesting that the fall of the old gods happened after the poets insulted them publicly. This is why its not good for white people to accept their race being publicly insulted.

Some people asked if the sources on Norse/Germanic paganism were corrupted due to being written by monks. We really have no idea to what extent but seriously just read what was written, its fascinating. You can decide for yourself how much was corrupted.

So let me get this straight. You're christian. Yet you clearly have a foul mouth and an evil intent to wound with your words. So why the fuck are you even calling your self christian? The way you are acting is anti-christ.

I'm not glorifying behaving in an evil manner, but pagans believe in being both good and evil. Evil to our enemies and good to our friends. But you sir may have that ethic backwards because I am your racial kin, I assume, and you are being evil to me who you should be treating with kindness.

I see all these fucking christians going on about how christian they are, but they seem to be so mean spirited to pagans, even more mean spirited to pagans than to muslims or jews. So I do respect that christianity is part of european heritage. But Europe is christo-pagan in heritage. We are pagan too.

SERIOUSLY stop calling yourself christian if you are going to act like an asshole. Everyone should be an asshole to their enemies.

It's wholly corrupted.
Telemark (In Norway) was un-charted until 1750 (pic related).
Most Christian that entered was slain quickly. because the people in Telemark was the last bastion of Paganism in Europe.

The clergy burned our ancient books that told the history of Assyrians, of Atlantis, of Thule.
Very few books remained.

Then the priests entered the scene.
They wrote new books, while rejecting people the right to read and write.

It's wholly corrupted.
The fairytales in Europe have secret riddles in them.
Because that was the only way we could teach out faith to children.

I'm Norwegian (Not that it makes me any more of an authority on this subject, but I at least know the language of Old and New Norse)
Instead most of the people that are larpagans.
They can only speak English.

Christians love their semitic-religion more than their own folk.
It's sad, but then again. they're not the most intelligent people walking around.

Come back :)

Our baltic history was written by teutons. Yeah well… Lithuania (to be more precise Žemaitija) was last to be raped by christian hords of Teutonic Order and polish deceptive dukes. Barbarians they say, some fucking tought barbarians, if they held so long against well organised armies for centuries.

Tyr is based upon a Proto-Indo-European sky god as proven by linguistics and archaeology.

Odin is based upon another Proto-Indo-European god of wind which fits in with depiction as a traveler.

These claims that Germanic derived gods are based upon Roman or Greek ones has been debunked.

As for the Celts, the Celts derived from the same even more ancient European ethnicities as the Germanic peoples so obviously there will be striking similarities in their folk religions and deities. Same goes for the Slavic and Baltic peoples.

Why do Christians on Zig Forums have such an inferiority complex towards pagans? You guys always come in and so desperately try to convince everyone that Christianity is antisemitic, and argue that the subversive elements within your religion are just because you yourselves were subverted. But I never see you "red-pilled Christians" talking amongst yourselves about how you want to save the White race, or crush the Jews, or restore master-morality. Quite the opposite, actually, whenever Christians group-up, priority number one is establishing that loyalty must be exclusive to church dogma. Didn't Zig Forums ban racism after spending years trying to proselytize on Zig Forums? If you're "red-pilled Christians" then shouldn't you share in our "heathen" mentality, instead of the mentality of the "subverted" Churches? If you guys approached these arguments with the mindset of being a good Aryan man, rather than obsessively attacking paganism, I think most non-Christians would actually respect you.

Thin bait to try to derail the thread into religious D&C. If you want to create a new thread to discuss the contributions of Christians to White Nationalism then make a thread and I will give you a whole list. This is not the place for it.

Entirely possible, and we should certainly be opposed to letting people insult us and our kin in the way that seems to be so common these days. With that said, the saga itself points to the first 'turning point' being that the Berserker was burned by the Christian-blessed fire, and then killed by the Christians when he attempted to attack. There are also numerous other instances of inter-religious warfare with the Christians coming out on top, and also the incident with the ship the Bison being destroyed by 'Thor's hammer' which is remarked upon as proving the pagan god's superiority to Christianity. As such I would say that it was actual the martial aspect of the religion that converted the people. Of note is also the fact that the Archangel Michael is mentioned, who is the leader of the armies of heaven and speculated by some to be Christ himself. I think that the real take away is that the people back then were convinced by strength, and not so much insults, and certainly not anything else.

