Economic policy of Japan

Could someone explain to me how Japan became such a powerhouse during world war II? What were their economic policies? How did they incoporate state religion into it?
For a WWII great power, nobody really talks about them much.

Well, they did develop rather quickly after total isolation.

Modernization and imperialism are a helluva drug.

There's a long section in Bankrupting The Enemy by Edward S. Miller that describes some of their economic buildup. They understood how to apply scientific principles to improve production of certain goods (mostly silk, but also cotton) which could then be sold to large markets in the United States for dollars. They then used these dollars to buy machinery and military equipment from Europe. This was how they could develop and expand influence throughout Asia, investing in regions and later invading them to take formal control. These regions would then provide raw materials for Japanese industry.

In short, organization.

Did communism have any influence in Japan before World War 2?

Their policy was to invade the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and take oil.

I've seen some party posters, but that's about it.

Only America or the USSR could have realistically taken them down.

They were willing to basically accept Western everything, whole cloth, no questions asked. They completely changed the structure of their society in the 1870s. Government, political ideologies, clothes, art, etc. They already had pretty developed cottage industries which provided a good industrial base from which they could mechanize. Between a forward thinking government, a healthy economy, and a geopolitical situation free of existential threats, continued success was already assured.

Communist parties were banned by the Peace Preservation Law of 1927, most staunch socialists were thrown in jail. Reformist parties were active but they weren't as popular as liberals and conservatives. So, basically the left were almost non-existent until 1945.

it's called imperialism. People were extrmely poor, and their industry was fucking abysmal, the only thing keeping the country afloat was the Army, and the Amry's secret police. They used korean slaves to mine coal and iron in north korea while importing extremely cheap oil from the US. The invasion Malaya and Indonesia gave them an extra few years during the war, but by the time the a-bombs were dropped they were dancing on a knife's edge.

JCP is the only prewar party that never collaborated with the fascist regime and they are pretty proud about it.

I mean they are basically succdems, but they are the only credible opposition to Abe.

Not sure.

Japanese people have to work extra hard to compete against Chinese slave labor.

If it weren't for Communism, Japan would basically be a Utopia.

The Japanese conquered a lot of Asia, Western Europe, and a lot of Pacific islands. Wanted to be the Asian master race. They failed. Now, they work like dogs to still be poor because they have to sell things in the global market extra cheap to compete with Communists.

In trying times suspending the rules of the fiat banking game and just doing stuff without worrying about jew confetti reveals the true, unleashed potential of any people.

It is not without reason that 99% of all wars are economic and financial in nature.

I think this guy may have made a video on this subject.

In other words, imagine you're in a city and the citizens decided to just mine for metal and build you guns and infrastructure without the hubbub of banking inbetween.
Something you would usually not get easily, something like an anti air cannon, for example, would be a possilibity without "well we will need a million monopoly monies for this ;^) otherwise we simply cannot do this task" bullshit.

Y'all must underestimate both the resources already present in some location and the willingness to recycle things or divert resources to more important things rather than dumb vanity stuff.

Apple extracts literally tonnes of gold from old devices which they can reuse without having to invade any country.
The fact that they are suffering today is due to the return to the fiat game and 'capitalism' that uses this 'capital' (which is no capital at all but debt and fantasy confetti).

Definitely before 1927. Anarchists attempted to bomb the god emperor in the 1910's.

Based

What?

...

They had a strong focus on technological and industrial development since the 19th century, based on protectionism and domestic manufacturing. They were making high quality finished goods long before WW2.

Rapid industrialization and adoption of western political and social institutions in the late 19th century followed by the colonization of Taiwan and Korea. The Japanese then made a gamble to invade China and take Southeast Asian oil; this failed miserably in the end.

IMPERIALISM

they were a Italy tier nobody power

Only asset worth the damn when it comes to Imperial Japan was their navy and her air-force in terms of technology or assets.

The imperial army was still in middle of chaining from interwar equipment to the late 1930´s generation in terms of small arms, tanks etc. Its only redeeming quality in comparison to Germany for example was its vast number of reservists but due to the long service time none of them were adjusted to the new models of equipment nor tactics that were born out of war with China. As for their wartime production they suffered from dual production of rifle models, plains for usage of army and the navy along with strategic shortages in tungsten and other more rare materials that their industry demanded.
