RT is interested in gaining audience from the far-left and the far-right, because Russian foreign policy does not care about promoting socialism anymore but loyality to the BRICS states.
Dominic Harris
all SD parties in Europe are named "socialist", even though they're not even SD anymore. I thought even americans knew this by now.
Asher Bennett
Untrue, pootin is the number of financier of European far right, furthermore BRICS relationships is symbolic at best youtu.be/dU8SoW_dTRo

Because while Russia is opposed to US imperialism it is still a bourgeois dictatorship that fears socialism and tries to court Western fascists and boomers.
Leo Collins
It's not true. Russian oligarchs directly support american imperialism with their massive investments into american economy.
Carson Miller
Yes Russia is fucking imperialist you tool.
I am definitely getting banned (again) for this but you people are just neocons with a minus sign. Nothing outside of your star-spangled bubble exists. You are completely ignorant of how Russia suppresses leftism and imperializes neighboring countries, particularly in the Caucasus and Central Asia, how its foreign policy directly serves Russian oligarchic capital, you only care where in relation to America it stands.
This amerigoblin idea of imperialism is imperialist thinking on itself. It has little to do with any leftist theory of imperialism except Kautsky's ultra-imperialism - which was criticized by Lenin, who realized that multiple poles of imperialism will always exist under capitalism.
A sane leftist realizes both sides as enemies. Rooting for the 'underdog' in a conflict between two imperialist forces is incredibly near-sighted and idiotic.
If there's any solace I'll have when Russian police would brutalize me, call me an American agent and slide a baggie of weed into my pocket for good measure, for attending a leftist demonstration or a labor strike…oh wait, IT'S ALREADY HAPPENING but it's ok because Russia is anti-imperialist gang.

If you replied to the right post: I don't see how he was disagreeing with you

RT is very selective about which side it plays up. In Europe, RT is hard right, because the hard right is the most closely associated with Euroscepticism and Russia sees the EU as a major rival and threat. RT America on the other hand, is pretty far left (at least by Burger standards) because lefties are the most likely to criticize the actions of the US state (and not just the liberal democratic institutions of the state and called it muh big gubbermand like burger conservatives) and US foreign policy.
I don't think anyone should swear off RT, RT can host some pretty good content, but you should keep in mind that RT is merely a vehicle for Russian foreign policy and all the realpolitik that goes with that, don't expect consistency.
Brayden Hill
Hey, that's my post from months ago. Kind of makes me cringe now that I've read more books and realized Russia isn't a real imperialist. It's more like an aspiring imperialist that commits some local imperialism in CIS countries but not a real one yet.
Doesn't change the fact that Russia is a DotB with latent fascist tendencies that jails leftists, but y'know. I was a dumbo.
No, it's a real imperialist, just not a very good one. Wannabes can be worse than the real thing, so you need to be careful.
Ian Wilson
Russia has moved beyond the Left-Right Paradigm It will happily support any political ideology or faction it can if it is in the name of Russian National Interest From Socialists in the DPRK To Baathist's in Syria To Islamic-Conservatives in Iran To The Libyan army To who the fuck else ever
All of them are simply steeping stones nothing but planks on the ladder to Russian glory
That's nice, contrarian kid. If you're looking for better maymays, try the ideology generators.

Sort of like the difference between Al Jazeera Arabic and Al Jazeera English
Julian Fisher
My take is that Russia is not imperialist-it is a colony for few rich oligarchs, who sometimes use Russia for own imperialism. Kinda how British East India Company employed Pakistanis to kill Afghanistanis.
Hudson Perry
American isn't a "pole" of imperialism. It is the entire system. It has no direct competitor at this time.
Logan Lopez
Yeah, this. RT has some valuable criticisms of 'western' policies, but a lot of their political reporting is compromised by Russian interests - and their reporting on international conflicts that they're involved in is downright unreliable, matching or surpassing the US.
Benjamin Roberts
It's right there in the name: SOCIALIST.
Angel Evans
That’s basically how all modern imperialism works. Nation states are just enforcement agencies for a transnational ruling class, and which state does the enforcing is determined by whichever one is best suited to the situation. For example if international capital needed to put down a leftist uprising in Tajikistan, Russia would be the number one candidate to do so. Whereas if it were in Mexico, then the US would be the prime enforcer. The idea that imperialism is tied to the national bourgeoise of a particular country is outdated.
Colton Jackson
How's Arabic Al Jazeera?

wow, funny how all those russian troops ended up in the middle east eh? I bet they're just there on a "peace keeping" mission to prevent "terrorism", right? Certinaly not a power-grab with Iran….
Hunter Rodriguez
Imperialism isn't just when military does stuff abroad user, sorry to say. There is no shred of doubt that Russia is DotB, corrupt, authoritarian, bad bad no good, but to be an imperialist you have to be more than that. The only places Russia can be argued to imperialize are some post-Soviet -stans with which it has a sort of parasitic relationship. Russian finance capital isn't strong enough and its corporations not global enough to be a true imperialist on a world scale. It merely really wants to be one.
Charles Sullivan
For mainstream (and yes, RT is mainstream) medias, socialism=social democracy.