I also think that is an aspect of Christianity which is today criminally overlooked. The Bible is rife with militaristic imagery, with the image of Christ appearing at the head of an army upon a white horse and purging degenerates, and a host of other scenes. I do not really want to talk too much about that as this thread is dedicated to the Icelandic Sagas, but it is worth pointing out that Christians really should be speaking more about the martial spirit of the faith, especially as that is what seems to have initially attracted so many of our ancestors.

These are good stories, and there's no excuse for not reading them if you're Germanic and Norse. Don't neglect the classics though. The Iliad is the one book every aspiring should read, if he's going to learn from the ancients. Also, if you don't hunt you must. No one can seriously argue that our ancestors ways of believing and seeing are irrecoverable who still hunts. 9/10 of hunting is still patience, which is exactly the barrier between yourself in the industrial society and your ancestors. Its cliche but true, we're too impatient.

I recommend hunting above hiking, but that's because when I'm hiking I'm not observing or taking it all in as carefully. You might be different. Fishing is great, but I can't expect to be alone and quiet, at least where I live. I've never used a bow, but I would like to some day. Anyhow, cosmo, urban trash would denegrate pagans (rednecks) for being primitive, but they're progressive cocksuckers who hate themselves so much they fuck niggers, so I don't care about them.

Their loyalty is to God above their race. It's that simple.

That's what invaders do, they remake the conquered people in their image. Lithuania has seen both faces of the church.

Absolutely this
One criticism of the modern European/Pagan resurgence that I have is that avoiding brother-wars in the future will eventually become a critical issue. If ever we do manage to throw off the jew from our backs, the very first tactic that they will try is tricking European children into fighting one another again. This is the oldest trick in the jewish book. While they work together across national lines, Europeans have always fought with one another. One method our elites have historically used to trick us into slaughtering each other is religious disputes. Perhaps if we all had a common faith, this would alleviate this weakness.

I strongly agree with your idea of creating an extended PIE based religion as this would unite all Europeans under a common faith. Indeed, we must make this religion much more racially focused than the current ideologies so that we never again fall for the lies of multiculturalism

My grandparents came from Norway. My ancestors gave up paganism for Christianity is due to it providing a better answer for their spiritual yearnings. Christianity is not some Jewish voodoo to control people, but the foundation for a hope that transcends the grave. The resurrection of Christ is the historical event that cinches it.

And women are still the biggest problem. Gudrun is beautiful. Gudrun is evil

Christianity killed the spiritual foundation of our race, once it's job was done, it could be discarded so something even more kiked could be implemented. Just like kikes ditched communism in favor of neoliberalism and neocohenism once it did it's purpose and caused enough damage.

today I happened to go to church after decades I had gladly never set foot in it(a relative's wedding), maybe I was hoping it would at least be somehow instructive, the church was fairly nice too

boy was I about to puke at all of the whiny sentimentality radiating from everything the priest said and the music, it just hit me like a brick what sort of leviathanic weight this cancer puts on our shoulders and how much it domesticated something as wild as the ancient aryan man

if Europeans, or whatever is left of it with a drop of testosterone, don't instinctively and immediately start to repudiate every single tiny bitsy fragment of this judaean curse I see precisely 0% chances of avoiding complete cultural and racial destruction, no folk subject to this curse can survive for long

Christianity is dead and anyone telling you otherwise just cant' let go of their book club.

Somewhere meat is treated to be used as food.
Either killing for sport or killing for food.
An extraordinarily rare form of modern death penalty for crimes deemed to heinous to let you back into society.

None of those are sacrifices by any definition nice trips though.

LET US END THIS NOW
Christianity == Athens + Jerusalem
Athens == Euro-pagan
Jerusalem == kike

Everything shitty about Christcuckery comes from the latter, not the former. (eg. slave morality

Discussion over, and if you don't like it >>>Zig Forums and don't fucking come back

This is my ultimate issue. Even when I commit to the mental gymnastics and attend latin mass regularly it's impossible to overcome that pitiful feeling in the air. It always leaves me feeling drained and morose. It's centered around guilt and suffering, how could it be any other way?
While pagan rituals do have a larpy vibe once you get past that it's invigorating, and I have a hunch that the vibe comes mostly from the majority of the group feeling awkward doing something new.

you fundamentally misunderstand symbolic exchange in pre-modern (and post-modern) societies, big boy.

