People over forty, yeah. All the people younger than that have been brought up being told that everything they want, they can't have because it's socialism. Universal healthcare? Socialism. Universal secondary education? Socialism. Full employment? Socialism. Clean energy? Socialism. When they ask for these things they get told about socialist Scandinavia and communist China, both of which are doing the things they want their country to be doing. And all that is besides the immigrants and children of immigrants that have come to the US either from ostensibly communist countries or countries with histories of left politics.
So after being told their whole lives, "sorry, this is America and we have no money for socialism," when the military budget grows year after year, the war in Afghanistan has been going on for literally before some of them have been born, that piddling minimum wage increases and job security are decried as 'unrealistic,' more and more of them are going, 'okay, fine. If the things we want are all socialism, then give us socialism!'
That's a major part of what is fueling instability in the American government. Congress, the president, increasingly even their state and local legislatures, are doing everything they can to put a stop to even the most anemic reforms because once it starts it won't be stopped, at least not without giving up the masquerade, and once that happens, once the bourgeois have to resort to naked force to maintain their system domestically, it's all over. It will be either permanent military occupation or the end of capitalism as it has existed for the past hundred years. This is what keeps the bourgeois awake at night.

While I know jackshit about psychology and scientific ideological warfare, I believe that person watching this, even if he doesn't know what communism is and was taught at school that he was genocidal monster, do not reject the message of the video - he accept it that yes, indeed, Stalin was as bad person as this meme shows while, at the same time, associating Stalin = fun, which makes said person more open to Stalin's ideas in the future.

You are correct that far-right tendencies are on the uptick, this is true. And, you are also correct about the "socialists" being milquetoast social democrats, at least in the United States.
Not all hope is lost, however. The conditions in the United States are worsening, the poverty that the lower classes suffered in is becoming even more apparent. Perhaps one day, even soon, the conditions for a genuine proletarian movement will arrive. And hopefully, if American socialists are organized enough, they'll seize the opportunity. No single man can do this, of course.

Marxism Leninism applied to any "first world", that is developed imperialist nation, wont look much like the Soviet Union of Stalin.
Something that bothers me about ML parties is that while realizing that they need to adress the slander against the SU and antistalinism as a form of anticommunism, is that they're not giving enough effort into promoting a modern image of socialism by applying Marxism Leninism to a developed nations potential as an answer to this.
When they talk about the SU issues and struggle, they forget to explain what this means for today and the future concretely and what their vision for socialist construction now is.
