Honestly, if you don't drink Hennessy you're not a comrade.
/LeftyAlcoholics/
Hennessy is up to over 80 dollars in my area not even for the big bottle, wtf are u talking about
Guy Debord for one. Honestly if you're a leftist and don't drink you're not pissed off enough.
I mean if you're in an org that is actually doing stuff for people or trying to organize events it can help to keep a clear mind but if you're a lone wolf yeah it really can be the only thing that makes this timeline bearable
Remember to give your critical support to the Cuban Govt. & Pernod Ricard joint venture in their heroic struggle against Bacardi copy-cat rum imperialism.
I'm in this thread and even I think you need help. Might be cheap as shit but damn is there a reason for it
Currently sipping some cheap-ass sambuca mixed with some crappy coffee to pretend I have a sense of taste
Idk if he counts as lefty in your book, but Ernest Hemingway was a journalist for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War. Allegedly he threw a grenade at some nazis in a barn while he was supposed to be a neutral press agent.
Otherwise, another person who you might not count as lefty would be Socrates, who also may not have been an alcoholic. But anyways, apparently there are some writings that stated that he was impervious to alcohol - take that as you will. It's not unlikely he enjoyed a drink or two being in the social position he was, but idk if its too much of a stretch from there to full blown alcoholism
Both guys are comrades in my book, despite their shortcomings here and there
Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable
Heidegger Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could drink you under the table
David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as shloshed as Shlegel
There’s nothing Nietzsche couldn’t teach ya about the raising of the wrist
Socrates himself was permenantly pissed
John Stuart Mill if his own free will drank half a pint of shanty and was particularly ill
Plato they say could stick it away half a crate of whiskey everyday
Aristotle Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle
Hobbes was fond of his dram
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart “I drink therefore I am”!

We should write a version of this with leftist theorists.
but make it about tobacco
I thought Nietzsche never drank alcohol, or at least claimed never to do so. At the least, he was against it. iirc he said it made one complacent in their present state, rather than seek to investigate and change themselves and their worldly condition, or something along those lines.
