IBM isn't going anywhere. A lot of infrastructure is built on IBMs technology from the 80s, and they still teach assembly/colbalt for their shit in schools. This shit would cost companies/cities/governments/etc billions of dollars and years to replace, with not much gain. As opposed to just keeping it around, and paying IBM some maintenance/consulting fees every once in a while. They also are buying out a lot of smaller companies, for example, Red Hat one of the larger Linux distros. The reason they bought out Red Hat is so they can get in on the cloud meme.
