I'm not well-versed in theory, but isn't capitalism supposed to reach its limits before true socialist revolution can finally happen? didn't marx said that free trade will bring the collapse of capitalism faster?

It's a valid theory. The last labour reserve is Africa, once they have been mobilized it's over. Xi is trying to position China in an advantageous position for the end game in 20 years.