We should blood eagle on some Rothschild pup all the same. Christians can watch.

Anyone know of a good documentary on this/related subject? I read all day, and I don't watch TV, so I need to find something to veg-out to in the evening

Sturlusson was also writing with the aim of Christianizing the pagan traditions, as well as injecting some ancient Greek classical mythological themes and contemporary European Romance/Arthurian traditions which were all the rage among the elites in his day.
The Eddas are not all authentic Norse paganism in other words.

Assuming you mean northern European stuff, watch Michael Wood's "In Search of" series. Its history, not mythology though. I don't know if there's anything out there, and nothing comes to mind for classical myth and religion either. The Great Courses might have lectures, but no documentaries.

Valiant attempt, but nevertheless fruitless.

very cool. I'll check it out

this is a glaring hole in the market. if someone produced this, they'd probably make a pretty penny… though, they wouldn't get LGBTQIApedo points at the independent film festival and in hollyjew

Keep telling yourself that. I actually took the "Athens & Jerusalem" from one of the most accomplished philosophers/politcal theorists of the post-war era, and the central thesis that christcuckery is actually a syncretic combination of Greco-Roman thought and Semitic nonsense is so well established that I'm actually surprised I need to defend it. The fact that many of our "modern" "virtues," such as scientific curiosity, is derived from Greco-Roman thought and strikingly absent from semitic discourse is likewise well established.

keep trying tho

do you know anything more in the vein of Graham Hancock? I know a lot of his stuff is pretty speculative, but i really like the ancient civ stuff and other more sort of /x/-tier, paranormal/esoteric type shit

What do you plan on doing with these devoutly christian white areas?

I’m pretty interested in joining an Asatru group but I get worrried that doing so would result in similar issues Christianity has, namely dogma.
As an example I think the Eddas are a great source of info but a lot of groups seems to put a ton of emphasis on Odin for some reason. Also just in general scholarship on certain things, such as runic inscriptions are absolute garbage. Everything is either a name or Odin, to the point it becomes sort of nonsensical.
Idk maybe I’m just naive but I don’t trust other people and would sort of prefer to follow my own path, but at the same time recognize community is really important. Anybody got any advice on Asatru groups?

There's no basis at all to say Snorri poisoned the well. You're thinking of Saxo Grammaticus who was the church propagandist. Snorri paid homage to the faith as anybody who didn't want to die must, but from the outset his only concerns are the skalds art and preserving Norse myth. That was the whole point of the Edda. They're source books, not a bible of dogmas. He was no choir boy.

You could be more specific about the Greek influence, but I think I can guess who you're talking about. Its far more likely the Germans had their own Heracles cult from the start, which became Thunor/Thor. Heracles Labours are everywhere in Indo-European myth, not just the Mediterranean, and no that isn't because of Alexander the Great. There's no reason to assume the Germans borrowed Heracles/Thunor in particular, when he was beloved as far back as Tacitus. Its not as though Snorri would have had Greek sources to work from himself, even with his education.

As these Aryan peoples met and exchanged after millennia of removal, their myths might change, but with a few exceptions, they didn't borrow to the extent the kikes stole from our Aryan forebears.

No, I don't. I don't know much about Hancock or the /x/ stuff, but Leonard Nimoy also hosted a US show called "In Search of."

Odin is a dangerous, mercurial god. He's strong but magic gods in Aryan myths tend to be distrusted. Thor, Freyr, and Freyja are friendlier to men. Freyja's cult was the last to die out in Europe, being she's the fertility goddess and goddess of the volva. She and her brother are absolutely integral to our ancestors, but Odin is popular today because we are desperate and need power.

should work. then, the proverbial "slow boil" syncretic shift into something different

you should check out hancock's stuff. its actually pretty interesting. obviously, with a skeptical eye since its speculative

seen every one. I had a very significant extended illness and I think I've seen almost every existing documentary previous to ~2011 – certainly the mainstream Nova/PBS/etc stuff

It wasn't easy for them, Muspilli, Merseburg Chants and Totentanz are such poem trying to make sense of it all. Muspilli baring the name of Muspelheim but more often using Roman terminology instead of the Germanic words for its Christian audience. In the case of Muspili the Prophet Elijah is the character used instead of Freyr killing Sutur. Which is something you often see a jewish Prophet takes the place of European Power in the folklore, Grimm greatly explored this.

