Depends on how retarded they are. I work at a retard ranch and wrangle them daily, they are literally subhuman and most of them are irredeemable. In truth, the biggest issue is the system being shitty, the place I work at is a state funded care center but the private ones are in even worse conditions from what I heard.

The problems begin at home from the irresponsibility of the parents, they're unprepared and most of them give up and throw them into the system, the few that keep their semi-human spawns as pets coddle and spoil them, which causes problems when they enter a new system as adults. They spend their young years in school in a retard designated class, but given how shitty schools are what happens in practice is that they're let loose to the playing ground for 12 years because no one can bear to suffer their sperging. In the system, most of their handlers (like me) are untrained, unqualified, temporary employees that got picked off the street because of desperation for workforce. The biggest fucking problem, however, is that there is no consistency with their care. Some place lets them laze around for 12 hours a day on pillows for 3 years, some place gives them "work" (repetitive pointless tasks like screwing and unscrewing screws, or little hobbies like coloring, etc), almost no meaningful records are fucking kept so you can't even treat them effectively. One of the tards is in the system for 22 years since he was 8 years old and they still didn't manage to teach him table manners, like what the fuck were they doing this entire time? Why is it that his new handler needs to learn all the ins and outs of this literal moron when there should be a well documented file on him? Retards taking care of retards, this is what the current system is.

Some get better to some degree, but most continue to live as livestock, frolicking and sperging, going to sleep only to wake up and start the hellish cycle of their inarticulate madness all over again without reason in sight. The only reason these creatures are kept alive is because of the petty humanism of our society. Call me edgy I don't care, but once you see this shit and how severe it is you'd support euthanasia in a heartbeat. Those that are only mildly retarded and get the right very, very long treatment are absorbed into the capitalist system and join the rat race to live a vapid existence embroiled in pop culture and the latest trends.

What SHOULD be done is to give every tard a personal social worker with real training and a serious degree that deals with medicine, neurology, psychology, even philosophy of consciousness, instead of a fucking 18-year-old looking for a temporary job overlooking retards or a failed sociology major that comes to teach music to the few functional ones. The parents, if they wish to continue to care for it need to go through training and learning, and the personal worker should still be attached and overlook the child's progress so it may even become a person one day. There should be record keeping, there should be also inquiry into their condition, because right now the handlers don't actually know what happened to any of them - it could have been a lack of oxygen at birth, it could have been brain damage, it could have been retardation or autism, it could have been so many fucking things but no one knows what or how to investigate it, it's all guesswork - "you talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded" is about the best analysis that is given on any of the retards by the supposed experts at the facility. Also they should be used in experimental neurology since they're not really using their brain anyway, but no, because we're such a humane society let's just keep them on life support to live a pointless life filled with rage and and outbursts by pumping thousands of dollars to these low-functioning retards (while actual humans, mostly children, with potential are starving on the streets and in low-income homes).

Socialism is not an ideology that dictates who gets exactly what, and what role they play in society. The only thing you can really comment on are the biases inherent in the capitalist mode of production, and how a socialist mode of production would negate those or introduce new biases.

The question that concerns me more than whether or not retards should be bred out of existence, is how this will happen and the prevailing attitudes towards the retarded. Reading this thread, the pro-exterminists can only be interpreted as taking a perverse pleasure in the extermination of the unwanted, as an end unto itself, in order to justify their position within society and their status as humans. You don't need to bitch and moan about how horrible it is to work with retarded people, how much of an affront it is to your own sensibilities. I don't believe either that, in the grand scheme of things, feeding and housing the retarded would be that great an expense to society. It might be cruel to force them into facilities and feed them just enough to stay alive, but talking to would-be social engineers they act like it is a terrible burden and cry like it's the end of the world that unclean people exist.
