How to deal with suburbia

It’s a well known fact that suburbia, especially American suburbia and the associated “American Dream” ideology with its imperative to own your own home as a sort of cultural value, is a bit of social engineering by the American state to convert class conscious proles into reactionary petit bourgeoisie and maintain a core of reaction in American politics. There is a question of what to do about the suburbanites, since home ownership is sort of a cultural value now and engaging in it isn’t always a sign of reactionary petit booj ideology (though the demographic does lean pretty hard reactionary). I think there’s a pretty straightforward answer to this. Simply take suburban residential areas into public ownership, but with respect for residency rights. In other words, they won’t have to pay another dime on the mortgage or in property taxes and it’s still “theirs” as the resident, but they can no longer sell the property and when they move out they forfeit it, either to the next resident or to be knocked down and reclaimed by the community for another purpose.

To the petit bourgeois reactionary who views the property as an “investment”, this will be an outrage, but to the prole, who only saw it as a residency, this will be a great boon. Thus, we’ll have sorted the wheat from the chaff in a single stroke and can act accordingly.

Good idea. However I don't think it could ever be put into practice without a straight up revolution. Amerifats love their disgusting mini castles.

Man, suburbia look worse than USSR industrial cities

The superstructure parts aren't why we should empty the suburbs like Democratic Kampuchea emptied the cities, their reliance on cheap oil is, they're literally destroying the world.

Yeah a lot of these "homes" are more than 30 minutes from where their residents actually work. I currently have a couple of coworkers who live more than 60 miles from where our office is. They spend 4 hours every day just driving to and from work. It's ridiculous. If oil prices shot up they would be completely fucked (and that would be a good thing.)

If we want to have any hope of keeping the world from flooding, population centralization in the West with a capital "W" is going to be the first step. Every suburb should be turned into forest, a long with greening our deserts.

Wall them off, throw the reactionaries in there and let them attempt to live their mythical 50s Smalltown, USA paradise. Much more humane than gulags, and even attractive to its would-be occupants. Hell, they might volunteer to be thrown in. The Suburbia Archipelago.

Damn that's actually good for a suburb in the states.

It's only within walking distance of some 10-20% tho.