That an interesting interpretation. I appreciate the perspective.
I continue to seek Tyr’s guidance, I think it’s his courage we need now more than anything.

I know of the connection to Tiwaz and the sky god, but can you like some decent sources on Wodanaz and his connect to a wind god? That’s a really facinating concept.
And it makes a lot of sense. The name wodanaz/Wodan/Odin seems to be rooted in the word “wod” meaning mad (make his name essentially “the mad one”. The wind’s turbulence seems to fit in with this characterization.

Gods of magic are also gods of wring and communication. Thoth invented writing and was God of magic. Odin as wanderer is related to Mercury and Hermes, messenger gods. Magic is related to galdr, singing or chanting or praying things into existences. Like making affirmations. These were methods to bless and curse. Magic is using communication methods, not to communicate, but rather it uses communication to create.

Voodoo dolls, effigies, and execration rituals are using physical forms of communication.

pay attention u fuckers

I live in one of those "devoutly Christian white areas." Anyone worth their salt is only Christian for the sake of family values and honest business dealings. The rest are useful idiots, self aggrandizing boomers and millennial marvel fanboys alike, who go along with the social hierarchy. A good alternative would win over a portion of the top percentile and after that it's a matter of performance quality. If you believe in your idea, sell it. If you're right about it, they'll buy it.

Maybe northern Europe, the Baltic, and Britain are having better luck, but here in midwestern burgerland, my biggest issue with neo paganism is the lack of families. I know why this is. The Hippy, New Age, roastie poison killed the folk movement in America. Folkish movements are dead on arrival here. The well is good and poisoned, at least in my region. There are two neo pagan orgs in my area, but they're filled with boomers and instagram whores. There's only one young-ish couple in my age range between both groups. These groups are as corrupt as the church they've been rebelling from since Woodstock. Neither of them is tied to Asatru or Odinism that I'm aware of, but I can't find neo pagan families. I get the impression half or more youngsters, who fall in with neo paganism and National Socialism, do so because they're intellectual migrants or societal orphans. In this regard, christians are right to call us larpers, its a fair criticism. That's just my opinion, from what I've seen for myself. For any folkish revival and alternative society built around neo paganism to work, we need family optics, and if I'm a father I'm not taking my family to these hippies and roasties. We might need to steal the church format, which that top percentile of midwestern and southern christian men and women are familiar with. If we're going to draw them and their children's generation to pagan communities. We should also be starting hunting and fishing lodges, which is what I'm interested in doing. Hunting is pagan and puts you in the mindset of our ancestors, even beneath all the modern stuff.

Is the Asatru Folk Assembly in your area?
From what I’ve seen they are pretty folkish, and not too LARP as to be taken seriously. Stephen McNallen was pretty based IMO and their new leader is redpilled too (vid related).
Beyond that though I don’t know too much about these guys though. They do have a midwestern chapter that maybe be worth looking into. You can find videos of their events on JewTube. They seem prett family oriented and the people don’t seem cringeworthy so there is that.
And of course the old warning that orgs could be honeypots rings true. Not saying these guys are but keep in mind anyway

Founder and former leader of the AFA
Keep in mind he does literally believe in Odin although here he is talking about the Jungian archetype theory.

Stop linking to youtube. Tyvm. We no longer watch youtube.

Thanks user, I'll look into what's available here within reasonable distance, but as of five months ago when last I looked, it was all cringey boomers and new age faggots. The opposite of who you want near your family. My view of the gods are similar to Collin Cleary's, but I also believe the gods live in my actions, and they can become more and less real. There are perceptible barriers over my mind when I'm living immersed in the urban capitalist world, whereas when I go alone into Nature, read the sagas, sacrifice or meditate the barriers weaken. If that makes sense. Its similar to what Heidegger meant by the flight of the gods.

