In a touching nod to the presidents who came before him, President Donald Trump was reportedly obsessed with launching his own invasion of a Latin American country.
Unsurprisingly, the country is Venezuela. Last August, Trump caused a stir by saying that he wouldn’t rule out a “military option” in the country, where there’s been significant political unrest during the government of Nicolás Maduro, and where the effects of an oil crisis have been exacerbated by the effect of sanctions by the U.S. In May, Maduro was controversially re-elected to a six-year term. (The opposition candidate who eventually finished as the runner-up was reportedly threatened with sanctions by the U.S. for running.)
It’s worth noting the history here: in 2002, Venezuela’s previous leader Hugo Chávez survived a coup, which was allegedly linked to the Bush administration, whose officials met with opposition leaders in the months leading up to the attempt. Chávez, who died of cancer in 2013, also repeatedly suggested that the U.S. was trying to assassinate him.
The “military option” comment was mostly waved off by the White House and the press as Trump being Trump. But the AP reports now that Trump was, in fact, very serious about this.
1st worldists eternally BTFO'd. Gusanos are nothing but spics afflicted with Stockholm Syndrome. National Liberation is in the interest of all Latinos.
Seems like The Maduros won't go down as easy as Qaddafi and Hussein:
"Mind your own business and solve your own problems, Mr. Trump!" thundered Nicolas Maduro, the president's son, at the government-stacked constituent assembly. "If Venezuela were attacked, the rifles will arrive in New York, Mr. Trump," the younger Maduro said. "We will take the White House."
One retard speaks, and two diametrically opposed retards respond. The breadth of political and historical illiteracy that weighs upon burgers is proportional with their intractable tendency to fuck the world, in general, up
Maybe the guy posting that trump was a socialist is actually our guy and he's doing a psyop. Maybe the op will believe him since he apparently believes that Pinochet is Marxist.
Doesn't really seem to mean much now. Looks like he backed off on this.

But it's not happening right?

Bolivia would probably help out. I don't think it will happen and this is mostly blowing smoke. They'll probably just try and stoke a coup again.

Venezuela could win the conventional war at the beginning if the effectively leveraged their anti-armor and anti-air capabilities. That would require enormous martial skill.
Venezuela is already preparing for a guerilla war. The people support Maduro for now, the terrain is dominated by jungles, muddy plains, and high mountains, 10% of the civilian population owns guns. However their nearest ally is Bolivia which means friendly resupply and sanctuary is effectively unavailable for most guerillas.
Venezuela would have to win any war, conventional or otherwise, quickly. The fastest way to get the US out would be to sponsor terrorist attacks at home. There are 300,000 Venezuelan Americans and 50 million Hispanic Americans. If Maduro can get 1% engaged in violent action like Northern Ireland's Troubles he could force the US to split along ethnic lines for a war.

Do they mean that bare bones SucDem who was buddies with bob Marley who was elected And iirc is still one of Jamaicas most popular PMs?
Last August, President Donald Trump asked several top foreign policy advisers about the possibility of invading Venezuela during a meeting about diplomatic sanctions the US was enacting on the autocratic government, a senior administration official familiar with the comments said.
I'm sure that venezuela having some of the largest oil reserves on the planet is purely coincidental

Don't American generals openly admit we only get into wars for "strategic" reasons?

Sending Boys to Die for Tin, Rubber and Oil
ELIZABETH GOOD: So it was after that, that Bob seemed to get more concerned – all of us did – about this war in Vietnam and what was happening. And I still, even last Friday, I still tried to hang on to that theory that my boy died for his country.
But after Mr. Zinn was on the stand, and he spelled it out, "Tin, rubber and oil," that's when I broke down in court. That's when I broke down and I realized, you know, it was pretty stupid of us to have swallowed that business about America being over there to save South Vietnam from the Communists; and when we had permitted, as we say, Cuba, 90 miles from our shore, to be a Communist country.
it's not just that their stupid, years of propaganda during the cold war turned the word "socialism" from meaning (insert whatever semi-accurate definiton you like most here) into "bad" or "poor country".
