ANd by the way there is a difference between monastic and priestly celibacy. Having a monastic order where some people don't reproduce is fine and can be a celebration against materialism. But having all your priests not reproduce can fuck up your gene pool for generations and we are stilll recovering from it.

I'm saying the celibate priesthood was a tiny fraction of a fraction of the European population. It was also much smaller than the European nobility, which was the true source of our best genes. If the middle age celibate priesthood "decapitated" us why did Europeans rise to their prominence after the middle ages?