Also like user said, use invidio now. No more jewtube links, they're scum.

pls stop saying that. you would be surpised user. I have a gode… look it's kinda like islam this way. everyone has a gode. he has his territory, and is kinda like both a judge and a priest

due to history of persecution we're rather private about the matter. but make no mistake we're back

also wtf man

did you hear about florida man? was he from here? he confused everyone on iceland for a long time… he gave him self a very credible icelandic name… he killed someone in florida.. and he claimed to be icelandic… to level he spoke language fluently…. so back on iceland they were going
they sent people…

only then to finally realize… no he was all along a florida native… he fooled everyone. I gues +10 for the effort… and yes he was åsatru… I guess that's how it started

I don't remember but I think he killed some guy in a bar fight, then he claimed he was icelandic and gave his name

everyone took him seriously… to the level politicians got involved… it was all over the news here

and as people started to ask, but which family is he from?

then it turns out…. it was florida man all along, everyone got fooled

Julius Caesar is before christcuckery.

I'm a fellow burger in the Ozark region actually, and while I'm fond of paganism as well you are right about the well being poisoned. It doesn't seem that many natsoc pagans are true believers in the old gods, especially in America.
There is plenty we could draw from, such as the tent revival tradition, Transcendentalism (which is very Faustian and nature oriented), good old Family Values, even Manifest Destiny could all be brought together under one grand Patriotic Gospel. We just have to think different, we don't have a folk religion here, but we've never had a unified Christianity either.

Wodanaz Mit Uns

Move on to Odinism/Wotanism for starters.

baste

I rejected the christ-cuck pill a while ago now, I have been reading the eddas and want to get back in touch with my ancestors and the Gods, where do I start, user Tor poster?

- most pogroms/expulsions had nothing to do with pro-Christian views.
- your (((book))) condemns these expulsions.
- this is not a thread for Christcucks you retard. Go back to /igiveheadtojesus/

The overindulgence of these myths has gone so far that the original knowledge is now lost. Their value is limited. Not to say that if one reads about history and religion, gods and tales were crafted according to needs and times.
Contains tons of good stuff, especially older Vedic literature.
Rig Veda is racist. Rig is also a name for Heimdallr.

Absolutely.

There are many translations.
www.heathengods.com/havamal/
Arguably, the three classical ones, Ayden & Taylor, Thorpe and Bellows, can be problematic.
One might try Gorgani's version. Fresh, without PC.

You guys know a lot about this! Do you recommend any particular translations of the poetic/prose Eddas?

Books to read: Elder Edda, Sagas.
That if you focus on Icelanders/Norse people.
But understand that the Nordics were, as far as Europeans are concerned, travelers, conquerors, and thousands of years ago they occupied large territories to the East of Europe. What is authentically "Northernic" though is the blood, related in some fashion to Hyperborea.
Now, because of all these migrations, you may understand that to get a broader picture of the White legacy, you may consider other ancient religions and traditions, covering very ancient slavic content, vedic material and druidic knowledge.
"Vikings" (raiders, almost a slang word in fact) and "their" people did, once in a time, actually summon adepts from the faint and dwindling crypto-Druidic order to build something of a massive scale in northern Scandinavia.
← Vid related: geographic pythagorean pentagram.

>- your (((book))) condemns these expulsions.
I forgot to say also that Christian anti-semitism is one strictly related to the notion of the killing of a so-called god (through the trinitarian argument) and the Jews' refusal to convert.
In other words, it's a disagreement between Jewish groups, one universalist and the other nationalist, and absolutely does not concern Whites at all.
Remember that only Christians are obsessed about salvaging something (anything) about their Bible, their Jesus. They just cannot let it go.
Even if they convert, you will see that they retain something of their Christian years, perhaps even a secret longing to merge a crippled version of Jesus to their new faith. Singing for the glory of the Lord YHWH and will praise him hallelujah. They may remain obsessed about a form of universalism, a feeling of necessity to help Jews, or a craving for Latin above all cultures including their own, or even a deep longing for Hebrew-related esoteric material.
Be careful with these sort-of-conversos. They need help.

Old connections…
