The permit application says that 400 attendees are expected. There were 500 last year. Charlottesville rejected the rally application because the city council thought that 400 was a massive underestimate of the turnout. The Democrat Cops of America says 1000 people will attend the rally. If this thing gets too big I'm going to start spending some extra time at the range.

Facebook says nice things about gay people and the environment, but it's totally in bed with the Feds. It is simply in the nature of law enforcement in a capitalist society (working for the preservation of property rights and the class structure) to throw their lot in with fascists (working for a strengthening of the class structure and the reintroduction of cruder forms of domination and exploitation). Their interests are simply too closely aligned.
It won't be as big in terms of bodies in the streets but to make up for it and because of what will probably be a (lack) of opposition the people there will go twice as hard.

If you're a white dude take a gas mask some padding under your clothes and a gun if you have a permit. Make it a pistol because open carry is illegal in DC. (Just to be clear the gun is if shit really hits the fan)

No matter what you should stay in a group of four or more. Make sure you know where the street medics are too they'll be life savers when you get hit with gas, pepper spray, or get jumped.
if you want to bring a hand weapon, a knife with a sheath can be concealed in a coat, and an extendable baton is also easily hidden as well.

Even in New York City it's legal to carry pepper spray. It's the most I would bring.

They are well funded and presumably have lots of experience handling large demonstrations. They will be trying to prevent opportunities for large scale brawling.

African-American here, almost unheard of on this site I know haha. But I wanted to say that I almost attended the first Unite the Right rally with (my white) friends to counter protest, but out of concern for my safety I decided against it. They were near the site of the murder when it occurred, and since then I've thought about what could've happened if I had gone with them and we were just a few feet over at the right time. I begged my father to stay home from work this Sunday out of concern for his well-being as I can't help but feel that this one will be particularly gruesome. I hope the left gets over their fear of guns and realize that there is a war being waged that cannot be won through flowery rhetoric. The time for that has passed, blood has been shed and if we truly believe in what we fight for we must be willing to do the same as they have. Its past the time for dialogue.

This time could be much different given the way things work in DC. You have to remember that DC is used to having tons of people march and protest, often as of recently at odds with each other, so they have ways to handle this as opposed to NC last year. The first thing is that permits are granted to different areas/times, so both groups won't be right next to each other and in general, the cops claim to be trying to section them off to keep the conflict desiring elements on both sides from getting in close proximity. Assuming that the cops as a whole or enough of them individually are not corrupt and ideologically aligned with the Right, then this SHOULD work to a greater or lesser extent.
There are other questions too about clashes on the metro (subway) stations for people coming and going, as well as the potential for informants and provocateurs - an unfortunately common element in protesting since the post 9/11 era. However, there are also just plain assholes on both sides seeking conflict. It is OUR JOB to basically hold back the black-bloc /punch-a-nazi type lest we all lose credibility and they will whine about being not getting their free speech rights etc.. We cannot look like unhinged politically correct types/SJWs either, and "no platforming" by trying by any means to basically stop them from talking etc… only looks shitty for us on the left. The ideology must be defeated openly, not feeding into their victimization fantasy etc. Oh and by the way - if you go, lefties, DRESS RESPECTABLY. Lets not forget the civil rights marches and other protests - its important not to all look shitty. THere's a reason MLK had people marching in their sunday best. We don't have to go that far, but don't have inflammatory slogans on your clothes, don't look like a stoner, unwashed, etc…. if you cant adhere to that, stay home. Also, if you are interviewed by ANYONE, if you think you will come across as anything but with a grad-school or better grasp on of the subject at hand, NO COMMENT or stick to short prepared statements. We only have to remember 2011 and the Occupy movements where the media tried to exploit a few unaware individuals to make the entire movement seem like it lacked direction etc… so don't let that happen!
