What's going on in Kerala?

So no matter what you think about the ideological grounding of the CPI(M), their achievements within the capitalist state of India seem to be noteworthy. No street shitting, highest living standard in India, grassroot welfare systems, etc. have all been mentioned as being party of the "Kerala Model". Even though India still needs its socialist revolution, the existence of Kerala seems to me like a good proof for debates that communist parties can be voted for and they achieve great things.

It's true. In Kerala there is close to none public defecation which is a huge problem in India due to the lack of toilets.

Kerala shows how communists care about their people when you put kerala and the rest of india side by side, lets hope the CPI(M) is succsesful about brining revolution soon, they have pretty big support I heard and manage to mobolize many, as seen with the peasant marches recently

Alongside the local/regional governance of the CPI in Italy and the PCF in France, I think Kerala is one of the best examples to use on liberals who claim that leftists are "pie in the sky" idealists and incapable of actual, capable governance. Of course, all three do/did so in capitalist countries, but they remain good examples to use for liberals who agree with leftist ideals/policies in theory, but have been brainwashed by corporate media, (or in the case of many liberal boomers, disillusioned by the failure of candidates like McGovern)

They recently had a huge flood and are receiving no assistance from the fascist central government (much like Hurricane Katrina). They are pooling all efforts to deal with it though.

I always cringe whenever Zig Forumsyps laugh at India for streetshitting because the only reason it continues is muh free market right wing bullshit. Kerala eliminates the issue and develops a modern economy in comparison to the rest of the country and of course all they can do is blame the fact that the rest of India is poor because they're brown.

Kerala is actually still mostly agricultural IIRC.

Makes sense considering India as a whole is underdeveloped. I did say it was modern relative to the rest of the country right?

That's actually the reason why communists are so strong there. Kerala was traditionally very feudal and was raped by greedy landlords after India's independence quite badly, and communists promised a land reform that was very popular. Since then, Kerala is a communist stronghold because they improved the state overall.

It's true that Kerala is still rural, but infrastructure, education, worker's rights, unions, etc. are all blooming in Kerala, and they are getting good with hi-tech as well, their cities are cleaner, better planned and more modern than most Indian cities.

Question is why communist parties aren't popular in India outside of West Bengal and Kerala, surely the corruption would cause other states to vote them into office. Truth is, India is a fucking rag rug of petty regional struggles and ethnic and religious conflicts. The politics of one Indian state are as complex as the politics of an entire European country. In Kerala, there is a relative equal composition of religious groups, many Christians, and rural distribution of Muslims and Hindus, so there is no dominant religious/ethnic group and the communists usually protect all minorities equally so all these groups like to arrange themselves with them.

People I've talked to who have traveled a lot in India or live there say Kerala is pretty chill compared to the rest of India. Sure, if you're from a developed country you'll need to adjust your expectations, but Kerala owns compared to vast parts of the country (especially states like Uttar Pradesh) that are just crushingly awful and where the poor are ground into bonemeal on the regular. And the politics of India are just brutal. As in the way to get started in politics is to act as a street enforcer and promote yourself up by hacking off a rival party enforcer's arms off and then raping his kids.

I was talking to one guy from Kerala over the internet and he was like "these alt-right guys are interesting to read about because they remind me of our ultra-nationalist / Hindutva / thugs etc. but ours are like 1,000 times worse. You are really, really lucky."

Kerala is a social democracy according to my pajeet friend, understandably so given their conditions. One thing you might not know is that place is completely flooded apparently: youtu.be/F2-5q2nRIKQ

Hold up. If things are so great there how come us Muricans haven't funded a coup there yet?

It's a minor province whose recent uptick in tech infrastructure is being used to finance a welfare state - regardless of its stewards being communist, they're acting as the lawful deputies for social capitalism so no coup is needed

Because it's a state government, not a national one. It would be like a military coup to overthrow the government of Michigan.

Reminds me of Persepolis, the part when they are talking about the growing power of neonazis and marjeen talks about how worst are the guards of the revolution.

So what your saying is, we can do that once India as a whole adopts the Kerala model.

because by then the facists would have been defeated, so external help is needed

Tell them about how they wanna surf the waves of the Kali Yuga and be reborn under Kalki in the end of the Iron Age.

While CPI(M) are M-L In doctrine it is important to distinguish this from what the party has been able to implement in practice
As of now the CPI(M) has only been able to establish a Social-Democratic Market Economy which is a step below primary stage socialism (Social Market economy) or a socialist planned economy

The reasons it has been unable to do so is quite obvious and it is that the central goverment would simply not allow it and dismiss the goverment if it attempted state-Capitalist / Socialist planned reforms
